Pick of the Week…

I was planning on making the new Alexandra Ivy book my pick of the week, because spin-off + dragons is a win, but I was annoyed by the whole lack of print copies outside the U.S. So, that means that I am making my pick of the week the other book I was looking forward to, and that is Heat of the Moment by Lori Handeland. I read the first book a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised, so I am glad that there isn’t a big wait for this second release.

heat of the momentSynopsis…

A spell that tore three sisters apart is broken four hundred years later, when the magic in their blood reunites them. Now, one of them will discover her gift—and reignite a love long thought lost…

Flame-haired Becca Carstairs was born to be a veterinarian. Since childhood, her affinity for animals has been special, and her healing touch nothing short of magic. But only Becca knows the truth—that she alone can hear the creatures’ voices. She’s always trusted her sixth sense…until a string of missing pets, an attempted murder, and a face from her past converge into one explosive mystery, with her at its center. Is haunted Owen McAllister, the boy who broke her heart ten years ago, related to the sinister crimes that have peaceful Three Harbors, Wisconsin, on its guard? Or is his reappearance part of the answer to questions that have troubled her all her life? As Becca delves into her strange heritage, she’ll have to fight for her life…and the man she will always love.

It was actually my first Handeland book, and I was happy with it. Have you read any of her stuff? What do you think of it?

I have read all three and the trilogy as a whole is exceptional, all of the individual books have minor weaknesses but the things as a whole was amazing, this is my review for book #2, while it follows a similar path as book 1 trust me that book #3 does not BUT it will have so much story left to tell that it become less of a romance than books 1 & 2 and becomes a lot more urban fantasy. (I LOVE her “creature” books and you get a cameo from a couple of them along the way here ) 🙂

I am going to try the two left in this series, and if I still have the love I will then go back and tackle the other series. Here’s hoping.

Thanks Kaleigha! I will check out Lori Handeland’s new series. I read some of her shifter books years ago and liked them. Have not tried the new witch series.

She is one I have seen around for ever but not heard much about. Always glad to find a new one with a big back catalog to dive into.
