Cover Lover – 4 New Titles

Well, this one is sort of a “mixed bag” post – a little bit of everything, I guess.  Karen Marie Moning is re-releasing one of her Highlander stories, Into the Dreaming, in hardcover on April 24th.  Its tagline is “Between the Highlander and Fever worlds lies a place beyond imagining.”  I swore at first glance that this was Black Dagger Brotherhood, though.

Author Kate Locke is starting up a new series called The Immortal Empire this July.  The first book will be called God Save the Queen, and the cover is a bit on the funky side.

Number 3 is from Kelly GayShadows Before the Sun is the fourth book in her Charlie Madigan series, due out on July 31st.

And finally, FINALLY, I found a colored version of this one (I saw the black and white version a few weeks ago).  I am a total Ghostwalkers lover, so I can’t wait to get my hands on Christine Feehan‘s Samurai Game, which is coming out on July 3rd.  This one is a bit fuzzy, so I will be replacing it when I get a better copy.

  1. Love the cover for Samurai Games (I am so behind on the Ghostwalkers but I like them too)

I have two questions on Into the Dreaming.:
Is this an expanded story? The original was a novella published first in the anthology Tapestry and later as this wierd thin paper back thingy.
Second, the guy on the cover – what the heck is he doing with his hands …

    • Yeah, he found something to keep himself amused with whilst picture taking, for sure…

I think I have both versions already released of Into the Dreaming, but this one must be an expanded version, or at least packed with a crap load of extras about the Highlander and Fever series. The skinny rip-off version came in at 102 pages, and they are listing this hardcover version as 240 pages.

On KMM’s site, it says “Special Hardcover edition with bonus material (re-release of original novella plus more)” – not totally helpful.

      • Yeah right, I guess he does look happy.

Okay I do know how to google, I am just lazy from Moning’s facebook page:

“For those of you asking: Into the Dreaming is a re-issue of a novella I wrote while I was writing the Highlander series that presaged the Fever series. It has a ton of extra stuff, including deleted scenes from Kiss of the Highlander, an alternate version of The Dark Highlander, and info from me about how it all fits together. It was out of print and hard to find, and I’m excited to get it out there in this new format.”

I’ll probably wait and see whether the extras make it worth the Hardback price…

      • I never think to check the Facebook pages…

Hm, tricky. How many copies do I really need of Into the Dreaming, I am asking myself. I think I will do the wait and see, too.

  2. The cover of ” Into the Dreaming” make me think of a british cover for the Black Dagger Brotherhood. While i really love the brothers, i never liked their covers a lot. And yes, the guy seem to have much pleasure !

”God save the Queen” make me think of a poster for a ” cabaret” from the beggining of the century. Or maybe ” Moulin Rouge ” the movie. Liked this movie. I don’t know Kate Locke, but i love the cover.

Kelly Gay’s cover always left me indifferent. It is beautiful, but lack of colors. It’s always gray or beige like rainy days… I love colors.

As for ” Samurai Game”, i really don’t know. I like the asian look but the lettering would have been better with a font that match the asian look.

  3. Ok at first glance I thought that this was a Black Dagger Brotherhood cover too

OMG I LOVE the cover for Shadows Before the Sun, it’s awesome, and tells a lot about the story, can’t wait to read this book, I have been waiting eagerly

The cover for Samurai Game is VERY pretty, I love the tatoo, her pose, the sword. Well still have to begin this series though

I loved the cover for God Save the Queen, her clothes and hair are cool

    • I was really happy with the Samurai Game cover, too – a departure from the last few that had really bad photoshopping of buildings randomly coming out the side of someone’s head.

  4. Hi Kaleigha! Happy New Year! I like KMM’s new cover, I have the original book for this one, but it might be worth it to get this one for the cover…

I didn’t see it on you site (but I could have missed it), but Kerrelyn Sparks new book Wanted is on B&N site and Goodreads.

    • Thanks, Lizzie – you too.

I will probably end up breaking down and getting this one, too. Not like I have any self control, so might as well give in gracefully.

I haven’t heard of Wanted, but I will take a peek for it – thanks.
