Cover Lover – 6 New Titles

Goodreads gave up a couple more covers for this week’s post. This first one is from the new Darker Agency series from Jus Accardo that will be starting later this year with the release of Darker Days.

wild wolfI am looking forward to trying the new Entity series from Cat Devon that will be starting up in a few days, and this is the cover for the third title, Love Your Entity, which will be released on December 31st.

love your entityAnd finally, we have the December 31st release from Christine Warren. Heart of Stone doesn’t sound like it belongs to her The Others series, but details are a bit sketchy at this point.

heart of stoneAny of this batch catch your eye? I am looking forward to the Jennifer Ashley, and as much as I have been hit or miss with Christine Warren for the last half-dozen books, (and as bland as the cover is), I am hoping it is good.

Cover Lover – 9 New Titles

I have been a bit slack on the cover department lately, and I nabbed these first five from All Things Urban Fantasy‘s Cover Post.  The cover for Kady Cross‘s third Steampunk Chronicles book, The Girl with the Iron Touch, just came out.  The book will be available on May 21st.

This next one is the first book from the Hex Hall Spin-off series from Rachel HawkinsSchool Spirits will be released on May 14th.

Still from ATUF comes this third cover.  Star Cursed is the second book in the Cahill Witch Chronicles from Jessica Spotswood, and it will be released on June 18th.

Kendare Blake will be starting a new series next September with the release of the first book, Antigoddess.

Good Lord…holy crap-awful photoshopping!  This one is from Jaime Rush and her Offspring series, called The End of Darkness.  It is scheduled for release in January, according to Goodreads.  This is not the cover you want to wrap up your series with, that is for sure.

the end of darkness

This next one is from my favorite hit-or-miss author, Christine WarrenHungry Like a Wolf will be the last of her re-written Others books, bringing the series up to date.  Look for this one on June 25th.

This next one from Amanda Ashley reminds me of the old historical romances I used to read years ago.  As Twilight Falls will be released on May 7th.

as twilight falls

Rising Darkness is the tile of the first book in a new series from Thea Harrison.  It will be available on April 2nd.

And this final one is from Shannon K. Butcher‘s Sentinel Wars series.  Falling Blind will be released next April 2nd.

falling blind

My favorite from this batch is Falling Blind.  I was hoping that this would be Grace and…damn, can’t remember his name.  Tor?  Something like that.  Anyways, I was hoping that this was their story, but Shannon is good about building up a story over the course of a couple of books.  Which one are you most looking forward to?

Pick of the Week…

A couple of years back, Christine Warren was a big, big favorite of mine.  I tore through her Others series one after another until I caught up, and then I began the countdown for the next book.  Then the next.  And then something odd happened.  I excitedly started that next book…but didn’t like it.  If I hadn’t known better, I would have sworn someone else wrote it.  It fell flat, didn’t seem to fit the series, and didn’t interest me at all.  Oh, well, that happens.  But then it happened with the next book…and then the next one, and I got really discouraged.  Either she had lost her mojo, or I had, because a favorite series was becoming one that I just didn’t have any interest in reading.  So, imagine my surprise when I read the last book, On The Prowl, and loved it.  That one book gives me hope that the slump is a thing of the past, and leads me to my cautiously optimistic pick of the week, Drive Me Wild.

Synopsis…

In Manhattan, witches and werefolk have been giving each other the silent treatment for nearly 400 years, but now someone wants to renew diplomatic relations. When she’s picked for the job, Tess can’t believe it. She might be a witch, but she’s hardly a miracle worker. In the end, tracking down Rafael De Santos, the head of the Council of Others, turns out to be the easy part. The hard part is falling in love with him. And the really hard part is convincing this werecat to stop tomcatting around.

Luckily for Tess, some things are just meant to be.

Now, the Others series is one of the trickier ones to keep track of.  There was an original five book series, which then lead to The Others.  Then Christine went back and started re-writing the original five and alternated publishing new and re-written titles.  So, what that means is that the publishing order and the storyline order are very, very different.  To make things easier, I will copy the READING ORDER here…

Hungry Like a Wolf is due out on June 25th, and that will complete the re-publishing titles, and should mean that everything after that will be new material.

Cover Lover – 6 New Titles

Half way through the month already.  God, time is zipping along.  This first cover is from the second book from the new Cassie Alexander Nightshifted series.  Moonshifted is due out on November 27th.

Next up is Death’s Rival, the next Jane Yellowrock novel from Faith Hunter.  This one is due out on October 2nd.

Ann Aguirre recently upped the cover for her next Sirantha Jax novel, Endgame, which is an August 28th release.

The fourth book from Donna Grant‘s upcoming Dark Warrior series will be called Midnight’s Warrior.  This one will be out on November 27th.

I have to admit, my one time love for Christine Warren‘s The Others series has taken a beating the last few books, but I have been waiting to get my hands on Tess and Raphael’s story, and this is it.  November 27th is the release date for Drive Me Wild.

Last one this go round is from D.D. Barant and the Bloodhound Files.  Undead to the World will be out on November 27th.

This and That…

Not a lot going on, but a few new things have come up this past few days…

  • Looks like there is a push back for the first book of Gena Showalter‘s upcoming Otherworld Assassin series.  Last Kiss Goodnight was scheduled for November 27th, but it is now looking like a February 1st release.
  • The next book of the Chicagoland Vampire series from Chloe Neill will be called House Rules.  Look for it next February.
  • A Love Untamed is the title of the upcoming seventh Feral Warriors book from Pamela Palmer.  It will be out on December 26th.
  • There will be a novella from the Moon Shifter’s series by Katie Reus coming this August, called Lover’s Instinct.
  • Cassie Alexander‘s second Nightshifted book, Moonshifted, will be released late November.  It will be followed by Deadshifted next year.
  • And finally, some info is available about the next couple of Christine Warren The Others books.  November 27′s Drive Me Wild is a re-write of Fur For All, which featured Tess and Rafael.  April 3013 will see the release of Hungry Like a Wolf, which is a re-write of Fur Play.  This one is Logan and Honor’s story.

Cover Lover – 2 New Titles

There are still a couple that I am faithfully looking for (all new Lover Reborn, I hope) but I have to thank Lea for this one.  Virna DePaul released the cover for the third book in her Para Ops series, this one called Chosen by Sin.  This is Dex’s story, I believe, but there is no official release date as of yet.

The second one is from a former favorite series of mine that has lost steam the last few books.  Christine Warren returns to her world of The Others with the April 24th release of On The Prowl.  Even though I have not enjoyed the last four books or so, I still go into a new one with high hopes.  I do wonder if this one is Tess and Raphael’s story…

Book News…

After I made the book news post below, I found a few more.  Never fails, does it?

  • I haven’t found much info out yet whether it is a new offering or a redo of one of the Fixed series, but Christine Warren will have a new one coming out on April 24th called On The Prowl.
  • The next Queen Betsy book from MaryJanice Davidson, Undead and Unstable, will be released on June 5th.
  • June 5th will see a new release from the Anita Blake series from Laurell K. Hamilton.  It is the 21st book of the series, but no word on the title at this point.  The preorder link is HERE
  • Anya Bast will have a new book coming out on May 1st called Embraced of the Damned.  It is the first book of a new series, called Brotherhood of the Damned.
  • The third book in Rebecca Zanetti‘s Dark Protectors series will be called Hunted.  Look for it on April 24th.
  • There will be another Lords of the Satyr book released next April 24th.  Sevin is the seventh book in the series from Elizabeth Amber.
  • and finally, Lynn Kurland will have a new book called All For You coming out at the end of next April.

Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

While I am still faithfully (and impatiently) waiting for the covers for Archangel’s Blade and Dark Predator, I rounded up a couple of others.  First up it the eighth title from Joey W. Hill‘s Vampire Queen series, this one called Bound by the Vampire Queen.  It has a release date of December 6th.

The second cover is from Christine Warren.  Now, I used to love the early Others books.  Loved them.  I even had her own page in the featured author section.  But then something just seemed to change, and the books didn’t work much for me anymore.  The funny thing is, I still hope for a good one every time I see a new listing.  This one, Not Your Ordinary Faerie Tale, is no exception.  I guess I will find out when it is released on November 1st.

The last one is from Terry Spear and her Wolf series.  Dreaming of the Wolf is a December 1st release.  Terry is great at keeping her website updated and her readers informed.

Cover Lover – Black Magic Woman

After what I can only with great regret say has been a less than stellar last couple of books, Christine Warren will be back with her next The Others novel on April 26th, 2011.  I am not sure who Black Magic Woman is featuring, but from the cover and title I would say it sounds like a redo of Fur For All (Fixed #5).  This gets so confusing trying to organize chronologically earlier books from a previous series along with all new stories.

Random Updates

In checking the release dates on my summaries (tedious, but I still try and do the double-checks every month), it seems like there have been some changes to some favorites…

  • Dakota Banks‘ second book in her Mortal Path series, Sacrifice, has been pushed back from June to August 31st.
  • Kelly Armstrong‘s Waking the Witch will be coming a little sooner than originally thought.  It has moved from August 3rd to July 27th.
  • Discord’s Apple, from Carrie Vaughn, will be out in the first week of July instead of the end of the month.
  • Looks like Taken By Midnight, the next book in the Lara Adrian Breeds series, will be coming out a month later than first reported.  We will have to wait until September 28th now.
  • Christine Feehan has just started work on the next Ghostwalkers book, this one called Ruthless Game.  No other details as yet, but usually the Ghostwalkers are a late December release. (Chapter one of Dark Peril is up in her members section, for any who are interested).
  • The next Others book from Christine Warren, Prince Charming Doesn’t Live Here, has been given a release date of November 2nd.  I still have high hopes for the series, even though I wasn’t a big fan of the last two.
