Wow, there hasn’t been much going on for the last few days. Well, there were a couple of announcements to ponder, but that is about it. Kresley Cole has announced that the tv and motion picture rights for her Arcana Chronicles series has been optioned by a major studio. Now, that doesn’t mean that we will necessarily get a movie or show out of it (still waiting for Sherrilyn Kenyon‘s adaptations to appear), but it is at least a good sign.
Oh, and Darynda Jones has also announced a new project she has been working on. Brighter Than the Sun will be an e-novella released on October 6th, and it will be a Reyes-centric story about the first time he and Charley met. Sounds interesting.
Ok, on to the covers. It looks like Rachel Caine is revisiting her Morganville Vampires world with a novella collection called Midnight Bites. It is due out on March 1st.
In a town where it’s not safe to be out after dark, student Claire Danvers and her friends have had their fair share of thrills. But Morganville still has a few secrets left to tell.
Now, in this collection, you can venture down the town’s strange streets, revisit all the tales you’ve come to love, and experience six new stories featuring your favorite Morganville residents—both human and vampire…
Next up is Vendetta, the next Deadly Curiosities book from Gail Z. Martin. It has a release date of December 29th.
An old enemy of Sorren’s is back in town. Sariel is a nephilmancer, a powerful sorcerer able to summon the nephilim, tainted eternal spirits that watch humanity and stand in judgment. Sariel is looking for vengeance, because a century ago, during their last battle, Sorren killed Sariel’s son and helped the Alliance send Sariel into harsh exile. Because of Sorren’s long affiliation with Charleston, Sariel has decided that the city must be destroyed, and in retaliation for his own loss, Sariel vows to destroy the mortal helpers Sorren protects. To do this, Sariel must bring five of the Watchers through a portal from another realm. When all five are present, judgment will fall, and the nephilim will reap and feed on the souls of the dead.
Number three is from Heather Graham. The Hidden is the 17th Crewe of Hunters book, and it is due out on September 29th.
Estes Park, Colorado, is a place of serenity. But it wasn’t always so serene. Shortly after the Civil War, Nathan Kendall and his wife were murdered there, leaving behind a young son. The crime was never solved.
Now…historian Scarlet Barlow is working at a small museum attached to a B and B, the same building where that murder occurred. She recently came to Colorado, reeling after her divorce from FBI agent Diego McCullough. Diego—who’s just been asked to join the Krewe of Hunters, a unit dealing with “unusual” situations…
When Scarlet unwittingly takes pictures of people who’ve been murdered—just like the Kendalls a hundred and fifty years before—the police look at her with suspicion. Then the museum’s statues of historic people, including Nathan Kendall, begin to talk to her, and she knows it’s time to call her ex-husband. Diego heads to Estes Park, determined to solve the bizarre case that threatens Scarlet’s life—and to reunite with the woman he never stopped loving.
Lisa Shearin‘s The Brimstone Deception, which is part of her SPI Files series, will be released on January 26th.
The agents of Supernatural Protection & Investigations (SPI) know that fighting evil is a full-time job, especially when a new designer drug—with mind-blowing side effects—hits the streets…
It’s called Brimstone. And after the first few hits, you’ll see every supernatural beast sharing the sidewalk, train, or office with you. After that, you’ll start seeing the really scary stuff.
I’m Makenna Fraser, seer for the SPI. And the collateral damage caused by Brimstone is something I’d like to unsee: dead drug dealers missing their hearts—and souls. Because your local pusher doesn’t stand a chance against the new cartel muscling its way into New York. And since the drug can only be produced with magic and molten brimstone fresh from Hell, that means a rift to the underworld is open somewhere in the city.
And when—not if—the cartel loses control of it, well…
It’s going to be Hell on earth.
And the final one for today is from Katie MacAlister. Dragon Soul is the third book in her Black Dragons series, and it will be out on January 26th.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katie MacAlister continues her riotously funny and super steamy paranormal series with Dragon Soul. A foe to all of dragonkind, an alchemist known as the Dragon Breaker is about to undergo the transformation of a lifetime. But his love for a beautiful woman may change him even more…
So, that wraps things up for today. What is your take on the Arcana Chronicles news? I think that it has the potential to be different than a lot of the other YA adaptations that have recently headed our way, but I am still hating the damn love triangles. Seriously, I haven’t even read the last book yet because of the Aric/Evie/Jack loooove thing. Ugh. Triangles must die.
