Happy Endings and New Beginnings…

Pheonix was kind enough to send me over her notes from the RT book convention about some PNR/UF series that are coming to a close soon, and that got me thinking about who is wrapping up one world, and starting on a new one. It is hard to let go of a favorite series, but when you have something new to look forward to it takes some of the sting out of it.

  • Kim Harrison‘s popular Hollows series is calling it quits with the release of the 13th book, The Witch With No Name, on September 9th. She went on to give a little bit of info on her new project, which will be about a slightly older female heroine, written from the third person point of view. “It’s a twist on what I usually write, and I’m so excited about it,” she added.
  • Larissa Ione is also wrapping up the Demonica/Lords of Deliverance series. She said “I didn’t want to keep adding new characters and I didn’t want to keep adding new sequel bait.” I haven’t seen anything listed after Revenant‘s book, so I wonder if that is the finale? Interestingly, she and Stephanie Tyler are returning to their Sydney Croft ACRO series with a couple of new novellas in the works.
  • P.C. Cast‘s House of Night series is finished this October with the release of Redeemed. No word yet on what is in store after that.
  • Not one but two series from Gena Showalter are wrapping up soon, with both The White Rabbit Chronicles and Otherworld Assassin stories finishing at a trilogy. And she is replacing them with two new series. She has a new four book YA series in the works, and a New Adult Contemporary trilogy + novella called The Original Heartbreakers. The novella will be called The One You Want, and the first full book called The Closer You Are will follow next March. It will be followed by The Hotter You Burn and then The Harder You Fall.
  • Apparently, the publisher has chosen not to go ahead with Cassie Alexander‘s Edie Spence series, so she has turned to a new series called Sleeping With Monsters. This one seems to be a bit more on the steamy side of things. Book one is called The Haunted, and it will be followed by The Hunted in August.
  • We have talked before about J.R. Ward finishing up her Fallen Angels books with the sixth title, Immortal, which is due out this October. Aaand I am still on the hunt for info about the rumored two new series heading our way. More to come on that one.
  • Chloe Neill still has at least three more full books and a novella in her Chicagoland Vampire series, but she is already looking ahead and planning a new series for 2015. No title is available as yet, but a bit of a teaser is out. “After humans overcome a shocking attack by supernaturals centered in the Crescent City—the Second Battle of New Orleans—supernaturals are forced into a walled community known as the District. It’s not good—or safe—to have magic, so Claire Connolly risks everything when she uses her secret magic to protect a friend. Claire quickly learns the world is more complicated than she ever knew . . . and allies are hard to come by.” Interesting…
  • Night Huntress has been done for a few months now, and the end is in sight for Night Prince, but we have Jeaniene Frost‘s New Adult Broken Destiny series to look forward to. The Beautiful Ashes heads our way at the end of August.
  • And Delilah S. Dawson ended her popular Blud series this past January, but has since turned her attention to more stand-alone (and varied) stories. Her YA paranormal Servants of the Storm comes out this August, and a very interesting book called Hit will come out next April. It is an alternate future/romantic suspense mash up where the United States was bought out by a Bank, and those in debt become the hunted. Or the hunters. Hm, like I said, interesting…
  • Oh, and on a positive note, both Kresley Cole and Nalini Singh have confirmed that their IAD and Psy/Changeling series have no end in sight. Nalini has said that the next book, featuring Aden, is the end of the second arc, but a new arc shall begin. Very, very good new indeed.

So, any you can add to the list? Anything new on the horizon from an old favorite?

Cover Lover – 12 New Titles

Well, looks like a few new covers to add to the pile. Some of these have been out for a while, but I just discovered them myself during my last updating thingy.

Starting with the adult titles, it looks like Elizabeth Hunter is starting a new series this month called The Irin Chronicles. The Scribe will be released on October 15th.

the scribeSteal the Day is a new one coming from Lexi Blake‘s Thieves series, which will be released on October 22nd.

steal the dayHm. My first reaction to this next one was “Pretty. But what the hell is he wearing?!? And…is that a squid tattoo?” Eternal Echoes is part of Anastasia Virgas‘s Sisters of the Divine series, and it was released on October 7th.

eternal echoesDemon Creed, the third book from Paula Altenburg‘s Demon Outlaws series, will be released next May 27th.

the demon creedI had pegged Stephanie Tyler‘s new Defiance series as adult, but I am starting to see it listed as the dreaded “New Adult” here and there. So, that means I have no clue. Either way, Redemption will be out on November 18th.

redemptionThese next few are all Young Adult. I thought the cover for Endless by Amanda Gray was pretty. It was released on October 8th.

endlessI have seen good reviews for Reboot by Amy Tintera, and now the cover for the second book has been revealed. Rebel will be out on May 6th.

Rebel JKT HC des3.inddErin Bowman‘s Stolen, which is a prequel novella from her Taken series, will be released in e-format on February 4th.

stolenThis one is the cover for one of the e-novellas from Cassandra Clare‘s The Bane Chronicles. The Fall of the Hotel Dumort will be released on October 15th.

the fall of the hotel dumortThe second book in Eve Silver‘s The Game series, called Push, will be released on June 10th.

pushBook three of Joelle Charbonneau‘s The Testing series, Graduation Day, will be released on June 3rd.

graduation dayAnd this final one is from Lisa McMann. Gasp is the third book in her Visions series, and it will be out on June 3rd, as well.

gaspWell, what do you think? Anything catch your eye? As usual, the YA covers out do the adult ones (probably explaining why I am buying more YA lately. Shiny covers).

This and That…

1346218864_cleanSooo, the Series Reading Lists section (HERE) has been updated, and I am almost finished adding the 100 or so new releases I found while working on it. After that, it will be a month-by-month check of Amazon to see what they have added to their pre-order lists, so over the next week or so the New Release Dates should be completely up to date.

Oh, and a quick question. Does anyone actually use the Completed Series list section (HERE)? I find it a bit of a pain, actually, since just when you think a series is done, a new novella or e-book is in the works. If it isn’t something people use, I will probably delete it.

While I was checking to see if there was any information about the new series coming from Ilona Andrews, I saw where Ilona and Gordon announced that next year’s Magic Breaks will be released in hardcover. They go into a bit of detail about the decision (which they are of mixed feelings about), but things were taken out of their hands. Personally, I am thrilled since I love me the hardcovers, but I do hope that there will be a re-release of the earlier titles in hardcover, as well. I wonder how long until Jeanine Frost makes the jump?

On the topic of hardcovers, the second Alpha and Omega book from Patricia Briggs, Hunting Ground, will be re-released on January 7th. That is the last one I needed to have everything switched over, so good news.

There have been quite a few titles added to the New Release Pages in the last few days (and more to come), so here is a few worth noting…

  • Stephanie Tyler will release a new e-book series starting this September. Book one will be called Redemption, and it will be out on the 16th.
  • Nalini Singh will release both of her new Psy/Changeling novella stories from the Wild Invitation compilation in e-format on November 5th. Declaration of Courtship is Cooper and Grace’s story, and Texture of Intimacy features Walker and Lara.
  • Angelfall author Susan Ee will release her second book from the Penryn and the End of Days series this November, and it will be called World After.
  • It looks like J.T. Geissinger‘s next book, Edge of Darkness, will be released on December 10th.
  • Jennifer L. Armentrout‘s new YA series with Harlequin teen called The Dark Elements, which features a half gargoyle/half demon heroine, should be good. The first full book will be called White Hot Kiss, and it is due out on December 31st.
  • Rachel Morgan #12, from author Kim Harrison, will be called The Undead Pool. Look for it on February 25th of next year.
  • Veronica Roth will release a collection of four short stories from her Divergent world called Four: A Divergent Story Collection, on February 11th.
  • There isn’t an official title as yet, but the next Argeneau Rogue Hunter book from Lynsay Sands will be hitting the shelves on March 25th.

So, that is about it. Anything to get excited about for you? I am most looking forward to Jennifer Armentrout’s new series with Harlequin Teen. She is an auto-buy for me, and I hope that this non-Entangled Publishing released series does well for her.

Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

Looks like this is just a quick, drive-by post for today since I only have three new covers to up.  On the plus side, I actually like all three covers, so that is a good thing.  This first one is from the Vamp City series from Pamela PalmerA Kiss of Blood is due out on June 25th.

a kiss of blood

This second one is from the always prolific Sherrilyn Kenyon.  I didn’t even know there was a fourth book in her Belador series coming out until I saw this cover over at Goodreads.  Rise of the Gryphon is due out on July 30th.

dire desires

That’s it for this post, but on a side note in Nalini Singh‘s newsletter she gave the heads up that info about the mysterious Psy/Changeling #12 will be revealed on January 31st – time to be determined.  Wow, I am looking forward to that one, for sure.

From the word of young adult, there are a few new one, as well.  Aimee Agresti‘s Illuminate is the first book in the Gilded Wings series.

Having learned of Skye’s powers and the remarkable effect her blood has on vampires, he plans to use her for his own evil purposes. This is also the release date for the fourth Evernight book, Afterlife, in MMP.

I am looking forward to this one.  Embrace, the first book of The Violet Eden Chronicles from Jessica Shirvington, has gotten great reviews so far from what I have seen, but I think it is the pretty cover that caught my eye.  I am so easy.

Synopsis…

Violet Eden is dreading her seventeenth birthday dinner. After all, it’s hard to get too excited about the day that marks the anniversary of your mother’s death. The one bright spot is that Lincoln will be there. Sexy, mature and aloof, he is Violet’s idea of perfection. But why does he seem so reluctant to be anything more than a friend?

After he gives her the world’s most incredible kiss – and then abandons her on her front doorstep – Violet is determined to get some answers. But nothing could have prepared her for Lincoln’s explanation: he is Grigori – part angel and part human – and Violet is his eternal partner.

Without warning, Violet’s world is turned upside down. She never believed in God, let alone angels. But there’s no denying the strange changes in her body … and her feelings for Lincoln. Suddenly, she can’t stand to be around him. Luckily, Phoenix, an exiled angel, has come into her life. He’s intense and enigmatic, but at least he never lied to her.

As Violet gets caught up in an ancient battle between dark and light, she must choose her path. The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her eternity…

Penguin e-Specials

This is me, sighing.  I am so behind the times.  Turns out that Penguin Publishing has something called e-Specials, and several popular paranormal series have entries in it.  I had no clue.  Not sure if everyone else is ahead of me (er, probably), but I decided to list a few that might appeal…

  • Katie MacAlister has a story called Unleashed, and it is part of her Dark Ones series.
  • Red Blooded is a Gods of Midnight e-novella from Deidre Knight.
  • Never actually heard much about these, but Sunny has a story called Mona Lisa Three, and it is part of her Monere series.
  • This one may also be available in a print version anthology, (if I am not completely nuts), but Magic Mourns from Ilona Andrews is also available in the e-special format.
  • From Virginia Kantra comes a Children of the Earth story, called Midsummer Night’s Magic.
  • Wild About You is a new series from Vicki Lewis Thompson, and it features a short called Werewolf in Greenwich Village.
  • I have been looking forward to the new Heather Killough-Walden Lost Angels series, and I believe Always, Angel is a prequel story.
  • Moon Dance is the name of the Mageverse novella from Angela Knight.
  • From the world of Deborah Cooke‘s Dragonfire series comes Harmonia’s Kiss.
  • Eternal Embers is set in the Dragon’s Heat world, written by Tessa Adams.

There were a couple that were unrelated to the Penguin published ones above…

  • Charley Davidson returns in the short For I Have Sinned, written by Darynda Jones.
  • Early Girl Gets the Blood Wolf is a story by Michele Bardsley, part of her Broken Heart series.
  • Alyssa Day will have a Warriors of Poseidon novella coming out in October called Alejandro’s Sorceress, but I can’t seem to find any info about it other than on her official site.
  • and the upcoming Eternal Wolf Clan trilogy from Stephanie Tyler will get a prequel in the form of Dire Warning.  Again, no links available as yet.

I am not quite sure how adding the e-books to the new release pages will go, since there are just so darn many of them, and the suckers are proving slippery to track down with any sort of finesse.  It is sort of hit and miss, actually, unless I just haven’t managed to perfect my technique as yet.  What I will be doing is adding the e-books to the reading lists for any of the series already featured here, like the ones listed above.  Might take a while to get them all added, but should be straight forward enough to find.  It is a start, anyways.

First Look…The Eternal Wolf Clan

Stephanie Tyler (one half of the Syndey Croft writing duo with Larissa Ione) is branching out and starting her own paranormal romance series, called The Eternal Wolf Clan.  The author’s description of the series sounds great…

The full moon is their mistress. They are predators of pleasure and pain. Feared by humans, envied by werewolves, the Dire Wolves are immortal shifters, obeying no laws but their own bestial natures. Once they were many, but now only six remain, a dangerous wolfpack forever on the hunt…

The first book, Dire Needs, will be a March 6th release…

Rifter leads the pack, embracing the lifestyle and ethics of an outlaw biker even as he battles an ancient enemy who has become a new, powerful force. But with his Brother Wolf raging inside him, howling to be unleashed, he needs to satisfy his hungers. And when he meets a drop-dead gorgeous blonde drinking alone in a bar that caters to both human and inhuman, Rifter’s primal instinct is to claim her.

Gwen has her own desires, long unfulfilled. She hopes a passionate night with the leather-clad, Harley-riding biker will ease her suffering. The seizures that have wracked her body her entire life are incurable—and they’re killing her.

But none of that will matter if Rifter can’t stop the growing threat to them all–trappers who are determined to enslave humankind and use the Dire wolves as part of their nefarious plan.

It will be followed by Dire Wants in the winter of 2012, and Dire Desires the following spring.

New Release Dates

Quite a few to share this time around…

  • J.D. Robb‘s next In Death book will be called Celebrity in Death.  It is the 34th title in the series, and should be available on February 1st.
  • On March 6th, Jessa Slade will release her 4th Marked Souls book with the release of Darkness Undone.  A bit of a name change for this one, stepping away from the “in Shadows” of the first three.
  • Stephanie Tyler will debut a new series with the release of Dire Needs on March 6th.  No word on the series name, as yet
  • The third book from the Dark Ink Chronicles from Elle Jasper now has a release date.  Eventide will be available on March 6th.
  • Now or Never is the title of the third book in Michele Bardsley‘s Wizards of Nevermore series.  This one is scheduled for release on March 6th.
  • Yay!  We will get the fourth book of Thea Harrison‘s new Elder Races series next March 6th.  The title is Oracle’s Moon.
  • Nina Bangs returns to her Castle of Dark Dreams series with the release of Wicked Edge, due out next March 6th.
  • I am looking forward to this one.  Nalini Singh‘s Guild Hunter compilation book, Angels’ Flight, is looking like a February 28th release.
  • On February 7th, the 11th book from Yasmine Galenorn‘s Sisters of the Moon series will be coming out.  That one is called Shaded Vision.
  • Hm.  Interesting.  Usually Joey W. Hill‘s books are all “Vampire”, but looks like her next one will be a bit different.  Something About Witches is due out on February 7th.
  • The fourth book from the Ascension series by Caris Roane will be called Born of Ashes.  This one should be available on January 3rd.
  • Adrian Phoenix‘s fifth Maker’s Song book will be called On Midnight Wings, and should be available on January 31st.
  • And finally, the fifth book from Jennifer Estep‘s Elemental Assassin series will be called By A Thread.  It is due out on January 31st.
