Upcoming E-books

26 Nov

Ok.  I have bored all with my refusal to get into the whole e-book thing on a couple of different occasions.  I was feeling pretty smug about the whole thing, too, clinging to my beloved paper-and-ink books with the shiny covers.  And then sometime in the last couple of days I started to notice something that rocked the boat a bit – a few series that I follow faithfully are releasing new stories that will be available ONLY in e-format.  Huh.  That sucks.

Coming up on December 5th is A Taste of Midnight from Lara Adrian‘s Midnight Breeds series.

A shimmering holiday gala lights up an ancient castle in the Scottish Highlands, but beautiful widowed Breedmate Danika MacConn feels alone in the crowd. Even among the friends and festivity of the Darkhaven celebration, she can’t forget her lost love, a fallen warrior of the Order. Her brief return to her mate’s homeland has become treacherous after rejecting the advances of a dangerous Edinburgh crime boss with a taste for blood sport. As Danika seeks to expose the vampire and his dark trade, she discovers an unexpected ally in his forbidding, enigmatic henchman, Brannoc, a man who exudes heat, danger, and dark menace—and seems somehow achingly familiar. Bran has his own reasons for wanting to keep Dani out of his employer’s business . . . and his own secrets he means to keep buried. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a woman who tempts the wildest part of his Breed nature—especially when that woman is Danika MacConn, the one woman capable of bringing him to his knees.

Now, for this next one, you have to head over to Samhain Publishing.  It will be releasing an Elder Races story from Thea Harrison on December 13th, called True Colors.

Meeting your soulmate? Great. Preventing your possible murder? Even better.

Alice Clark, a Wyr and schoolteacher, has had two friends murdered in as many days, and she’s just found the body of a third. She arrives at the scene only minutes before Gideon Riehl, a wolf Wyr and current detective in the Wyr Division of Violent Crime—and, as Alice oh-so-inconveniently recognizes at first sight, her mate.

But the sudden connection Riehl and Alice feel is complicated when the murders are linked to a serial killer who last struck seven years ago, killing seven people in seven days. They have just one night before the killer strikes again. And every sign points to Alice as the next victim.

Shannon K. Butcher will be releasing an e-book from her Sentinal Wars series early next year called Bound By Vengeance.  There is a pretty nifty cover, but no other info available as yet.

Now, this next one confuses me.  Alyssa Day is supposed to be releasing a Warriors of Poseidon story in December – but there is no trace of a link as to where you can download Alejandro’s Sorceress.  And there is no info, cover blurb, nada.  Just a cover.   Strange.  And it is due out in a couple of weeks…

Now, that is not to say that I am against the e-books – I’m not.  Authors like Kresley Cole, Ilona Andrews and Jeaniene Frost are all going back and re-releasing their novellas in e-format, and I think it is great.  I would just like there to be a print option for us paper-lovers.  I don’t even mind buying an anthology just for one story – I do it all the time.   A while back, I read an interview with Christine Feehan somewhere where she talked about how print runs for romance books are down since people are buying more e-format stories, but that not printing books is forcing people to go in an electronic direction.  It seems like a catch 22, and still leaves me wondering if I just might have to take the plunge one day, after all…

Cover Lover – Dying Wish

1 Sep

Fresh from Shannon K. Butcher‘s newsletter is a bit of info about her next Sentinal Wars book.  Looks like this one will be Iain and Jackie.  Dying Wish is the title, and it is due out on March 6th.  This is one of those “under the radar” series that I really like, but never see much about.

New Author Pages

1 Aug

Sooo, I had a free afternoon today, so I decided to add a couple of more author pages that I have been thinking of doing for a while now.  The pages themselves aren’t that much of a bother, it is the darn little picture banners for each series that takes me forever.  I can never seem to find just the right image to use.  Anyhow, there are now sections for Shannon K. Butcher and her Sentinel Wars series, and Richelle Mead and her four different offerings.

Both can be found either in the drop down menu above, or under the Featured Authors/Series page link on the right column.  Or…

The Shannon K. Butcher section can be found HERE

and the Richelle Mead section can be found HERE

Pick of the Week

1 Aug

I really, really was tempted to choose Storm’s Heart for my pick of the week, but that one seems to be on everyone’s radar already.   So instead, I went with my second choice.  Blood Hunt is the fifth book of Shannon K. Butcher‘s Sentinel Wars series, and doesn’t get quite as much attention as a lot of other paranormal romance series.  The set up and world is a bit different, but I have been happy with all of the previously released books.   The cast of characters in this one is vast, with great potential for quite a few more stories.  And, no one is safe from meeting a violent end, which has surprised me more than once.

Synopsis…

Hope appeared out of nowhere, naked and alone, a woman without past. The only thing she knows is that she is imbued with a strange power. It’s in her blood. And two men want to possess it.

One is Logan, a Sanguinar demon-fighter who needs Hope’s essence to survive. As a vampire he’s well-equipped to find her a like-blooded mate whose progeny could sustain his race for generations. The other is Krag, a Synestryn lord whose desire is to enslave Hope, and drain her of the lifeforce. With it he could control humanity forever.

When Hope and Logan both fall prey to Krag, a powerful desire grows between them. But is it enough to thwart their captor’s diabolical plan and his demon warriors, and survive a vampire’s destiny written in blood?

Another book, Dying Wish, will follow next March.

Cover Lover – On The Hunt

17 Jul

Man, I thought this one was pretty.  Coming next February is the anthology On The Hunt, featuring Gena Showalter, Shannon K. Butcher, Jessica Andersen and Deidre Knight, and the cover has recently been released….

Gena Showalter’s synopsis…

In New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter’s Ever Night, Rose Pascal is swept into a dark, haunting world every year on her birthday, a world ruled by a warrior king who hunts her kind. But neither of them can deny the passion that soon consumes them both…

Pick of the Week

3 May

(May 2nd – May 8th, 2010)

A while back, I found the first book in Shannon K. Butcher‘s Sentinel Wars series, called Burning Alive.  I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did, and I liked the second one even more when it came out.  But the one I have been waiting for is this one, Running Scared.  The set up for this was way back in Burning Alive, and I can’t wait to finally get Zack and Lexi’s story.

Synopsis…

Lexi Johns has one purpose: to free her best friend from the hands of the Sentinels. And Zach, the Sentinel she has been running from for months, has one goal: to convince her that their destinies are entwined. For the magic that Zach has absorbed could destroy him if he doesn’t find the woman who can channel it for him. And he knows Lexi is the one.

From an early age, Lexi has been taught to fear the Sentinels. And now she is an agent of a group out to destroy them. So when Zach finds her, it is Lexi’s chance to strike at the heart of the Sentinels. But, as Lexi sees Zach’s courage, selflessness, and honor, she begins to doubt her beliefs — and is faced with an unbearable choice.

After this one, Living Nightmare is up on November 2nd.

Cover Lover – Living Nightmare

20 Mar

I am a big fan of Shannon K. Butcher‘s Sentinel Wars series.  Book one was good, but the second one was great, and I have high hopes for the third book, Running Scared (Zack and Lexi’s story).  The cover has come out for book four, Living Nightmare, coming out on November 2nd.  Not sure who this one is featuring, but this series really has a lot of potentially great stories.

I thought this one was pretty…and a bit different from the darker, more intense colors of the first three of the series.
