J.R. Ward on Sale…

saleIf you are like me, having a series in different formats is, simply put, annoying. Half paperback and half hardback throws off the system, so when the opportunity comes to “upgrade” I don’t hesitate. I now have all of the Mercy Thompson/Alpha and Omega books in hardcover, and I am working on the Dark-Hunter books as they come.

For those who are interested, The Book Outlet has some of the J.R. Ward hardcover re-releases on sale now. You can pick up Lover Unleashed, Lover Awakened, and Lover Revealed along with Lover Eternal and Lover Avenged HERE. They start at $6.99, which is a great price. Happy shopping!

*EDIT: You can also pick up the first three titles in Meljean Brook‘s Iron Seas series starting at $2.99 HERE.

As usual, I don’t know whether to thank you or beat you for your info. lol. Looks like I’m going shopping because that annoys the heck out of me, too. I guess I will thank you since they’re on sale, at least. Thank you!

Heh…I am good with either. Sale hunting is fun. And if it makes you feel better, I bought all of my hardcovers at full price…

Hahaha! If I hadn’t JUST bought paperbacks of all of them, it wouldn’t be so bad. But I had them on my tablet forever and decided it was time to update my actual bookshelves with my favorite series. I bought the entire series in paperback (except The King, of course, it’s hardcover) 2 weeks ago. So now I have brand new books that I’m already looking to replace. I did the same thing with psy/changeling and then ended up with a hardcover of Shield of Winter, too. Why do authors do this? It kills me! Stick to one format or the other for Pete’s sake. Although, if I was patient enough to wait for the paperback on new releases it wouldn’t be an issue either. lol. You’d think a digital copy would tide me over but I can’t stand to not have it on my shelf, too. My husband prefers the paperback because they’re smaller and it’s not as obvious that they’re all “girly romance crap.”

What do you do with the paperback ones when you replace? I was donating them (unread or in perfect shape, since I am neurotic), but the librarian was turning her nose up at them. Now I just give them to a fella that sells used books for free.

I am actually trying to wait for the paperback version on new YA books now, since the trend seems to be a change in cover design after the first book or two and that makes me crazy. I prefer the hardcover, but they just have to play around with the design and ruin things.

So far, I haven’t gotten rid of any of the books I’ve replaced. There’s not so many duplicates yet, that I don’t have closet space for them. I mean, what if my tablet, phone, and iPad break, something happens to the online backups and my SD card backups, and then the hardcover gets messed up? I could need that paperback copy one day. OMG, I’m a book hoarder! lol. I probably should find a good place to donate them. It’s sad to think that there’s people in the world with no access to Dark Hunter, Black Dagger Brotherhood, or psy/changeling books. lol. I have a few duplicates of some Christine Feehan books, too, but those were mostly replaced because they were very worn. I’ve been reading her books since before Kindle (or Kindle apps) existed.

YES! Thank you…been meaning to get ALL the BDB books in hardcover to go with the latest releases. I hate the half hard cover and have paperback thing I’ve got going on, especially with the Dark-Hunter series, which is a BIG series and still ongoing so it features prominently on my bookshelf. Good thing I was planning to go shopping this week anyway! šŸ˜€

You’re welcome…I am re-doing the Dark-Hunters, too, but I find the release pace is pretty slow. I do have hopes that the first few J.R. Ward Fallen Angels books will be re-released, too, and then I can get rid of all of the paperbacks. Here’s hoping.

The only ones I want hardback are the psy-changeling older ones. But I asked Nalini and was told that right now they don’t have plans to issue the earlier books in hardback; so sad….on another note why are librarian’s so snotty when it comes to romance. Like reading romance makes us inferior beings. I take my books …very few …to a used bookstore in my town. It’s a terrific place and they are not prejudiced.

    • Emily says:

There’s a lot of prejudice against romance novels, from just about everyone. I get so ticked off when my husband calls it “girl porn.” Yes, some have erotic scenes, but when it’s a good author, there’s a lot more to the story than just romance. One of the reasons that I love Ward and Kenyon is that I can almost always learn something from, or find a deeper meaning to, the story.

    • Janhavi says:

ooh, I would love a Psy Changeling hardcover re issue… they may not do it yet, but hey, maybe eventually!

  4. kaleigha says:

I think the librarian here is just a hag, personally. I got the snooty “how old are they? We don’t want old books.” Some of them were unread, some of them were duplicates of new releases that I for some reason ordered two of. I didn’t go back.

  5. Janhavi says:

This may not be the place- but Kaleigha, could we start a Shield of Winter discussion thread? it would be such fun!
