Pick of the Week…

On a totally unrelated note, my copy of Archangel’s Storm FINALLY made it here!  I was not amused at the extra wait, believe me.  Anyways, my pick of the week is one that I actually got my hands on a couple of weeks early, Cursed.  I love Jennifer L Armentrout, and this one was a stand alone book that has the potential to become the first in a series.  While I still enjoy the Sentinel and Lux series more, I was quite happy with this one.

Synopsis…

Dying sucks–and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things–including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden’s adopted father, a man she’s sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister’s hand again. And hell, she’d also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn’t?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not’ve been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

Was there anything you were excited to get your hands on this week, or are you like me and just getting caught up from what I was supposed to already have.

    • For me at least, Jennifer’s books don’t really read as YA. I don’t know why, but I find hers tend to strike me as more adult than most.

  1. I really liked Cursed too. Yes, I like her Lux & Covenant ones more, but still enjoyed it! I thought it had potential for continuing as well.

So glad you finally got your copy of Archangel’s Storm! I’m a little over 200 pages into it myself. Hope you enjoy it! I still need to read the novellas, but I might take a little break and come back to those :-)

      • I’ve been loving them! Great series. Definitely a new fan of Nalini. I’ve only got about 10 pages left which I will be reading on my lunch break :-)

      • Not yet, but I have those too! Not sure when I’ll get to those, but I hope to at least start them in the near future…there’s so many of them!

      • That is the hard part, when you just see a never-ending series and you haven’t started yet. That is why my Kenyon unread shelf is so out of control. God, it looks like there is about 900 of them.

      • Seriously, right? If I hadn’t started Kenyon’s DH books a couple years ago, I don’t know when I wouldn’t have gotten to them myself! I totally understand :-)

      • And then when I really want to feel like a loser, I take a peek at J.D. Robb’s In Death series….

      • LOL! Yeah, I’m not even going there. Aren’t there like 200 books in this series already? haha!
