Hmm, I have been hoping for a really, really good cover to post for the last month or so, since this last while has been a bit iffy. Some have been ok, some cheesy, and some downright ass-ugly. Pretty much what I have found this go round, actually.
I actually don’t mind this first one…pretty, but sort of a flashback to the old historical romance bodice-rippers of yore (Lord, did I just yore in a sentence?!?). Er, yeah, so this is Winterblaze from Kristen Callihan‘s Darkest London series, which is due out on February 26th.
I am not quite sure about this one. I don’t hate it, but it seems to be going for the same vibe as Winterblaze (above), but doesn’t quite pull it off. I am not sure if it is the grainy effect, or the bad font for the title, but Gilded, the second book from Karina Cooper‘s St. Croix Chronicles, isn’t a great cover. It will be hitting the shelves on December 26th.
This one is Jaguar Fever, the second book from Terry Spear‘s new Jaguar series. I actually don’t mind this one, since the photoshopping is well done and everything is clear and easy to read. Pretty much standard, with intense shirtless dude, smoke and animal in the background, but it works unlike the next one…
Yep, saved this one for last. Good lord, this is so very, very wrong. I think that Pamela Palmer‘s A Love Untamed holds the distinction being the only book whose cover model scares me. There’s intense, and then there’s serial killer mug shot scary. I stopped reading this series a while back, and this one won’t make me want to pick it up again. This Feral Warriors novel will be released on December 26th.

Eh, but I kinda like A Love Untamed cover. Its have different vibe compare to others previous books. Even I know he looks creepy, lol. Alas, no big animal in the background now.
Also love Winterblaze, never think its have bodice ripper cover type. But I always in for Paul Marron cover
I was surprised by the change in direction for A Love Untamed, too – from the bright colors and body shots to Mr Mugshot. Dude still scares me, even on a second look.
Oh I was very curious to see the new Kristen Callihan cover. Well I think I prefer the others but really like it though.
I do like the lighter toned covers, for some reason, since so many have gone the dark route lately. Stands out more on the shelf.
I am reading Moonglow (Darkest London) by Kristen Callihan now (exceptional book as the first one was) and from the cover it seems she is going to stick with her lineup of red haired women in the next one
There must be a personal story in that someplace.
I am just happy if the cover model and the character at least resemble each other…I never did get the perky blonde cover model when the heroine is Asian thing.
The most laughable example was the original cover for WANTED: UNDEAD OR ALIVE! Love at Stake book #12 which had a white guy on the cover for Phineas
I don’t think any of those covers made it out into circulation .
At least with the last Thea Harrison novella, which featured a light green-skinned Medusa, they just put the vampire hero on the front. Good call.
That last cover scares me too! Noooo…..
Good lord, it gets worse every time I look at it…shudder.
I got to admit that out of 4 covers you got 1 that looks like a zombie and one that looks like a serial killer
Ugh, pretty much sums it up. Where have all the cover “artists” gone…
