Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

These first two I grabbed from All Things Urban Fantasy, so thanks again.  The second book from Jocelynn Drake‘s new Asylum Tales series, Dead Man’s Deal, will be released on May 7th.

This final one is from Natalie J. DamschroderHeavy Metal is part of her Goddesses Rising series, and it is due out on July 30th.

Hm, I actually like all three covers.  The first one is funky, the second one is artsy and cool, and the third one is hot.  Not a bad set at all.

Random Updates…

Still doing the updating of the series reading list section (and also the finished series page), and I did come across a little bit more info for this post.  Did you know…

  • The Beautiful Creatures movie has just finished wrapping filming, but it looks like Kami Garcia will have another project coming to the big screen – one that hasn’t even been published yet.  Unbreakable, the first book in her upcoming The Legion series, is in development as we speak.  The book will be released sometime next year.
  • The third book of J.T. Geissinger‘s Night Prowler series, Rapture’s Edge, will be out on July 9th.
  • Donna Grant‘s Dark Warriors series will continue on through the end of 2013.  Midnight’s Temptation (book 7) will be out next November, and it will be followed by Midnight’s Promise (book 8) the following month.
  • There is good news for fans of the Hex Hall series from Rachel Hawkins.  There will be a spin off series called, well, the Hex-Hall Spin off series, starting up sometime next year.  The first book will be called School Spirits.
  • The third Sentinels of New Orleans book from Suzanne Johnson, Elysian Fields, will be released on August 13th.
  • August 8th will be the release date for the second Aether Chronicles book from Suzanne Lazear, Charmed Vengeance.
  • There has been a lot of buzz about Sarah J. MaasThrone of Glass, and it looks like the as-yet untitled second book will be released next September 12th.
  • Another one that seemed to be very well received was Falling to Ash by Karen Mahoney.  Well, the second book, Hunting the Dark, has been pushed back to a 2014 release.
  • Seanan McGuire will be writing one October Daye book a year through 2016.  The Chimes at Midnight will be out next September, The Winter Long will be released in 2014, A Red Rose Chain will follow in 2015, and Once Broken Faith will only be out in 2016.
  • I did my nerdy little squeal when I saw that the fourth Bloodlines novel from Richelle Mead will be called The Fiery Heart.  The only release info was that it would be out sometime next year.  Boo.

That’s it.  Back to the updating, which I hope to have done by the end of next week.  Hopefully.

New Series Alert

This is a quiet week in terms of new series starting up.  The only one I have on the radar is from Suzanne Johnson. Royal Street is the first book of her Sentinels of New Orleans series, which has been getting quite good early reviews.

Synopsis…

As the junior wizard sentinel for New Orleans, Drusilla Jaco’s job involves a lot more potion-mixing and pixie-retrieval than sniffing out supernatural bad guys like rogue vampires and lethal were-creatures. DJ’s boss and mentor, Gerald St. Simon, is the wizard tasked with protecting the city from anyone or anything that might slip over from the preternatural beyond.

Then Hurricane Katrina hammers New Orleans’ fragile levees, unleashing more than just dangerous flood waters.

While winds howled and Lake Pontchartrain surged, the borders between the modern city and the Otherworld crumbled. Now, the undead and the restless are roaming the Big Easy, and a serial killer with ties to voodoo is murdering soldiers sent to help the city recover.

To make it worse, Gerald St. Simon has gone missing, the wizards’ Elders have assigned a grenade-toting assassin as DJ’s new partner, and undead pirate Jean Lafitte wants to make her walk his plank. The search for Gerry and the killer turns personal when DJ learns the hard way that loyalty requires sacrifice, allies come from the unlikeliest places, and duty mixed with love creates one bitter gumbo.

The Sentinels of New Orleans reading list can be found HERE.

This and That…

I am going through all of the authors listed in the series reading list pages, and a few new details have come up (other than the fact that I have OCD issues).

  • and, writing under the name J. Lynn, Jennifer Armentrout‘s Unchained (the first book of the Nephilim Rising series), will be out on October 16th.
  • July 24th is the release date for the fourth book in Laura Anne Gilman‘s Paranormal Scene Investigations series, called Dragon Justice.

Cover Lover – 10 New Titles

As I must say lately, I raided All Things Urban Fantasy for most of these.  I must be off my game, ’cause I didn’t find much on my own this time around.  Shana Abe will be releasing her first young adult title, The Sweetest Dark, this August 21st.

Cynthia Garner follows up her recent Secret of the Wolf with The Heart of the Demon, the third book in her Warriors of the Rift series.  It is due out later this year.

The next Black Wings novel from Christina Henry, Black Lament, will be released on October 30th.

Gail Carriger will start her new Finishing School series later this year with the release of Etiquette and Espionage.  This one is a young adult release.  I like the look of this – much better than the Parasol Protectorate series ones, anyways.

The next one is from author Tessa GrattonThe Blood Keeper is the second book in her Blood Journals series, due out on August 28th.

There has been a bit of a design change for this one.  The second book from Elizabeth Miles‘ The Fury Trilogy, Envy, is going for a bit of a softer look than the first book.  This one is due out on September 4th.

I saw this one a while back, but completely forgot about it.  Lou Morgan‘s Blood and Feathers is a July 31st release.

Next up is one from Kim Harrison.  Apparently, Into the Woods is connected to her Rachel Morgan series, as I understand it it is a collection of short stories set in that world.  It will be available on October 9th.

This one is the follow up to Suzanne Johnson‘s Royal Street, called River Road.  This one is due out on November 13th.

And finally, this one is the cover for Two Weeks’ Notice, the second book in Rachel Caine‘s the Revivalist series, due out on August 7th.
