Reader Question…

I recently received an email asking a question I just didn’t have the answer to, so I decided to take it to the experts.  Barbara asked…

I was wondering if you could help me to find the answer to a little curiosity about Kelley Armstrong’s “Women of the Otherworld”.  On Spellbound first and then again on 13 there is the mention of a Russian pack and it sounds like they know the guys from the American pack, but for the life of me I cannot remember in which book it was introduced first. I tried surfing the net but I didn’t have much luck (other than some reference to a possible connection with Elena) and to write on Kelley’s blog you need a registration and an “approval”(???). You mentioned that you read this series so maybe you know the answer but if you don’t (or if I am not supposed to bother you with such questions) do you know of any fansite or something of the like where I can ask a question related to the series? It’s a little thing but it’s driving me crazy.

Alright, folks.  Help a gal out.

  1. I did a little research because I couldn’t remember this myself. There was some rogue Russian werewolves in Frostbitten-book 10 when Clay & Elena went to Alaska. Is this what she’s looking for?

  2. You are right, Amber, it was first mentioned in Frostbitten but even there it sounded like they already know each other from some previous meeting or something … which I just cannot seem to remember at all, and when I checked Kelley Armstrong’s forum I found a mention to a possible link with Elena’s family. Does it make any sense? I hope someone can remember it. Anyway thanks to Kaleigha for the post and to everybody for the help.

  3. You are right, Amber, it was first mentioned in Frostbitten (chapter “Questions”) but even there it sounded like they already know each other (Elena speaks of Roman, the alpha of the russian pack like they are in contact) and someone on Kelley Armstrong’s official forum mentioned a possible connection with Elena’s family. Does it make any sense? I hope someone can solve this puzzle for me. Anyway, thank you all for the help, especially Kaleigha!

  4. hi ladies

The Russian Wolf pack was first mentioned in Kelley Armstrong’s FROSTBITTEN.

The ‘mutts’ as they were known, were not part of the main pack back in Russia and were hoping to establish their own territory in Alaska, by taking out some of the local wolf-shifters. Little did they know, that a couple of the wolves had originally been part of Jeremy and Clay’s pack.

The leader of the Russian pack was Roman and Jeremy had made contact with the Russian alpha following the incident where Reese’s finger was cut-off, and Noah’s grandfather was killed as a warning to other wolves. Also Elena had noted the accents of the mutts were Russian or Ukrainian.

The Russian pack is not related to Elena, but in Frostbitten –Roman–makes reference to Elena’s mother’s (Natalya Antonov) roots in Russia, saying they had 2 wolves in his pack with the same last name and perhaps they were a distant relative. But Elena was a bitten wolf, and did not come from a family line of shifters and both she and Roman noted that. Although, one never knows if Kelley will bring the Russian Pack back and some how Elena is distantly related.

    Hope this helps.
