I spent a good 5 minutes drooling over next week’s Tangle of Need, but I managed to tear myself away long enough to check and see what new series are getting started this week. First up is a new one from Cassie Alexander, called Nightshifted. It is the first book in the Nightshifted series, featuring Edie Spence.
Nursing school prepared Edie Spence for a lot of things. Burn victims? No problem. Severed limbs? Piece of cake. Vampires? No way in hell. But as the newest nurse on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital, Edie has her hands full with every paranormal patient you can imagine—from vamps and were-things to zombies and beyond…
Edie’s just trying to learn the ropes so she can get through her latest shift unscathed. But when a vampire servant turns to dust under her watch, all hell breaks loose. Now she’s haunted by the man’s dying words — Save Anna — and before she knows it, she’s on a mission to rescue some poor girl from the undead. Which involves crashing a vampire den, falling for a zombie, and fighting for her soul.
Gray’s Anatomy was never like this…

This one is new…sorta. Donna Grant‘s Dark Warriors series is a spin off from her Dark Sword series, and the first book is Midnight’s Master. I admit, I am so far behind on this series I have no clue what is going on or how the two series are connected.
Gwynn Austin has no idea why her father has disappeared on a mysterious trip to Scotland. When she goes on a desperate mission to search for him she finds more than she bargains for in a ruggedly handsome, wickedly exciting Highlander who exudes danger and mystery. And when she discovers her own link to Scotland, she’ll have to trust her heart to help lead her…
Propelled through time by powerful Druid Magic, Logan Hamilton uses his immortality and powers of the god inside him to help prevent the awakening of an ancient evil in the modern world. He never expects to find help in the form of a beautiful, alluring, and all too tempting woman whose passion and strength matches his own. Together, Logan and Gywnn must fight for their love—before a demon from the past destroys them both…

Alyson Noel‘s Soul Seekers series also makes its debut this week with the release of the first book, Fated.
So here’s the deal . . .
Strange things have been happening to Daire Santos. Animals follow her, crows mock her, glowing people appear from nowhere. Worried that Daire’s having a breakdown, her mother sends her to stay with the grandmother she’s never met, who lives on the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico. There Daire crosses paths with Dace, a gorgeous guy with unearthly blue eyes.
Her grandmother recognizes Daire’s episodes for what they are – a call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, a person who can navigate between the living and the dead. Guided by her grandmother, Daire must be quick to learn how to harness her powers because Dace’s brother is an evil shape-shifter, out to steal them.
Daire must embrace her fate as a Soul Seeker and discover if Dace is the guy she’s meant to be with . . . or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy.

I have had my eye on this one for a while now. Michelle Rowen‘s Dark Kiss is the first book from her new Nightwatchers series, and the funky cover really caught my attention.
I don’t do dangerous.
Smart, uber-careful, ordinary Samantha, that’s me. But I just couldn’t pass up a surprise kiss from my number-one unattainable crush. A kiss that did something to me – something strange. Now I feel hungry all the time, but not for food. It’s like part of me is missing, and I don’t know if I can get it back.
Then there’s Bishop. At first I thought he was just a street kid, but the secrets he’s keeping are as intense as his unearthly blue eyes. If he’s what I think he is, he may be the only one who can help me. But something terrifying is closing in, and the one chance Bishop and I have to stop it means losing everything I ever wanted and embracing the darkness inside me.
