Things have been a bit quiet this week, so I thought I might do a cover lover post. I am going to start with one I am way too old for, but am looking forward to anyways. The Sword of Summer is the first book of the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series by Rick Riordan, and it is due out on October 6th.
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.
One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met-a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.
The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.
When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.
Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .
Cover number 2 is from Asa Maria Bradley. Viking Warrior Rising is the first book of the Viking Warriors series, and it is due out on November 3rd.
Leif Skarsganger and his elite band of immortal warriors have been charged to protect humanity from the evil Norse god Loki.
Under attack from Loki’s minions, Leif is shocked to encounter a dark-haired beauty who fights like a warrior herself. Wounded and feverish, the Viking kisses her, inadvertently triggering an ancient Norse bond. But when Naya Brisbane breaks away and disappears before the bond is completed, Leif’s warrior spirit goes berserk. If Leif doesn’t find her fast, he’s going to lose himself to permanent battle fury.
But Naya doesn’t want to be found…and he’ll do anything to find her. Because they’re both running out of time.
This next one is from Elizabeth Hunter. The Scarlet Deep is from her Elemental World series, and it is due out on July 7th.
Patrick Murphy, the immortal leader of Dublin, has been trying to stem the tide of Elixir washing into his territory, but nothing seems to stop the vampire drug. While others in the immortal world work to cure the creeping insanity that Elixir threatens, Murphy has been invited to London to join a summit of leaders hoping to discover who is shipping the drug. If Murphy and his allies can cut off the supply, they might be able to halt the spread long enough for a treatment to be found for the humans and vampires infected.
Anne O’Dea, Murphy’s former lover, retreated from public life over one hundred years ago to help immortals in need… and to heal her own broken heart. Though powerful connections keep her insulated from the violence of vampire politics, even Anne is starting to feel the effects of Elixir on her isolated world. The human blood supply has been tainted, and with Anne’s unique needs, even those closest to her might be in danger. Not just from infection, but Anne’s escalating bloodlust.
When Anne and Murphy are both called to London, they’re forced to confront a connection as immortal as they are. As they search for a traitor among allies, they must also come to terms with their past. Behind the safe facade of politics, old hungers still burn, even as an ancient power threatens the fate of the Elemental World.
Sara Humphreys‘ The Good, the Bad and the Vampire is the fourth book in the Dead in the City series, and it has a release date of January 5th.
Trixie LaRoux is a pink-haired, punk rock, badass vampire with mad bartending skills. Everyone in the coven think she’s as tough as nails, but only her maker knows the truth; underneath the sultry eye makeup and neon hair is a woman haunted by a past full of troubled relationships.
Dakota Shelton is a vampire with deadly, dangerous skills. But with a penchant for Johnny Cash, he’s a good ol’ Southern boy at heart. Thrown together by mutual friends in New York City, Trixie has no idea what to do with Dakota’s old-fashioned chivalry. But after her tumultuous dating history, Trixie just may be ready for the one man she never expected…
And this last one is Let the Wind Rise from Shannon Messenger. It is the third book of the Sky Fall series, and it is due out next April.
