This and That…

There has been a bit of info coming out on some upcoming releases lately, so I thought I would do a little post showing some of the tidbits going around…

  • For some reason, I had thought that Christina Henry‘s Black Wings series was wrapping up, but it looks like a new book will be out on October 28th. This one is called Black Spring.
  • Thanks to everyone who sent me the links to J.R. Ward‘s appearance in Cincinnati, where she shared some major spoilers. One of them was that the next BDB book will be called The Shadows, and it will feature both Trez and iAm.
  • Laura Resnick‘s next Esther Diamond book, Abracadaver, will be released on November 4th.
  • Also on November 4th is the second book from Chris Marie Green‘s new Jensen Murphy, Ghost for Hire series. This one is called Another One Bites the Dust.
  • Well, Kim Harrison‘s final Rachel Morgan book is coming soon. The Witch With No Name is due out on September 9th.
  • The long delayed Walker Papers book by C.E. Murphy, Shaman Rises, will finally be released on June 24th.
  • November 25th is the release date for the Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews, Lisa Shearin and Milla Vane (Meljean Brooks) novella, Night Shift. Nalini’s story is about Mercy’s brother Bastien, and Ilona’s is about Jim and Dali.

  • Aimee Carter‘s second YA Blackcoat Rebellion book, Captive, will be out on November 25th.
  • It doesn’t have a title yet, but the 16th Love at Stake book from Kerrelyn Sparks will hit the shelves on December 31st.
  • Fans of J.D. Tyler‘s Alpha Pack will be glad to know that book 6, called Wolf’s Fall, will be out on December 2nd.
  • December 2nd is also the release date for Darkness Falls from Keri Arthur. It is the final book in her Dark Angels series.
  • Universal Alien from Gini Koch will also be out on December 2nd.
  • Kate Elliott starts a new series next February called The Black Wolves Trilogy. The first book is called The Black Wolves.
  • Book one of Kelley Armstrong‘s new Age of Legends series just comes out this week, but it looks like the second book will be called Empire of Night. It is due out sometime next year.
  • I have been keeping an eye out for info about Anne Bishop‘s The Others, and I finally scored. It looks like book three will be called Vision in Silver…bad news is it is due out next year. Sometime.
  • Also coming sometime in 2015 is the 4th Alpha and Omega book from Patricia Briggs. It looks like this one will be called Dead Heat.
  • The third and final book from Alexandra Bracken‘s The Darkest Minds trilogy will be called In the Afterlight, and it is due out on September 16th. She will follow it up with a new YA time travel duology, with book one being called Passenger, and book two being called Wayfarer.
  • Way off next February is Chaos Choreography, the fifth book from Seanan McGuire‘s InCryptid series.
  • Kerstin Gier will have another of her series translated into English next year with the release of Silver: The First Book of Dreams. It is due out on January 6th.
  • And the UK version of Amazon has a new Christine Feehan listing. It shows the next (and very, very long awaited) Ghostwalker book, Viper Game, as a January 25th release. I am starting the countdown as we speak.

Anything interesting? Which ones are you most excited for?

Cover Lover – 9 New Titles

So, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of doing a recommendation section. It might take a while to work out, but it could be fun. I am going to get started on it maybe tonight, and then I will open it up for your favorites. I am thinking maybe a cover pic, a brief write up about what it is that makes the book great, and then a list of the rest of the books in the series. Or something like that.

On the cover front, there are a few new ones starting to make their way around. This first one is a Dark-Hunter short story collection from Sherrilyn Kenyon called Dark Bites. It is due out on January 21st.

dark bitesI had thought that the Shadowfae Chronicles series from Erica Hayes was complete, but it looks like there will be at least one more story. Demon Chained will be released in e-format on September 18th.

demon chainedAnd another series that seems to be getting a second life is the Gregori Legacy from Linda Poitevin. Sins of the Lost is due out on October 15th, also in e-format.

sins of the lostLabyrinth of Stars from Marjorie M. Liu was due out last year, but this latest Hunter Kiss book is now due out on February 25th.

labyrinth of starsJacquelyn Frank also writes under the name Jax, and it is under that name that she will re-release Hunter (previously an e-book release) on February 4th.

hunterI was starting wonder on the state of Shannon K. Butcher‘s Sentinel Wars series, since there hasn’t been much news for the last few months. But it looks like the next title will be Willing Sacrifice, and it will be released on March 4th. By the title, it really should be Torh and Grace. Hopefully.

willing sacrifice

There is another Argeneau Rogue Hunter book by Lynsay Sands coming out on February 28th, and it is called Vampire Most Wanted.

vampire most wantedAlmost there. I love the pinky-purple colors on Cole’s Redemption, which is the next book in J.D. Tyler‘s Alpha Pack series. It is due out on March 4th.

cole's redemptionAnd this final one is the cover for the mass market paperback release of the special edition of J.R. Ward‘s first Black Dagger Brotherhood book, Dark Lover. It is due out on February 25th.

dark loverWhat is your take on these? I like the Dark Lover cover – it would’ve been great if this had been the hardcover design. I am most excited for Willing Sacrifice, and even though I am a couple of books behind in this series it is one that I always enjoy.

Random Updates…

archangel's kissWow, hard to believe, but this is actually post number 1001.  Way back on August 11th, 2009 I started with a Cover Lover post that featured Nalini Singh‘s Archangel’s Kiss.  I think I checked every five minutes for the next few days to see if anyone had actually viewed it…such a nerd.  So, forward a few years, and things haven’t really changed.  Things have expanded a bit, and the look has changed a few times, but other than that things are pretty much still the same (and I am still a nerd).

On the site side of things, I have updated all of the Series Reading List pages, so all of the book lists are as up-to-date as I could get them.  I took the opportunity to finally work on the long neglected Completed Series List page, as well.  There are some that I think are finished that I didn’t add, since I couldn’t find official word that they were in fact over.  I will be keeping an eye on them, but if you see any that I missed feel free to give me a shout.  Also, WordPress decided to play with the way that the code for linking to a specific spot on a page was worded, which meant that all of those “Blah Blah reading list HERE” links no longer worked.  I do believe that I got that dealt with as well (each one had to be redone individually, so I hope I didn’t miss any).

On the Character Guide front, I added one a couple weeks back for Kresley Cole‘s Arcana Chronicles (speaking of which, it looks like book two, Endless Knight, will not be out until next October).  I also got Thea Harrison‘s Elder Races guide up to date and added the info for Lord’s Fall, and I am almost done the rough copy for the last two Darynda Jones Charley Davidson books.  That one should be FINALLY updated by the middle of this week.  That just leaves me Archangel’s Storm and a Mythos Academy book to get caught up.  Yay.

There are a few newbies to add to the New Release pages, as well…

  • It looks like Linda Poitevin will release another Grigori Legacy book in 2013, this one called Sins of the Righteous.
  • Also due next year is the third book in Adrian Phoenix‘s Hoodoo series, Black Moon Mojo.
  • The second book in Jamie Quaid‘s new Saturn’s Daughter series, Damn Him to Hell, will be released on June 25th.
  • There will be another Anna Strong book from Jeanne C. Stein coming out on August 27th.  Right now, the title is TBA.
  • Awaken the Damned is the title of the third League of Guardians book from Juliana Stone, and it will be released on June 25th.
  • Alpha Pack book number four from J.D. Tyler, Hunter’s Heart, will be released on September 3rd.
  • You will be able to get a new Kitty Norville book from Carrie Vaughn on July 30th.  This new one will be called Kitty in the Underworld.
  • Looks like there is also another Lupi book from Eileen Wilks in the works, as well.  Ritual Magic, Lupi #10, will be out next on August 6th.
  • Eternal Sin is the title of the 6th Mark of the Vampire book from Laura Wright.  Look for it next November.

Cover Lover – 14 New Titles

There are quite a few to show this time around, and many of them came from Goodreads.  Some came from authors blogs and websites, as well.  This first one is from J.D. Tyler‘s Alpha Pack series.  Black Moon is due out on December 4th.

Through the Ever Night is the second book from Veronica Rossi‘s Under the Never Sky series, and it is due out on January 8th.

This next one is from a new series starting at the end of this year by Coreene CallahanKnight Awakened is the first book of the Circle of Seven series.

The Program, from author Suzanne Young, is due out on April 30th of next year.  It is the first book of the series also called The Program.

I thought this one was pretty.  Rise is the second book from Andrea Cremer‘s Nightshade spin-off series, due out on January 8th.

I still have the last two of these to read.  I am so, so far behind.  Born of Fury is the next book in Sherrilyn Kenyon‘s The League series, due out next year.

Lilith Saintcrow (as Lili St. Crow) will release Nameless on April 4th of next year.  It is the first book of the Tales of Madness and Beauty series.  And I want that chick’s hair.

I didn’t even realize that there was a fourth book due out for Kimberly Derting‘s Bodyfinder series until I saw it posted on Goodreads.  This one is called Dead Silence, and it will be released on April 16th.

Yasmine Galenorn is really good about upping her new coverart early.  This one is the cover for her upcoming Otherworld novel, Haunted Moon.  Look for it on January 29th.

Kate Cross‘s second Clockwork Agents book, Touch of Steel, will be out on December 4th.

This next one…frightens me.  Badly.  A Touch Menacing is the third book of the Touch Mortal series from Leah Clifford, due out on March 5th.

Lauren Oliver‘s third and final Delirium book, Requiem, will be released on March 5th.

Almost done.  The first book of Claudia Gray‘s upcoming Spellcaster series, also called Spellcaster, will be released on March 5th.

And this last one is from Rebecca MaizelStolen Nights is the follow-up to Infinite Days, and it should be hitting the shelves on February 5th.

Which one is your favorite?  Mine is Andrea Cremer’s Rise, while A Touch Menacing is still scaring me.  Good lord, the eyes!

Cover Lover – 7 New Titles

I wasn’t expecting to find many covers on today’s hunt, so I was pleasantly surprised to come up with 7.  It seems to have been a bit of a dry spell lately, but hopefully there will be some new release info coming out soon, too.

The cover is out for the next book from Lexi George, Demon Hunting in the Deep South, which is due out on July 31st.

Werewolf in Seattle, the next Wild About You novel from Vicki Lewis Thompson, has a release date of April 3rd.

Tami Dane recently started a new series featuring profiler Sloan Skye.  Blood of Innocence is the second book, due out on June 5th.

And the last one is on the Young Adult side of things.  Julie Kagawa starts her new Blood of Eden series on April 24th with the release of The Immortal Rules.

New Series Alert

Seems like just yesterday when I did the last one of these, but once again it is time to look at the authors starting up new series this week.  First off is Rachel Caine.  This week sees the debut of her new Revivalist series with the release of Working Stiff.  Definitely something a little different with this one…

Synopsis…

Bryn Davis is new on the job as a funeral director, but even she knows that once you’re dead, you ought to stay that way. But Fairview Mortuary has a hidden backroom business: reviving the dead for profit, at extortionate rates.

Finding out may cost Bryn more than her life … it may just take away her death, too.

No info yet on following books.

Vampire Armageddon is the new one coming from Devyn Quinn.  Book one is called Darkness Descending, and boasts a beauty of a cover.

Synopsis…

The first seal has been broken, signaling the end of days. Fallen angels in the form of vampires are infecting humans one by one, creating an army fit for Armageddon. Of the few who survive the infection, one stands alone above all others…

For one year, Jesse Burke has been suppressing the beast within, driven by vengeance to destroy the vampiric fallen angels terrorizing New Orleans. But a war of biblical proportions is too much for one girl to handle, and she must turn to slayer Maddox deValois for training, though it threatens her fiercely-guarded independence. But the sinister demon Queen Amonate is doing everything in her power to lure Jesse to her side to fulfill her destiny as the mother of the devil’s child.

Before this war is over, everyone will learn that hell hath no fury like a woman possessed…

It will be followed by Darkness Awakening, release info TBA.

And this is one I have been looking very forward to.  Primal Law, from author J.D. Tyler, is the first book in the Alpha Pack series.  Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Synopsis…

Meet the Alpha Pack, a top-secret military team of wolf-shifters fighting the most dangerous predators in the world, both human and nonhuman.

After a massacre leaves Jaxon Law crippled, he must relearn how to fight-and battle the anger and guilt threatening to overwhelm him. But when Jax rescues a beautiful woman who awakens his primal instincts, he is unprepared for the dangers that lie ahead. Soon he must decide if the deep connection he feels with Kira is worth defying the ultimate shifter law…

Next up will be Savage Awakening, with a release date of April 3rd.

Random Updates…

  • Next April, Shiloh Walker will release her next Hunters book, this one called Veil of Destruction.
  • Jessica Andersen‘s Nightkeepers series is drawing to a close next year, and one of the last books is going to be called Magic Unchained.  It will also be an April release.

Cover Lover – 17 New Titles

It is that Christmas come early time for me again, since I scored quite a few new covers today.  I love finding a load of covers, and my inner book-nerd is in Heaven.  I also found Archangel’s Blade and Envy from J.R. Ward, but the watermarks made me feel too guilty to post them so I removed both.  Sorry about the length of the post, but I am too greedy to split them up…

The first book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series,  also from J.R. Ward, is heading into a special collector’s edition hardcover printing, due out this October 4th.  Hm, the version of Dark Lover looks pretty much the same as the original, but I am not complaining.

I am a big Christine Feehan fan, so I was very happy to find not one, but two upcoming covers from her Dark series.  The first one is my much anticipated (God, yes) cover for Dark Predator, again a September 6th release.  I am going to be torn between Dmitri and Zacarius and who to read first, I can just tell.

And the second cover from Christine Feehan is for the special re-release of two previous Dark titles into one trade paperback book, this one called Darkest at Dawn.  If I am not mistaken, the two are Dark Secret and Dark Hunger.  Look for it on November 1st.

Body Thief is the second book from C.J. Barry‘s Body series.  It is scheduled for release on November 1st.

Still going…Next up is the third book in Tessa Adam‘s Dragon’s Heat series (I just got the second one in the mail today).  Forbidden Embers is an October 4th release.

I have the previous books sitting on the TBR mountain, but looks like there is another one to add to the list.  Haunting Embrace is the next Mists of Ireland book from Erin Quinn, due out on October 4th.

I know there are a lot of Steampunk fans out there, and that Meljean Brook‘s Iron Seas series is a biggie.  This one is the cover for Heart of Steel, due out on November 1st.

Robin D. Owens is putting out a collection of four short stories set in her Celta’s Heartmates world.  Hearts and Swords is a December 6th release.

Halfways done.   Anyhow, next up is the second book in Cherie Priest‘s Cheshire Red Reports series.  Hellbent (I like these covers) is due out on August 30th.

The Order of the Sicari is a series from Monica Burns, and Inferno’s Kiss is the third book.  It is an October 4th release.

I am looking forward to this new series from J.D. Tyler (aka Jo Davis).  Primal Law is the first book in her Alpha Pack series, and should be available on August 2nd.

And for something a bit different, Slade is the next book up for Sarah McCarty in her Shadow Wranglers series.  It should be out on September 6th.

Actually, I haven’t heard anything about this one before, but author Jo Carlisle will have Temptation at Twilight out on November 1st.  It is a Lords of Pleasure book.

I do love me a good paranormal Christmas anthology, so Tied With a Bow is right up my alley (especially featuring a Lora Leigh Breeds story).  It will be available on November 1st.

Velvet Moon is the third book in Sophie Renwick‘s The Immortals of Annwyn series, due out in early December.

C.E. Murphy finishes up her Worldwalker Duology with Wayfinder, due out on September 6th.

And finally, MaryJanice Davidson will release Wolf at the Door on October 4th.  I am not sure if this is a stand alone title, or part of a larger series, but I will keep an eye out for more details.
