Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

I don’t have a pick of the week to post this time, so instead it looks like cover lover time instead. There are five this go round, starting with a couple of novella covers. First up is Double Hexed, a Stormwalker story from Jennifer Ashley. Look for it on May 20th.

double hexedThe next novella is also from Jennifer Ashley, but it is from her Shifters Unbound series. Perfect Mate is also due out on May 20th.

The Girl Who Kissed a Lie is a prequel novella from Skylar Dorset and her Otherworld series. This one is due out on May 6th.

Caris Roane‘s next Men in Chains book is called Unchained, and it is due out on November 25th.

Um, wow. This next one is…interesting. I am getting a jazz-dancer vibe, and the spandex legging things are not helping. Lord. Anyways, Lolita Lopez‘s next Dragon Heat story will be called Renegade Dragon, and it has a release date of August 5th.

From the Author Pages…

Yep, updating time yet again. What with some new cover art out and all, I thought I would actually get some updating done on the author pages, and I came across a few new tidbits along the way…

  • The second book from Alexandra Ivy‘s new Sentinels series will be called Blood Assassin, and it will be out next January 6th.
  • Alyssa Day‘s long delayed Alejandro’s Sorceress, a novella from her Warriors of Poseidon series, will be released in an anthology called Dark and Deadly: Eight Bad Boys of Paranormal Romance. Amazon doesn’t have a pre-order listing for it yet, but Goodreads shows it as an April 14th release. Other authors include Jennifer Ashley, Laurie London and Caris Roane, among others.
  • Wow. It looks like 2015 will see a new series from Chloe Neill. Details are sketchy as yet, but there is a brief teaser synopsis…

After humans overcome a shocking attack by supernaturals centered in the Crescent City—the Second Battle of New Orleans—supernaturals are forced into a walled community known as the District. It’s not good—or safe—to have magic, so Claire Connolly risks everything when she uses her secret magic to protect a friend. Claire quickly learns the world is more complicated than she ever knew . . . and allies are hard to come by.

  • I have said this before, but Christine Feehan is getting back into a break-neck writing pace…which is great. There have been a few updates about each of her four ongoing series, some of which I have already mentioned (but here goes again). She already has the next two Sisters of the Heart books done after Air Bound, which are called Earth Bound and Fire Bound. Cat’s Lair is the next Leopard book, and it will see a return to Texas. The hero is the shifter who donated to Drake to allow him to be able to shift again after his leg was badly injured. The next Ghostwalker book (Wyatt’s story) will be Viper Game, and she will be starting the one after that shortly. Spider Game will also be back in the Bayou, and both stories will focus on the mysterious team four. And finally, the next Dark book is also in the works, and it looks like it will be called Dark Ghost. Whew.
  • And finally, it looks like Thea Harrison will continue to add to her Elder Races series with frequent e-novellas. Coming in at #6.6 is Pia Saves the Day, which is listed as a June release…

pia saves the dame

In the latest story of the Elder Races, two mates face their deadliest challenge yet—each other…

Pia and Dragos’s magical young son Liam (the Peanut), is growing at an unprecedented rate, and if that isn’t enough, he is also exhibiting new, and unpredictable, magical gifts. To protect him, the concerned parents decide to move to upstate New York.

Both Dragos and Pia relish the idea of leaving behind the city. They finally have the space to indulge their Wyr side, and Liam can grow in safety. It’s a breath of fresh air—literally—but their idyllic situation is shattered when Dragos is injured in a freak accident.

Stripped of his memory and bereft of Pia’s taming influence, there’s nothing holding back Dragos’s darkest side. And in order to restore her family and save her mate, Pia must confront the most powerful menace in Elder Races history.

It’s going to take more than a penny to fix this…

Ok, that wraps up this update. Have you heard anything new to share?

New Series Alerts…

There wasn’t much going on this weekend, but at least there are a few new series to look forward to. The first one is an e-book series from C.J. Barry called the Soul series. The first book is called Redemption.

redemptionSynopsis…

Reya Sinclair is a Redeemer of Souls. Her mission is to give Earth’s most depraved sinners a shot at redemption just before they are slated to die. Her own redemption is on the line as she fulfills her duties, leaving a trail of dead bodies in her wake. It’s all going perfectly well until one detective takes notice, possibly bringing her salvation to a halt.

Thane Driscoll is a good cop who’s seen too many bad guys get away, including the man who murdered his father. He exacts his own style of justice, even if it costs him his humanity. A string of mysterious deaths leads him to a woman who’s not quite human and might hold the key to finding his father’s killer.

When death and shadows descend, New York City becomes a battleground for the forces of light and dark. As the body count rises and sparks fly between them, Reya and Thane race to uncover a terrible truth. Can one man hell-bent on revenge and one woman determined to save her eternal soul be enough to keep the planet from spiraling into darkness?

New series number two is from S.J. Harper. Cursed is the first book of the Fallen Siren series.

cursedSynopsis…

Emma Monroe is a Siren, cursed by the gods and bound to earth to atone for an ancient failure. She’s had many names and many lives, but only one mission: redemption. Now that she works missing persons cases for the FBI, it could be just a rescue away. Unless her new partner leads her astray.

Special Agent Zack Armstrong just transferred into the San Diego Field Office. He’s a werewolf, doing his best to beat back the demons from his dark and dangerous past. As a former Black Ops sniper, he’s taken enough lives. Now he’s doing penance by saving them.

Emma and Zack’s very first case draws them deep into the realm of the paranormal, and forces them to use their own supernatural abilities. But that leaves each of them vulnerable, and there are lines partners should not cross. As secrets are revealed and more women go missing, one thing becomes clear: as they race to save the victims, Emma and Zack risk losing themselves.

This next one is Born in Chains from Caris Roane. It is the first book of her new Men in Chains series.

born in chainsSynopsis…

Adrien is an Ancestral vampire, one of the strongest of his kind ever to exist. Scarred, tormented and extraordinarily powerful, he’s been imprisoned high in the Himalayan mountains…until a beautiful woman releases him from his chains and demands his help.

Two years ago, Lily’s home was invaded by vampires who killed her family and kidnapped her son. Now she has one mission—to get him back. And the only man who can help her is a vampire whose strength has made him legendary. But can she ally herself a creature who frightens her…and ignites her darkest needs?

There are a couple of new Young Adult series starting up this week, too. Lauren DeStefano‘s Perfect Ruin is the first book of the Internment Chronicles.

perfect ruinSynopsis…

On Internment, the floating island in the clouds where 16-year-old Morgan Stockhour lives, getting too close to the edge can lead to madness. Even though Morgan’s older brother, Lex, was a Jumper, Morgan vows never to end up like him. She tries her best not to mind that her life is orderly and boring, and if she ever wonders about the ground, and why it is forbidden, she takes solace in best friend Pen and her betrothed, Basil.

Then a murder, the first in a generation, rocks the city. With whispers swirling and fear on the wind, Morgan can no longer stop herself from investigating, especially when she meets Judas. He is the boy being blamed for the murder — betrothed to the victim — but Morgan is convinced of his innocence. Secrets lay at the heart of Internment, but nothing can prepare Morgan for what she will find — or who she will lose.

And the final one for this week is from Kami Garcia. I have been looking forward to Unbreakable, which is the first book of the Legion series, for a while now.

unbreakableSynopsis…

I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me.

When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, her world begins to unravel. She doesn’t know that paranormal forces in a much darker world are the ones pulling the strings. Not until identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into Kennedy’s room and destroy a dangerous spirit sent to kill her. The brothers reveal that her mother was part of an ancient secret society responsible for protecting the world from a vengeful demon — a society whose five members were all murdered on the same night.

Now Kennedy has to take her mother’s place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon — battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.

What are you looking forward to from this batch? I wasn’t going to buy Kami Garcia’s book until the reviews came in, but of course I don’t have that kind of control and pre-ordered it already.

Are any of these on your must-buy list? I know there are a few that will be heading my way.

Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

Well, it looks like there is a bit of a run going on for cover reveals the last couple of weeks. This time around, I have five newbies to show off, most of whom came once again from Goodreads. Caris Roane starts a new series, Men in Chains, with the release of Born in Chains on October 1st.

born in chains

Fangs for Nothing, the second duology from Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love, will be released on July 2nd.

fangs for nothing

Yasmine Galenorn is great about showing her cover art early, and this one for Autumn Whispers is no exception. Look for it on September 24th.

autumn whispers

Amazon doesn’t have a listing for this one yet, but Meljean Brook has upped the cover for her upcoming Iron Seas novella, Tethered.

tethered

And this final one is from Gena Showalter‘s White Rabbit Chronicles series. Through the Zombie Glass will be released later this year.

through the zombie glass

I am not feeling Born in Chains, to be honest. Or Fangs for Nothing, either. But I think that both Autumn Whispers and Tethered are great. I do find it a bit sad that the cover for Tethered, an e-novella, is better than a lot of covers you see for full print releases. I am very glad that they kept the theme going for the White Rabbit Chronicles books, and while I don’t like this one quite as much as the one for Alice in Zombieland, I am still really happy with it. Any one in particular you are loving?

New Release Info…

newsIt is time again for a double-check on all of the authors listed in the Series Reading List pages. I have finished A-D, and between that and a random search there were a couple of interesting things I came across…

  • The second book in Jean Johnson‘s Guardians of Destiny series will be called The Grove, and it will be released on December 3rd.
  • The October 29th Black Wings book from Christina Henry now has a title. It looks like this one will be called Black Heart.
  • Kate Locke‘s third Immortal Empire book will be called Long Live the Queen, and it will also be released on October 29th.
  • Cold Blooded, the third book from Amanda Carlson‘s Jessica McClain series, will be released on October 8th.
  • It looks like Caris Roane‘s Ascension series is indeed ending. Born in Chains, her October 1st release, is part of a new series called Men in Chains.
  • August 27th is the release date for the next Kerrelyn Sparks book, this one called The Vampire with the Dragon Tattoo.
  • If you are a fan of Cat Adams‘ Blood Singer series, the sixth book will be called To Dance With the Devil and it will be out on November 5th.
  • The release date is TBA, but it looks like Midnight Breed #12 from Lara Adrian will be called Crave the Night.
  • November 5th is also the release date for a G.A. Aiken Dragon Kin novella. No other info available as yet.
  • The second book of Alyssa Day‘s new League of the Black Swan series will be called The Unforgiven.
  • There will be another Morganville Vampires book from Rachel Caine. This next one will be called Daylighters, and it will be released on November 5th.
  • This October, Jacqueline Carey will release the second book of her new Agent of Hel series, Autumn Bones.
  • The second book from Gail Carriger‘s spin off from her popular Parasol Protectorate series, Curtsies and Conspiracies, will be released on November 5th.
  • Dakota Cassidy‘s 8th Accidental Friends book, The Accidental Werewolf: Something About Harry, will be coming out on December 3rd.
  • This December, Andrea Cremer returns to her Nightshade world with the release of book 4, Snakeroot.
  • There is some Kresley Cole news that I was happy to hear. Book two of her YA Arcana Chronicles series, Endless Night, will be coming out on October 1st, and the second Dacians book (title TBA) will be released on December 3rd.

Here is the blurb for Endless Night, and by the sounds of it things are about to get very interesting…

In the second book of the Arcana Chronicles Evie has now fully come into her powers as the tarot Empress. And Jackson was there to see it all. In the aftermath of killing Arthur, the tarot Alchemist, Evie realizes that a war is brewing between the other teens that, following the apocalypse, have been given powers and its kill or be killed. Things get even more complicated when Evie meets Death, the mysterious, sexy Endless Knight. Somehow the Empress and Death share a romantic history – one that Evie can’t remember, but Death can’t forget. She is drawn to the Endless Knight, but is in love with Jack. Determined to discover why she’s been granted these powers, Evie struggles to accept her place in a prophecy that will either save the world, or completely destroy it.

This and That…

newsAs always, in the process of updating the new release pages, I found a few more books that are on the horizon.

  • The second book of Coreene Callahan‘s new Knight Avenged series has been pushed way back to April 8th of next year.
  • November 5th will see the next Bound by Magick book from Lauren Dane, called Burning Wild.
  • November 5th is also the date for a Thea Harrison Elder Races book, a Meljean Brook Iron Seas book, and Nalini Singh‘s next Guild Hunter book (featuring Raphael and Elena).  All have titles TBA.
  • Author Lauren Kate‘s Fallen series (supposedly being optioned for a movie) is finished, so it looks like she is turning her attention to a new series, called Teardrop.  The first book, also called Teardrop, will be hitting the shelves on October 22nd.
  • October 1st is the release date for Caris Roane‘s next Ascension novel, Born in Chains.
  • Rather than info, this is more like lack of info.  Christine Feehan was recently asked what she would be working on next, and she said that after the long delayed Leopard’s Prey she was in fact without a contract.  She was not sure what would be coming, or when we would get it.  If I remember correctly, this same situation came up last year with Ms. Feehan, which just seems so strange to me.
  • The next H&W Investigations book from Jess Haines, Forsaken by the Others, will be released on July 30th.
  • Hannah Jayne‘s next Underworld Detection Agency novel, Under a Spell, will be out on August 13th.
  • To Kiss a Dragon is the title of the next G.A. Aiken Dragon Kin book, and it is scheduled for release on October 1st.  No clue who this one is about, and if ever there was a series that needed a character guide, this is it.
  • The pre-order links are up for Keri Arthur‘s 6th Dark Angels book, Darkness Splintered.  It will be out on November 5th.
  • A couple of weeks ago, word came out that Devon Monk was starting an Allie Beckstrom spin-off series called Broken Magic.  Well, the pre-order links for the first book, Hell Bent, are up now.  It is due out on November 5th.
  • October 1st is the release date for the next Cassie Palmer book from author Karen Chance, called Tempt the Stars.

Anything there you are looking forward to, or are you giving most of them a pass?  It looks like there is a ton coming out on November 5th, for some odd reason, so might have to save up for that weeks’ order.

Cover Lover – 7 New Titles

After getting behind the last week or so, I debated about going back and tracking down what covers I had missed, but it didn’t seem like too many at all.  This batch is a bit on the bigger side, with a couple of good ones.  Devon Monk continues her Allie Beckstrom series with the release of Magic for a Price on November 6th.

This one is from author Caris RoaneGates of Rapture is the 6th book in her Guardians of Ascension series, due out on December 26th.

Hmm, nice.  The cover is out for the second book in Stephanie Tyler‘s Eternal Wolf Clan series, Dire Wants.  This one will be released on November 6th.

Beth Ciotta starts up a new series this November called The Glorious Victorious Darcys.  Book one will be called Her Sky Cowboy.

King of the Damned is the title of the next book from Juliana Stone‘s League of Guardians series, which is due out on  November 27th.

Werewolf in Denver is the next book from Vicki Lewis Thompson‘s Wild About You series, which is due out on October 2nd.

And this final one is from author Maurissa Guibord.  I haven’t heard anything about Revel yet, other than that it is Young Adult, and will be released in hardcover on February 12th.
