To say that there is a lot of great stuff coming out this week is an epic understatement. Anything by Nalini Singh is a given, even if it is “just” a novella collection for the Psy/Changeling series like Wild Invitation is. But then…then I saw it. Somehow I had totally forgotten that this is the week for Mercy Thompson #7 from Patricia Briggs. That is just wrong on so many levels I can’t even say. So, surprisingly to me, my pick this week is Frost Burned (forgive me Nalini).
Shapeshifter Mercy Thompson’s life is calming down, at least enough that she can focus on mundane matters like Black Friday sales. But on her return, Mercy is unable to contact her mate, Alpha Adam Hauptman, or the other members of their pack. All she knows is that Adam is angry and in pain.
With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related – and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from the most unlikely of allies: the vampire seethe.

I still have high hopes that we will get our hands on a full book of Samuel’s POV, but who knows. If the schedule holds, it will be another year before we get the next book, which should be an Alpha and Omega story. Read slooowly and make it last.

So I’m a complete freak and couldn’t help myself. I did not follow your advice at all…possibly because I hadn’t read it yet. I bought both Frost Burn and Wild Invitation at midnight Tuesday morning (thank goodness for the ebook age). I gobbled up those stories like a kid in a candy store. I read all of Frost Burn and the last two stories (the new stuff) from Wild Invitation. I thought Frost Burn was awesome. Completely worth the wait. I can’t say enough about how Patricia Briggs came through. In my opinion she took her time and got it right.
Wild invitation was pretty good. If you read that series you know that there is a lot of action on the horizon. The stories were focused more on the time frame between previous books. So, although completely not the author’s fault, I wasn’t as invested.
Man, that is so me. I can’t wait to get Nalini’s, but I am anxious to get back into Mercy’s world since it has been so long since the last book. Decisions, decisions.
Loved Wild Invitation though I haven’t read frost Burned so can’t compare!
Veeery interested in getting Cooper’s story. The teaser on Nalini Singh’s site was really good.

I’m really looking forward to this one too! The wait has been too long! Adam…*sigh*
That one book per series every two years is a hard, hard thing to wait for.
Well, the book for next year is going to be another Mercy and the title is Night Broken. Can’t wait !
ooooh, I didn’t see that one! Excellent news. Thanks!
I’m so excited about this book!! I have my copy ordered and it just needs to show up in the mail.
I’ve read Wild Invitation already and enjoyed! I think I’m going to grab Frost Burned in hardcover though cuz her covers are amazing!!!
I read Singh’s and thought they were very good, but I have to say that Briggs’ release is blowing me away. It is *awesome*. I’m especially enjoying the Adam POVs!
