Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

Raiding Goodreads paid off again, and I have three new covers to show for it. I can actually say that I like all three of these, too, which is a rarity. This first one is from the prolific Amanda Ashley, and it appears to be from a new series called Children of the Night. Night’s Mistress is due out on August 6th.

Kris DeLake‘s next Assassin’s Guild book, A Spy to Die For, will be hitting the shelves on July 2nd.

And this final one is another in a long line of terrific covers for Jennifer Estep‘s Elemental Assassin series.  Heart of Venom will be available on August 27th.

Random Updates…

I have been updating the new release pages over the last week or so, and there were a few things that popped up worth noting…

  • Kate Daniels 6 now officially has a name, and any info on an upcoming Ilona Andrews‘ book is a good thing.  Magic Rises will be released next July.
  • It looks like the next Morganville Vampire book from Rachel Caine will be called Fall of Night, and it will be released in hardcover on May 7th.
  • Jean Johnson will be writing what appears to be a spin-off of her Sons of Destiny series.  This one is called Guardians of Destiny, and the first book is The Tower, which should be released on June 4th.
  • Kady Cross will release the third book of her Steampunk Chronicles series, The Girl With The Iron Touch, on June 1st.
  • Looks like the Zombies are back.  White Trash Zombie Apocalypse, the third book of Diana Rowland‘s White Trash Zombies series, will be released early next year.
  • Book number 22 (if I remember correctly) of Laurell K. Hamilton‘s Anita Blake series will be called Affliction.  Look for it in hardcover on June 4th.
  • The next Yasmine Galenorn Indigo Court book, Night Vision, will be coming out on July 2nd.
  • Book two of Kris DeLake‘s Assassin’s Guild series, Killer Rivals, will be released on July 1st.
  • Donna Grant will have at least four more titles in her Dark Warriors series.  Midnight’s Kiss will be out on June 4th, and Midnight’s Captive will be out June 25th, with two more to follow later in the year.
  • Alexandra Ivy‘s new series, called The Sentinels, will start off with a novella in the anthology Predatory.  It also features Nina Bangs, Dianne Duvall and Hannah Jayne, and it is due out on May 7th.
  • The third book of Jessica Shirvington‘s The Violet Eden Chronicles, Emblaze, will be out on March 1st.
  • Cold Copper is the title of the next Age of Steam novel from Devon Monk, and it will be on the shelves on July 2nd.

I finished my third read of the second Darynda Jones Charley Davidson book, Second Grave on the Left, and I will update the character guide for it by tomorrow night.  I had read both books two and three once for enjoyment, and then once for the guides.  Then I deleted all of the notes I had made, so this is actually round three.  I want to have them updated by the time Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet hits the shelves on October 30th.  Also, the Thea Harrison novella Hunter’s Season (I hate e-books) slipped by me, and that will be added to the Elder Races guide within the next couple of days, as well.  WordPress has been bitchy and not updating properly, so I had to take a bit of a break.  That will hopefully get back to normal tomorrow.

New Series Alert…

This is a big week for new series, both on the adult and young and young adult side of things.  Kris DeLake debuts her Assassin’s Guild series with the release of Assassins in Love.

Synopsis…

Two brilliant assassins in a fascinating futuristic world need each other to finish one more job before calling it quits in the highly respected killing business. But it’s more of a challenge than either expected.

A series of mishaps plagues their every move, and if it’s not Misha helping Rikki with a bungled getaway, then it’s Rikki helping Misha to hide some damning evidence. They can’t seem to get anything right… except for the way they feel about each other.

Next up is Geared for Pleasure from Rachel Grace.  It is the first book of the Elemental Steam series.

Synopsis…

Earthly Desires

Demeter “Dare” Senedal is the Queen’s Chalice-her protector and closest companion. So when the queen goes missing, Dare rushes to locate her, even though the search leads her straight into trouble.

A gentleman who trades in secrets and sin, Bodhan revels in carnal delights, but when a naked and bound woman appears on his shore, he finds his hunger to possess at odds with his need to protect. As Bodhan shares his knowledge of pleasure, Dare must decide if she can trust him, both with her mission and her heart.

Fiery Temptations

Seraphina always lands on her feet. After all, she is a Felidae- more feline than human-and an excellent thief. There has never been a job Phina wouldn’t take or a man who could tame her…until she meets Cyrus Arendal.

As the Queen’s Sword, Cyrus should have known better than to fall victim to a beautiful bandit. Now, to find and retrieve the moonfire dagger, he’ll need to convince Phina not to judge a man by his station, but by how completely he can satisfy her desires.

Also new this week is Discount Armageddon, the first book from Seanan McGuire‘s InCryptid series.

Synopsis…

Discount Armageddon introduces us to Verity Price, journeyman cryptozoologist, ballroom dancer, and former reality television star. She’s on assignment in Manhattan, researching the local cryptid community while she pursues her dance career.

It’s a cushy assignment…at least until local cryptids start disappearing, and all signs start pointing to a man from the Covenant of St. George. But is Dominic De Luca really to blame? And if she casts her suspicions in the wrong place, is she going to survive the experience?

Book two will be released in 2013.

The next one up is from Stephanie TylerDire Needs is the first book in the Eternal Wolf Clan series.

Synopsis…

Rifter leads the pack, embracing the lifestyle and ethics of an outlaw biker even as he battles an ancient enemy who has become a new, powerful force. But with his Brother Wolf raging inside him, howling to be unleashed, he needs to satisfy his hungers. And when he meets a drop-dead gorgeous blonde drinking alone in a bar that caters to both human and inhuman, Rifter’s primal instinct is to claim her.

Gwen has her own desires, long unfulfilled. She hopes a passionate night with the leather-clad, Harley-riding biker will ease her suffering. The seizures that have wracked her body her entire life are incurable—and they’re killing her.

But none of that will matter if Rifter can’t stop the growing threat to them all–trappers who are determined to enslave humankind and use the Dire wolves as part of their nefarious plan.

There will be at least two more books and one novella in the series, as well.

From the word of young adult, there are a few new one, as well.  Aimee Agresti‘s Illuminate is the first book in the Gilded Wings series.

Synopsis…

Haven Terra is a brainy, shy high school outcast. But everything begins to change when she turns sixteen. Along with her best friend Dante and their quiet and brilliant classmate Lance, she is awarded a prestigious internship in the big city— Chicago—and is sent to live and work at a swanky and stylish hotel under the watchful eyes of a group of gorgeous and shockingly young-looking strangers: powerful and alluring hotel owner Aurelia Brown; her second-in-command, the dashing Lucian Grove; and their stunning but aloof staff of glamazons called The Outfit.

As Haven begins falling for Lucian, she discovers that these beautiful people are not quite what they seem. With the help of a mysterious book, she uncovers a network of secret passageways from the hotel’s jazz-age past that leads her to the heart of the evil agenda of Aurelia and company: they’re in the business of buying souls. Will they succeed in wooing Haven to join them in their recruitment efforts, or will she be able to thwart this devilish set’s plans to take the souls of her classmates on prom night at the hotel?

Claudia Gray starts her Evernight spin-off series this week with the release of Balthazar.

Synopsis…

Haunted by memories from his first days as a vampire, Balthazar has spent hundreds of years alone—without allies, without love. When he emerges from his isolation to help Skye Tierney, a human girl who once attended Evernight Academy, Balthazar has no idea how dangerous it will be. Skye’s psychic powers have caught the attention of Redgrave, the cruel master vampire responsible for murdering Balthazar and his family four centuries ago.

Having learned of Skye’s powers and the remarkable effect her blood has on vampires, he plans to use her for his own evil purposes. As they stand together to fight the evil vampire, Balthazar realizes his lonely world could finally be changed by Skye…just as Redgrave realizes that he can destroy Balthazar once and for all by taking her for his own.

This is also the release date for the fourth Evernight book, Afterlife, in MMP.

I am looking forward to this one.  Embrace, the first book of The Violet Eden Chronicles from Jessica Shirvington, has gotten great reviews so far from what I have seen, but I think it is the pretty cover that caught my eye.  I am so easy.

Synopsis…

Violet Eden is dreading her seventeenth birthday dinner. After all, it’s hard to get too excited about the day that marks the anniversary of your mother’s death. The one bright spot is that Lincoln will be there. Sexy, mature and aloof, he is Violet’s idea of perfection. But why does he seem so reluctant to be anything more than a friend?

After he gives her the world’s most incredible kiss – and then abandons her on her front doorstep – Violet is determined to get some answers. But nothing could have prepared her for Lincoln’s explanation: he is Grigori – part angel and part human – and Violet is his eternal partner.

Without warning, Violet’s world is turned upside down. She never believed in God, let alone angels. But there’s no denying the strange changes in her body … and her feelings for Lincoln. Suddenly, she can’t stand to be around him. Luckily, Phoenix, an exiled angel, has come into her life. He’s intense and enigmatic, but at least he never lied to her.

As Violet gets caught up in an ancient battle between dark and light, she must choose her path. The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her eternity…

Cover Lover – 4 New Titles

Not all of these are of the best quality, but not horrid either.  I looked around and didn’t see any better, so here goes.  D.D. Barant continues the Bloodhound Files with the release of Back from the Undead next March 27th.  I believe it is the…fifth book in the series.  I like these covers…great art on all of them, and pretty colors.

The second cover is from the new Assassin’s Guild series from Kris DeLake (who also writes under Kristine Grayson, among many other names).  The first book is called Assassins in Love, and should be available on March 1st.

Temptation Rising is the title of the third book.  It is also from a new series, this time from author A.C. Arthur, called The Shadow Shifters.  This first book in the series is scheduled for release on March 27th.

Now, this last one is probably not new to anyone but me, but I thought it was pretty.  Sabrina Benulis will release her first book this December 27th, called Archon.  It is part of the Books of Raziel series.  I believe this is leaning towards YA, but I like the premise of Angels and Demons fighting over the heroine, Angela.
