Young Adult Spotlight

I haven’t done one of these posts in a while, so I figured I would give a shout out to a young adult title that caught my eye.  This time around, I have actually read this one, and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would.  Silver is the first book from author Talia Vance and her Bandia series, and while it was the pretty cover that caught my eye, it was the different take on the paranormal world that kept my attention.  It was a fast read, based on gods and mythology rather than your usual vamps and weres, but I never found myself getting bogged down like some supernatural history lesson.  If I had to compare, I would say this one gave me the same vibe as Jennifer L. Armentrout‘s books, which is a very good thing for me…

Synopsis…

“As I step into the room, a silver flash blurs my vision. Before I can take a breath, the world falls away.”

Brianna has always felt invisible. People stare right past her, including the one boy she can’t resist, Blake Williams. But everything changes at a house party where Brianna’s charm bracelet slips off and time stands still. In that one frozen, silver moment, Blake not only sees her, he recognizes something deep inside her she’s been hiding even from herself.

Discovering she is descended from Danu, the legendary Bandia of Celtic myth, Brianna finds herself questioning the truth of who she is. And when she accidentally binds her soul to Blake, their mutual attraction becomes undeniable.

But Blake has his own secret, one that could prove deadly for them both.

Bound together by forbidden magic, Brianna and Blake find themselves at the heart of an ancient feud that threatens to destroy their lives and their love.

Book two, Gold, will be released sometime next year.

  1. I love receiving new posts from Wicked Scribes. However, I am not interested in YA. Is there any way to omit the YA related info?

    • Hey Marcia…glad you like the posts. I don’t think there is a way to have just some of the posts come through and the young adult not, but I do try to be careful to put young adult in the post title so that those who are not interested don’t have to bother with them. I actually thought about doing the YA in a separate blog, but I don’t do enough posts to make it worthwhile. I will keep an eye out and see what I can find out.

    • Hey Neha…I am glad you started with the YA books because of here. There was no bigger snob than me at first, there was no way I would touch a young adult book. EVER. I slowly gave in because of the pretty covers, and now I really enjoy them. Some of them are just so well done, and like you say it can be a nice change of pace from the adult titles. I haven’t seen any of the series that you listed, but I will check them out.
