Pick of the Week…

This is one of those weeks that are great for YA readers, not so hot for the rest. In fact, there was only one adult non e-book title to hit the shelves today, but luckily for me it is one that I am actually looking forward to. My pick of the week is Amanda Carlson‘s Hot Blooded.

hot bloodedSynopsis…

It hasn’t been the best week for Jessica McClain.

Her mate has been kidnapped by a Goddess hell-bent on revenge — but Jessica is playing for keeps.

Because she’s the only female werewolf in town…it comes with its own set of rules…and powers.

Aided by two vamps, two loyal Pack members, and one very reluctant human, Jessica must rescue her man while coming to terms with what being a wolf really means.

All in a day’s work for a girl.

I enjoyed the first book and the novella, but I will need to do a quick review of them before I dive into this one. I remember that there was a cliffhanger ending…and then nada. Lord, the memory is getting bad.

Cover Lover – 7 New Titles

Today is the usual day for my pick of the week post, but since I didn’t have one it looks like it is cover lover time, instead. For this post, there are seven newbies that I found between Goodreads and Amazon.com. Here goes…I enjoyed Amanda Carlson‘s first Jessica McClain book, and now it looks like the cover is out for the third, Cold Blooded, which will be released on October 8th.

cold blooded

This next one is actually the paperback cover for Karen Marie Moning‘s Iced, which will be released later this year. I was disappointed in this one, since the hardcover art was amazing, and this one gave me a home-made vibe. I am just finishing up Shadowfever, and then Iced is after that. Can’t wait.

And number three is from Molly Harper‘s Naked Werewolf series. How to Run with a Naked Werewolf will be released on December 31st.

Looks like Jaye Wells has a new series starting up early next year. Dirty Magic will be the first book of The Prospero’s War. I am going to have to look into this one a bit more.

And Kate Locke‘s next Immortal Empire book, Long Live the Queen, will be released on November 12th.

long live the queen

These next two are young adult titles. Got to say, this next one is not the most thrilling cover I have ever seen, but Erased is the second book from Jennifer Rush‘s new series.

And this last one is from Kami Garcia‘s upcoming series, The Legion. Unbreakable will be released on October 1st.

New Release Info…

newsIt is time again for a double-check on all of the authors listed in the Series Reading List pages. I have finished A-D, and between that and a random search there were a couple of interesting things I came across…

  • The second book in Jean Johnson‘s Guardians of Destiny series will be called The Grove, and it will be released on December 3rd.
  • The October 29th Black Wings book from Christina Henry now has a title. It looks like this one will be called Black Heart.
  • Kate Locke‘s third Immortal Empire book will be called Long Live the Queen, and it will also be released on October 29th.
  • Cold Blooded, the third book from Amanda Carlson‘s Jessica McClain series, will be released on October 8th.
  • It looks like Caris Roane‘s Ascension series is indeed ending. Born in Chains, her October 1st release, is part of a new series called Men in Chains.
  • August 27th is the release date for the next Kerrelyn Sparks book, this one called The Vampire with the Dragon Tattoo.
  • If you are a fan of Cat Adams‘ Blood Singer series, the sixth book will be called To Dance With the Devil and it will be out on November 5th.
  • The release date is TBA, but it looks like Midnight Breed #12 from Lara Adrian will be called Crave the Night.
  • November 5th is also the release date for a G.A. Aiken Dragon Kin novella. No other info available as yet.
  • The second book of Alyssa Day‘s new League of the Black Swan series will be called The Unforgiven.
  • There will be another Morganville Vampires book from Rachel Caine. This next one will be called Daylighters, and it will be released on November 5th.
  • This October, Jacqueline Carey will release the second book of her new Agent of Hel series, Autumn Bones.

  • Dakota Cassidy‘s 8th Accidental Friends book, The Accidental Werewolf: Something About Harry, will be coming out on December 3rd.
  • This December, Andrea Cremer returns to her Nightshade world with the release of book 4, Snakeroot.
  • There is some Kresley Cole news that I was happy to hear. Book two of her YA Arcana Chronicles series, Endless Night, will be coming out on October 1st, and the second Dacians book (title TBA) will be released on December 3rd.

Here is the blurb for Endless Night, and by the sounds of it things are about to get very interesting…

In the second book of the Arcana Chronicles Evie has now fully come into her powers as the tarot Empress. And Jackson was there to see it all. In the aftermath of killing Arthur, the tarot Alchemist, Evie realizes that a war is brewing between the other teens that, following the apocalypse, have been given powers and its kill or be killed. Things get even more complicated when Evie meets Death, the mysterious, sexy Endless Knight. Somehow the Empress and Death share a romantic history – one that Evie can’t remember, but Death can’t forget. She is drawn to the Endless Knight, but is in love with Jack. Determined to discover why she’s been granted these powers, Evie struggles to accept her place in a prophecy that will either save the world, or completely destroy it.

New Series Alert…

There is one new series hitting the shelves this week, and from what I have seen so far early reviews have been very positive.  Full Blooded is the first book of the Jessica McClain series by Amanda Carlson, but there is a prequel novella that came out a few months ago called Blooded.

Synopsis…

Born the only female in an all male race, Jessica McClain isn’t just different—she’s feared.

After living under the radar for the last twenty-six years, Jessica is thrust unexpectedly into her first change, a full ten years late. She wakes up and finds she’s in the middle of a storm. Now that she’s become the only female full-blooded werewolf in town, the supernatural world is already clamoring to take a bite out of her and her new Pack must rise up and protect her.

The Jessica McClain reading list is HERE.

Has anyone checked this out yet?  I am thinking that I will probably grab Blooded tonight and see how things go.

Cover Lover – 4 New Titles

Cue evil laughter…

This is me, cackling madly.  Anyone who saw the post directly below this one (pick of the week) has already been bored by my love of Jennifer L. Armentrout‘s Lux series (and the Sentinel series, but that is a story for another day).  So, you can imagine my joy when I found the cover for her third book in the series, Opal.  And it isn’t even that long of a wait for it, since it is due out on December 11th.

*Edit – Amber has pointed out that the author has stated that this is not the official cover, even though I did find it at Amazon.com.  I am going to keep it posted just for the pretty, but things could be a changin’.

Moving on, Amazon also upped the cover for Hot Blooded, the second book from Amanda Carlson‘s Jessica McClain series.  This one is due out on April 23rd.

I am continuing my love affair with white covers.  This time it is from Katie Reus and her Moon Shifters series.  Mating Instinct will be released on March 5th.

And this final one is from author Terry Spear and her Wolf Shifter series.  A Highland Werewolf Wedding will be released sometime next year.

Cover Lover – 11 New Titles

A lot of these are recycled from All Things Urban Fantasy, so once again many thanks.  This first one is from new author Amanda Carlson and her Jessica McClain series.  Full Blooded will be released on September 11th.

Looks like someone got a bit wonky on the cropping for this one, but After Moonrise is the October 23rd duology featuring Gena Showalter and P.C. Cast.

The third book from Tami Dane‘s Sloan Skye series, Blood of Dawn, now has a cover.  It is due out on December 1st.

Darynda Jones starts up a new series this October called Darklight.  Book two, called Death, Doom and Detention, will be released on March 5th.

There will be another novella from Brigid Kemmerer‘s Elementals series, this one called Fearless.  It will be available on July 31st.

The second of three re-releases from Alexandra Ivy, My Lord Eternity is due to hit the shelves again on December 1st.

This one freaks me out a little.  Shatter Me‘s paperback cover is quite the departure from the Tahereh Mafi hardcover version, but at least it is attention grabbing.  This one will be re-released in paperback format on October 2nd.

Jana Oliver‘s next Demon Trappers book, Foretold, has been pushed back to a December 11th release date, and was also given a new cover.  I find this one works way better in keeping with the “theme” of the other covers in the series.

This next one is from author Susannah Sandlin and her Penton Legacy series.   Absolution will be released this September 18th.

Breaking Point, the second book from Kristen Simmons‘ Article 5 series, will be released on February 5th.

And this last one is quite the biggie for young adult readers.  Finale, the last book in Becca Fitzpatrick‘s Hush Hush series, will be out on October 23rd.
