New Series Alerts…

There are four new series to start off this first week of the new year, starting off with Marked by Sarah Fine. It is the first book of the Servants of Fate series. By the cover, I thought it was a young adult release, but Goodreads lists it as an adult fantasy.

markedSynopsis…

In a broken landscape carved by environmental collapse, Boston paramedic Cacia Ferry risks life and limb on the front lines of a fragile and dangerous city. What most don’t know including her sexy new partner, Eli Margolis is that while Cacy works to save lives, she has another job ferrying the dead to the Afterlife. Once humans are Marked by Fate, the powerful Ferrys are called to escort the vulnerable souls to either eternal bliss or unending fire and pain.

Unaware of Cacy’s other life, Eli finds himself as mesmerized by his fierce and beautiful partner as he is mistrustful of the influential Ferry clan led by the Charon who happens to be Cacy’s father. Cacy, in turn, can no longer deny her intense attraction to the mysterious ex-Ranger with a haunted past. But just as their relationship heats up, an apparent hit takes the Charon before his time. Shaken to the core, Cacy pursues the rogue element who has seized the reins of fate, only to discover that Eli has a devastating secret of his own. Not knowing whom to trust, what will Cacy have to sacrifice to protect Eli and to make sure humanity’s future is secure?

This second newbie comes from Amber Benson of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame. Her new series is called The Witches of Echo Park, and the first book is called the same.

the witches of echo parkSynopsis…

Unbeknownst to most of humankind, a powerful network of witches thrives within the shadows of society, using their magic to keep the world in balance. But they are being eliminated—and we will all pay if their power falls…

When Elyse MacAllister’s great-aunt Eleanora, the woman who raised her, becomes deathly ill, Lyse puts her comfortable life in Georgia on hold to rush back to Los Angeles. And once she returns to Echo Park, Lyse discovers her great-aunt has been keeping secrets—extraordinary secrets—from her.

Not only is Lyse heir to Eleanora’s Victorian estate; she is also expected to take her great-aunt’s place in the Echo Park coven of witches. But to accept her destiny means to place herself in deadly peril—for the world of magic is under siege, and the battle the witches now fight may be their last…

All of the early reviews I have seen so far for this next one have been very positive. Paige Tyler‘s Hungry Like the Wolf is the first book in her new SWAT series.

hungry like the wolfSynopsis…

Gage Dixon’s elite Dallas SWAT team is a pack of wolves—literally. The close-knit, heavily armed, and uber-alpha pack take down threats and protect their city.

Investigative journalist Mackenzie Stone knows something’s up with the hunky darlings of Dallas, so she gets assigned to shadow the team for a story. Gage hates PR almost as much as he hates losing his mark, but the real danger is in losing his heart…

Are you trying any of these new ones out? I wasn’t planning on it, but I am toying with picking up Paige Tyler’s new one. I am trying to cut back on the TBR, but sometimes you just have to break down and splurge a bit.

I’m already waiting to get my copy of hungry Like the Wolf when I turn on my Kindle in the morning…now there’s 3 more??? It’s a good thing Barnes & Noble’s Educator discount saving days is coming up this weekend…

Glad you posted the info about Marked. That had popped up on my kindle as a suggestion, but I ignored it because I thought it was young adult based on the cover design. I will give it another look. Thanks!

I know, right? It really has a young adult vibe by the cover. I kept double checking to make sure, but no one lists it as young adult at all.

Heh…I can be such a spaz sometimes. After my “book un-haul”, I was feeling pretty good about Mount TBR. I totally thought that it was going to be a completely reasonable number. Right. I STILL have well over 200 on it – and 5 more came today. Under control? Suuuure.

Sounds like my TBR pile — except it’s on this shelf, that shelf, my kindle, my Kobo (huh, almost forgot I still had that — haven’t bought anything for it since Borders closed!) … I know my “misc unread” collection on the Kindle has over 350… I don’t know whether to thank or curse those free Kindle books… How big would a pile like that get?
