Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

Another day, another raiding of the new covers over at Goodreads. Looks like just five caught my eye this time around, and I am seeing a blue theme. This first one is the cover for the second book in Gail Carriger‘s newly released Finishing School series, Curtsies and Conspiracies. It will be released on November 5th.

Numero deux is from the upcoming 12th book in Carrie Vaughn‘s Kitty Norville series, Kitty in the Underworld. It will be out on July 30th.

And still withe the blue. The third book in Darynda Jones‘ Darklight series is called Death and the Girl He Loves, and it will be available on October 8th.

I haven’t actually heard much about this one, but I am working under the assumption that The Coldest Girl in Cold Town from Holly Black is YA, and that is about all I know. It will be hitting the shelves on September 17th.

The final one for this post is pretty, but then so are the rest of the covers in Keri Arthur‘s Dark Angels series. Darkness Unmasked will be released on June 4th.

Random Updates…

archangel's kissWow, hard to believe, but this is actually post number 1001.  Way back on August 11th, 2009 I started with a Cover Lover post that featured Nalini Singh‘s Archangel’s Kiss.  I think I checked every five minutes for the next few days to see if anyone had actually viewed it…such a nerd.  So, forward a few years, and things haven’t really changed.  Things have expanded a bit, and the look has changed a few times, but other than that things are pretty much still the same (and I am still a nerd).

On the site side of things, I have updated all of the Series Reading List pages, so all of the book lists are as up-to-date as I could get them.  I took the opportunity to finally work on the long neglected Completed Series List page, as well.  There are some that I think are finished that I didn’t add, since I couldn’t find official word that they were in fact over.  I will be keeping an eye on them, but if you see any that I missed feel free to give me a shout.  Also, WordPress decided to play with the way that the code for linking to a specific spot on a page was worded, which meant that all of those “Blah Blah reading list HERE” links no longer worked.  I do believe that I got that dealt with as well (each one had to be redone individually, so I hope I didn’t miss any).

On the Character Guide front, I added one a couple weeks back for Kresley Cole‘s Arcana Chronicles (speaking of which, it looks like book two, Endless Knight, will not be out until next October).  I also got Thea Harrison‘s Elder Races guide up to date and added the info for Lord’s Fall, and I am almost done the rough copy for the last two Darynda Jones Charley Davidson books.  That one should be FINALLY updated by the middle of this week.  That just leaves me Archangel’s Storm and a Mythos Academy book to get caught up.  Yay.

There are a few newbies to add to the New Release pages, as well…

  • It looks like Linda Poitevin will release another Grigori Legacy book in 2013, this one called Sins of the Righteous.
  • Also due next year is the third book in Adrian Phoenix‘s Hoodoo series, Black Moon Mojo.
  • The second book in Jamie Quaid‘s new Saturn’s Daughter series, Damn Him to Hell, will be released on June 25th.
  • There will be another Anna Strong book from Jeanne C. Stein coming out on August 27th.  Right now, the title is TBA.
  • Awaken the Damned is the title of the third League of Guardians book from Juliana Stone, and it will be released on June 25th.
  • Alpha Pack book number four from J.D. Tyler, Hunter’s Heart, will be released on September 3rd.
  • You will be able to get a new Kitty Norville book from Carrie Vaughn on July 30th.  This new one will be called Kitty in the Underworld.
  • Looks like there is also another Lupi book from Eileen Wilks in the works, as well.  Ritual Magic, Lupi #10, will be out next on August 6th.
  • Eternal Sin is the title of the 6th Mark of the Vampire book from Laura Wright.  Look for it next November.

Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

I am still in the process of adding a bunch to the new release pages, but on the plus side I did manage to get the character guide updated for The Ghostwalkers (and only a couple of months behind!  Go me…).   I did manage to find a couple of new covers for this week, though.

Night Resurrected is the sixth book from the Envy Chronicles by Joss Ware, and it is due out on February 26th.

Uh, ok.  This one makes me snicker.  I think it is the hat…and the…goggles.  Still laughing.  Anyways, The Chosen is the third book from Theresa Meyers‘ The Legend Chronicles, and it will be out on March 4th.

And next up is A Taste of Ice from Hanna Martine, the second book in her Elementals series, which will be hitting the shelves on December 31st.

Shona Husk starts up a new series next July with the release of The Outcast Prince.  I am still looking for the name of the new series, though.

And this final one is Kitty Rocks the House by Carrie Vaughn.  It is the 11th full book of the Kitty Norville series, due out next March 26th.

Random Updates…

I am done!  I finally, finally got the Series reading list section “done” – er, done-ish?  It is at least up to date, including all of the authors listed on the new release pages.  It took longer than I had thought, but I hope it comes in handy.  As always, let me know if anything needs work.

Also, I am doing up a section for Darynda Jones.  It should be up and running within the next couple of days, and I will be doing a character guide for the Charley Davidson series, as well.  I have the first book done, so I think I will just up what info I have and add the second book stuff when I get it done (hopefully before the third book is released at the end of the month).  Right now, I am on a Mercedes Thompson marathon – and loving it – but I will try and take a break to do Second Grave on the Left.

I have a ton of new releases to add to the lists, as well.  I mean a ton.  I will be doing that within the next couple of days, too.  Some of the titles I will be adding are…

  • Aimee Laine – Hide and Seek (March 1st)
  • Nina Bangs – Wicked Edge (March 6th)
  • Jamie Manning – Blood Born (April 24th)
  • Amanda Quick – Crystal Gardens (May 3rd)
  • Carrie Vaughn – Kitty Steals the Show (July 12th)
  • Laurie London – Seduced by Blood (July 24th)
  • Sophie Jordan – Hidden (September)
  • Meljean Brook – Rivited (September)
  • Seanan McGuire – Ashes of Honor (September 6th)
  • Becca Fitzpatrick – Finale (October)
  • Linda Howard/Linda Winstead Jones – Warrior Rising (October 30th)
  • Tahereh Mafi – Shatter Me #2 (November)
  • Kate Douglas – Dream Unchained (November 1st)
  • Jennifer L. Armentrout – Deity (November 6th)
  • Laura Resnick – Polterheist (November 6th)
  • Ally Conde – Matched #3 (November 13th)
  • Larissa Ione – Rogue Rider (December)
  • Jennifer L Armentrout – Opal (December)
  • Beth Reavis – Shades of Earth (January 2013)

Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

It seems I have been on a bit of a dry run lately in regards to finding new covers, but I finally scored a couple today.  Best part is, two of the three I absolutely loved, which is a total bonus.  First up is Shadow Rising, the third book in Kendra Leigh Castle‘s new Dark Dynasties series.  It is due out next summer.

Not bad, but at first I thought it was an e-book cover.  Then I got the next two, which really grabbed my attention.  On July 31st, Jamie Quaid will be releasing Boyfriend From Hell, her first novel.  And she got off to a great start with the cover art.

And finally, P.N. Elrod will be editing another collection of great authors for the book Hex Appeal.  Due out on June 5th, it includes stories from Jim Butcher, Ilona Andrews and Carrie Vaughn, among others.  I don’t remember seeing this cover around before, but it might just be new to me.  I still thought it was great, though.

Random Updates…

Soooo, every six months or so, I show just how dull my life is by going through the new release schedules, month by month, and plugging each and every author’s name into Amazon.com and Goodreads to see what they have coming out next.  Then, I check each author’s website and blog to see what is going on, too.  Then I update the “coming attractions” for each series.  I said life was dull, right?

Anyhow, I have made it through July 2011, and all of the reading lists for each title should be completely up to date, and all links added where available.  On my searches, I found some coming soon info on quite a few series…

  • Book 10 of The Hollows series from Kim Harrison will be called A Perfect Blood, and is scheduled for release on February 21st.
  • MaryJanice Davidson will be starting a Mermaid trilogy with the release of Underwater Love on February 7th.
  • January 3rd is the release date for the fourth book in Richelle Mead‘s Dark Swan series, called Shadow Heir.
  • according to Patricia Brigg‘s website, we will have to wait until the spring of 2013 for the next Mercy Thompson book, title as yet TBA.
  • Alien Diplomacy will be the title of the fifth Katherine Katt book from Gini Koch, and it should be available on April 3rd.
  • Devon Monk‘s 6th Allie Beckstrom book, Magic Without Mercy, will be an April 3rd release.

  • The Argeneau Rogue Hunter series from Lynsay Sands is still going strong.  Number 16, Under a Vampire Moon, is due out on January 3rd.  This one is a hardcover release.

  • The very busy Allyson James will continue her Stormwalker series in 2012 with the release of the fourth book, Nightwalker.  No official release date available as yet.

  • Summer 2012 is the general release date for the third book in Stephanie Julian‘s Forgotten Goddesses series.  Looks like Goddess in the Middle is literally that, since it lists three main characters.
  • Queen Betsy continues.  Number 11 in the MaryJanice Davidson series will be called Undead and Unstable, and should be out early next year.
  • There is a bit of a wait for the next Indigo Court book from Yasmine GalenornNight Seeker, book three, is scheduled for release next June.

NYT Bestsellers

Published on July 16th, 2010

Seems to be a lot of action on the charts for the whole paranormal genre this week.  Some, like Charlaine Harris and MaryJanice Davidson seem glued to it, but it is nice to see Christina Dodd placing with Chains of Ice, and Gena Showalter for her second week with The Darkest LieNalini Singh‘s latest Psy-Changeling book, Bonds of Justice, comes in at number 14, followed by Sherrilyn Kenyon‘s In Other Worlds at 15.

There isn’t much mystery on the hardcover side of things.  Urban Fantasy rules with Charlaine Harris on her tenth week with Dead In The Family.  She is joined by MaryJanice Davidson with Undead and Unfinished, and Laurell K. Hamilton with Bullet.

Random Updates

In checking the release dates on my summaries (tedious, but I still try and do the double-checks every month), it seems like there have been some changes to some favorites…

  • Dakota Banks‘ second book in her Mortal Path series, Sacrifice, has been pushed back from June to August 31st.
  • Kelly Armstrong‘s Waking the Witch will be coming a little sooner than originally thought.  It has moved from August 3rd to July 27th.
  • Discord’s Apple, from Carrie Vaughn, will be out in the first week of July instead of the end of the month.
  • Looks like Taken By Midnight, the next book in the Lara Adrian Breeds series, will be coming out a month later than first reported.  We will have to wait until September 28th now.
  • Christine Feehan has just started work on the next Ghostwalkers book, this one called Ruthless Game.  No other details as yet, but usually the Ghostwalkers are a late December release. (Chapter one of Dark Peril is up in her members section, for any who are interested).
  • The next Others book from Christine Warren, Prince Charming Doesn’t Live Here, has been given a release date of November 2nd.  I still have high hopes for the series, even though I wasn’t a big fan of the last two.
