There were so, so many new books hitting the shelves this week – I think it was the biggest release week so far this year, actually. I am reading the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill right now, so I am looking forward to this week’s release of Biting Cold. And Lora Leigh‘s Breeds is one very, very guilty indulgence, so I am happy Stygian’s Honor is on the way. But my pick of the week is actually the final book from Christina Dodd‘s Chosen Ones series, Wilder. The thing about this series is that it doesn’t follow “normal” rules, with things like timeline jumps to move the story along. This one was never a top-tier series for me, but it was a good, solid read that I quite enjoyed.
As a young man, Aleksandr Wilder abandoned his duty–and for that lapse, he was tortured, tormented … and transformed. Now he prowls the tunnels beneath the city, fighting on the frontline against the forces of hell, never daring to dream that he can live as a man again.
After seven years fighting the world’s ultimate evil, Chosen One Charisma Fangorn has become a tough, strong warrior without illusions or joy…even her gift of hearing the earthsong has faded. Deaf to her own instincts, she never suspects that a monster lurks in the dark underneath the streets.
When Aleksandr finds Charisma under attack, he rescues and cares for her, and hope stirs once more in his heart…and in the world. But in the secret recesses of his soul, he knows the truth. A woman so exceptional woman never love a beast…could she?
The Chosen Ones reading list can be found HERE.
So, what are you excited to get your hands on this week?

Just waiting for The Book Depository to ship my copy! I’ve been looking forward to reading Aleksandr’s story
Me, too. Sounds like it has a beauty and the beast vibe going on, too. I wonder how far in the future this one jumps?
It looks like from the description (just re-read it again), it’s been 7 years since that team of Chosens. Were they still on their first year in the last book?
I think the first couple were in the first year, then there was a couple year jump for…John, I think (random mountain dude), then a year after that or so before Samuel’s story. I think, anyways.
Your memory is so much better than mine! Haha! It’s been too long since I’ve read these. I didn’t even remember those details (time span). Thanks for that!
Not sure on the good memory (can’t remember any of the character’s names except Samuel’s). We get too many books stuck in the brain.
I’m expecting 6 new books today. One is Lora Leigh’s new Breed; Probably I’ll read that one first. Next will be Time Untime then Throne of Glass(heard goods things about this author) then Julie Garwood’s newest and I forgot what the 6th book is. Must consult my list. This should do me for the next couple of weeks.
That does sound like a haul. I would be hitting Stygian’s Honor first, too – my secret shame. Do you get them right on release day, or do you have to wait for the mailman like I do? That annoys me to no end, but I do love to preorder, so you can’t make me happy either way.
You know, some I do and some I don’t. I’m a Prime Amazon menber, had to because of all the shipping fees do to the fact that I get so many books, and they usually get them to me by release day. I preorder major time.
That would be great – I order through the book Depository, where I save a lot (since Canadian prices are a pain), but the extra wait time is hard.
