Yay! I survived another marathon work weekend, so looks like three days of being a computer blob are coming up. The basic layout for the site is pretty much ok, but now I want to try and change a few things design wise. If anyone finds any issues, please feel free to let me know (broken links/design issues/things looking funky on different screens, that sort of thing).
On the E-book front, it looks like there is only one newbie being released this week. His Broken Angel is a novella from Beth Ciotta‘s Glorious, Victorious Darcys series.
Doc Blue has never had it easy. Born a Freak, the offspring of a Vic—a native Victorian—and a Mod—a time traveler from the future—he’s lived on the fringes of society, hiding his true identity and preternatural healing abilities from even his closest friends. His brief support of the Freak rebellion has only left him with even more problems, losing him both his job and one of his greatest allies, the Sky Cowboy, Tucker Gentry. So when Tuck’s kid sister, Lily, ends up blinded in an air skirmish on her way from America to England, Doc jumps at the opportunity to be the one to rescue her and use his powers to mend her wounds.
Curing Lily proves harder than anticipated, and Doc realizes that to restore her sight he will have to spill his biggest secret and embrace his Freak nature like never before. But, with Lily’s help, Doc may be able to reach the full potential of his abilities, heal Lily’s broken heart, and learn, finally, how to open his.
Has anyone tried this series yet? I am not a big steampunk lover (with a grand total of one whole novella being my total reading experience for the genre), but these do sound like they could be fun.
In a week that has quite a few new releases coming out, strangely enough there is only one new series heading our way. Beth Ciotta debuts her Glorious Victorious Darcys series this week with the release of Her Sky Cowboy.
Amelia Darcy has no interest in marrying well. Her heart belongs to the sky and the dirigibles of brass and steel that swoop over Victorian England. But when her father, an eccentric inventor, dies, the Darcy siblings are left with scrap metal—and not a penny to their names.
Their only hope to save the family reputation and fortune is to embark on a quest to discover an invention of historical importance in honor of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. Armed with only her father’s stories of a forgotten da Vinci workshop, a mechanically enhanced falcon, and an Italian cook, Amelia takes flight for Florence, Italy.
But her quest is altered when her kitecycle crashes into the airship of ex–Air Marshal—and scandalous dime novel hero—Tucker Gentry. Tuck agrees to escort Amelia to her destination, but the two are challenged by political unrest, a devious sky pirate, and their own sizzling attraction. Soon the pair is dragged into an international conspiracy that could change the course of history…again.
The Glorious Victorious Darcys reading list is HERE.
After getting behind the last week or so, I debated about going back and tracking down what covers I had missed, but it didn’t seem like too many at all. This batch is a bit on the bigger side, with a couple of good ones. Devon Monk continues her Allie Beckstrom series with the release of Magic for a Price on November 6th.
This one is from author Caris Roane. Gates of Rapture is the 6th book in her Guardians of Ascension series, due out on December 26th.
Hmm, nice. The cover is out for the second book in Stephanie Tyler‘s Eternal Wolf Clan series, Dire Wants. This one will be released on November 6th.
Beth Ciotta starts up a new series this November called The Glorious Victorious Darcys. Book one will be called Her Sky Cowboy.
King of the Damned is the title of the next book from Juliana Stone‘s League of Guardians series, which is due out on November 27th.
Werewolf in Denver is the next book from Vicki Lewis Thompson‘s Wild About You series, which is due out on October 2nd.
And this final one is from author Maurissa Guibord. I haven’t heard anything about Revel yet, other than that it is Young Adult, and will be released in hardcover on February 12th.
