Cover Lover – 4 New Titles

There were a few much anticipated covers released recently, like Magic Shifts and Shards of Hope. There were a few other covers I sort of pushed off to the side, so I thought I might put a few of them together. Let’s start with a new one from Jennifer Ashley. Bear Attraction is title #6.5 in the Shifters Unbound series.

The second adult cover comes from a new series from Kate Baxter. The Last True Vampire is due out on June 2nd.

The next two are young adult releases. The first book from the new series from Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Thorns and Roses, is due out on May 5th.

And finally for today is The Heir. Originally The Selection series from Kiera Cass was set to be a trilogy, but word recently came down that there would be a couple of more published. The first of the new books will be called The Heir, and it will be out on May 5th.

The Bourbon Kings

Thanks once again go to Amber, who let me know that the cover and blurb have come out for The Bourbon Kings, the first book of the new series from J.R. Ward which will be released July 28th.

The-Bourbon-KingsThe #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood delivers the first novel in an enthralling new series set amid the shifting dynamics of a Southern family defined by wealth and privilege—and compromised by secrets, deceit, and scandal….

For generations, the Bradford family has worn the mantle of kings of the bourbon capital of the world. Their sustained wealth has afforded them prestige and privilege—as well as a hard-won division of class on their sprawling estate, Easterly. Upstairs, a dynasty that by all appearances plays by the rules of good fortune and good taste. Downstairs, the staff who work tirelessly to maintain the impeccable Bradford facade. And never the twain shall meet.

For Lizzie King, Easterly’s head gardener, crossing that divide nearly ruined her life. Falling in love with Tulane, the prodigal son of the bourbon dynasty, was nothing that she intended or wanted—and their bitter breakup only served to prove her instincts were right. Now, after two years of staying away, Tulane is finally coming home again, and he is bringing the past with him. No one will be left unmarked: not Tulane’s beautiful and ruthless wife; not his older brother, whose bitterness and bad blood know no bounds; and especially not the ironfisted Bradford patriarch, a man with few morals, fewer scruples, and many, many terrible secrets.

As family tensions—professional and intimately private—ignite, Easterly and all its inhabitants are thrown into the grips of an irrevocable transformation, and only the cunning will survive.

From what I understand, there is already word coming out that the new series has been optioned for a television series. Will you be following this new Ward series, or are you sticking to her more supernatural stories?

Cover Lover – Shards of Hope

So, yesterday I had my annual run-away-from-home, based around going to get my copies of Archangel’s Shadows and Burn For Me. Unfortunately, Burn For Me was not available…which sucked big time. Thank god for the i-pad, because I wasn’t long downloading that sucker. Anyways, I stumble home only to find that the cover for the next Nalini Singh Psy/Changeling book Shards of Hope, had been released. That is a nice treat, for sure. Now we just have to wait until June 2nd for Aden’s story.

Cover Lover – Magic Shifts

My last post was the recently released blurb for Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews, and so I figured that it would be it for a while. Imagine my surprise when I got home from work tonight and saw the cover had been released. I found a few more new covers, too, but they can wait until a later post. Behold, Magic Shifts, which will be released next August 4th.

There has been a change in cover model, which actually doesn’t bother me as long as the basic feel of a cover stays the same throughout a series. I am liking this one, and the greenish tones will stand out well on the shelf.

Cover Lover – Two Kenyons and an Armentrout

Well, it is time for an updating of the new release date pages. I recently added quite a few new titles, and over the next couple of days I will be doing a date-check to make sure things are still coming out when they said they were going to. I try and do it every 6 weeks or so, just because publishers love nothing more than switching the dates around. So, if you see disarray for the next couple of days, you know what is going on.

These new covers remind me it is time to update the author pages. Again. Anyways, a while back I had posted what I thought was the final cover for Jennifer L. Armentrout‘s The Return, the first book of her Covenant spin-off series featuring Seth. Looks like there was a change of plans, though, and the new cover will be looking like this…

the returnThe Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

And next up are two Sherrilyn Kenyon covers. This first one has actually been out for a few days, but I couldn’t find a decent sized version. It is from her League series, and it is called Born of Defiance. It will be out on May 12th.

born of defianceBorn an Outcast, Talyn Batur has spent the whole of his life fighting against the prejudice of his people. An Andarion without a father is not something anyone wants to be.

But when his companion’s brother draws him into a plot against the Andarion crown, he finds himself torn between the loyalty to their planetary government that his mother has beaten into him and his own beliefs of justice and right.

Now, he must decide for himself to remain a pawn of their government or to defy everything and everyone he’s ever known to stand up to tyranny. It’s a gamble that will either save his life or end it. And when old enemies align with new ones, it’s more than just his own life at risk. And more than just his homeworld that will end should he fail.

And this last one is from Sherrilyn Kenyon‘s Dark-Hunter series. Dragonbane is #37412 of the series (or close to it), and it due out on August 4th.

dragonbaneOut of all the mysterious boarders who call Sanctuary home, no one is more antisocial or withdrawn than Maxis Drago. But then, it’s hard to blend in with the modern world when you have a fifty foot wingspan.

Centuries ago, he was cursed by an enemy who swore to see him fall. An enemy who took everything from him and left him forever secluded.

But Fate is a bitch, with a wicked sense of humor. And when she throws old enemies together and threatens the wife he thought had died centuries ago, he comes back with a vengeance. Modern day New Orleans has become a battleground for the oldest of evils. And two dragons will hold the line, or go down in flames.

Yep, two more Kenyon’s to add to the pile. But, I have a plan. I am considering 2015 to be the “Year of Kenyon”, and I am determined to read all of the Kenyon books on Mount TBR…and do a character guide for the Dark-Hunters.

Cover Lover – 10 New Titles

It has been a while since I have done a cover post, and it looks like we have 10 to take a peek at today. This first one is from Darynda Jones and her Charley Davidson series. Eighth Grave After Dark is due out on May 19th.

And finishing things off for today’s post is The Death Code by Lindsay Cummings. It is the second book of the Murder Complex series, and it is due out on April 21st.

Any likes, loves, or loathes? I must admit that I was a huge fan of the early Charley Davidson covers, the ones that featured the model wearing “reaper wear”, but the last few haven’t been quite as stand-out. Either way, the book promises to be a blast, though.

Deceptions Cover Reveal…and a Reader Question

First off, I have a quick question sent over by Peggy. She is heading to the Immortal book signing by J.R. Ward (lucky), and she was wondering if the books sold there were offered at discount or full price? I haven’t been to a book signing, so I had no clue. Can anyone else help Peggy out and tell her how things work?

I thought I had dug up most of the new covers, but Amber sent over a link to the new cover for Deceptions, the third book from Kelley Armstrong‘s Cainsville series. I haven’t made any secret of my love for this new series, and I am excited to get my hands on this one when it comes out…next October. Ugh. There has been a big design change for the US version, and that makes me wonder what the Canadian one will look like. I really liked the US covers for the first two, but this one looks very interesting, too.

deceptionsAnd a little blurby goodness to go along with the cover reveal…

Olivia’s life has exploded. She’s discovered she’s not only adopted, but her real parents are convicted serial killers. Fleeing the media frenzy, she took refuge in the oddly secluded town of Cainsville. She has since solved the town’s mysteries and finds herself not only the target of its secretive elders, but also her stalker ex-fiancé.

Visions continue to haunt her: particularly a little blond girl in a green sundress who insists she has an important message for Olivia, one that may help her balance the light and darkness within herself. Death stalks Olivia and the two men most important to her, as she desperately searches to understand whether ancient scripts are dictating their triangle. Will darkness prevail or does Olivia have the power to prevent a tragic fate?

Cover Lover – 11 New Titles

Usually Tuesday is the day I do my pick of the week post, but to be honest there isn’t much this week that I am too excited about. So, instead, I will do a cover lover post. Let’s start with the young adult books, for a change. The Winner’s Crime is the second book from Marie Rutoski‘s The Winner’s Trilogy, and it is due out on March 3rd.

Next up is Rogue Wave, which is the second book of the Waterfire Saga from Jennifer Donnelly . It is due out on January 6th.

And staying with the color scheme of the last couple of covers is Pure Blooded from Amanda Carlson. It should be out early 2015.

And the final one for today is from Chris Marie Green. Every Breath You Take is from the Jensen Murphy, Ghost For Hire series, and it is due out on April 7th.

Are any of these something you are looking forward to? Every time I see a Jane Yellowrock cover, I kick myself for not starting the series yet.

Cover Lover – Midnight’s Kiss

Today was the big cover and blurb reveal for the next Elder Races book from Thea Harrison, Midnight’s Kiss. After the last book, I did figure that Julian and Melisande would be getting their own story, but I didn’t think it would be the next one. I was rather hoping for a return to the Wyr, actually, since I missed them in Xavier’s book. Either way, Midnight’s Kiss is due out on May 1st.

midnight's kiss

In the latest Novel of the Elder Races, two souls who have long buried their passions are about to be consumed …

Ever since their scorching affair ended years ago, Julian, the Nightkind King, and Melisande, daughter of the Light Fae Queen, have tried to put the past behind them — and distance between them. But when a war breaks out between Julian and Justine, a powerful Vampyre of the Nightkind council, they find themselves thrown together under treacherous circumstances …

Kidnapped as leverage against Julian, Melly is convinced that her former lover won’t be rushing to her rescue. But when Julian gives himself up to save her, they both end up Justine’s captives. Armed only with their wits and their anger, Melly and Julian must work together to escape. But will they be able to ignore their complicated history, or will the fiery passion that once burned them blaze again?

Hm, not quite feeling the cover, to be honest. And I have a quirk about books where the couple was a couple before and end up getting back together. I like to see the whole relationship develop, rather than have their past alluded to, but we shall see.

Cover Lover – 2 New Titles

This is a quiet week for new series, and I didn’t really have a pick of the week, either. Instead, it looks like I will be doing another little cover lover post. Let’s start with the second book from Jacquelyn Frank‘s new Immortal Brothers series. Cursed by Ice will be released on March 31st.

cursed by icePurchase at Amazon.com

And this second new one is from Alexandra Ivy. When Darkness Ends is the last traditionally published Guardians of Eternity book, and it is due out on May 26th.

when darkness endsPurchase at Amazon.com

I am not looking forward to seeing the end of the Guardians, I must admit. I know that they will continue in a non-traditionally published way, but I never seem to follow them as well when they go to self-pubbed. Going to have to try and keep this one on my radar, though.
