Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

You know you read too much at night if you sleep in and are almost late for work. Um, and your shift starts at 4:00 PM. Not good, and really, really hard to explain.

Anyways, looks like it is just a little cover lover post for today. Let’s start with the next one from Jennifer Ashley. White Tiger is part of her Shifters Unbound series, and it will be released on April 5th.

white tigerWanted and on the run…

For twenty years, Kendrick, a white tiger Shifter, has been the Guardian of un-Collared Shifters who spend their lives living in secret—and in fear of being shunted into Shiftertowns. When Kendrick’s group is discovered and forced to flee, Kendrick is more desperate than ever to protect them
His only salvation was in a beautiful stranger.

In a diner in the middle of nowhere, lonely waitress Addison Price has seen a lot of unusual drifters come and go, but none has ever captivated—and intimidated—her like the imposing fugitive who wields a broadsword with incredible skill. But when he risks all to protect her, Addison’s fear turns to empathy—and empathy to desire as she learns more about her savior. Soon she’s more than willing to help the crushingly sensual white tiger and his cubs in a passionate bid for freedom. Whatever the cost.

This next one is from Faith Hunter and her Jane Yellowrock series. Shadow Rites is Jane #10, and it too is due out on April 5th.

shadow ritesSlaying vampires is child’s play for skinwalker Jane Yellowrock. But handling the complicated politics of New Orleans’ supernatural players is another story…

Jane is keeping the peace between visiting groups of witches and vamps in the city, but then trouble comes knocking on her doorstep. When her house is magically attacked, the wild chase to find her assailants unearths a mystery that has literally been buried deep.

A missing master vampire, presumed long deceased, is found chained in a pit…undead, raving mad, and in the company of two human bodies. Now it’s up to Jane to find out who kept the vampire hidden for so long and why, because the incident could tip already high supernatural tensions to an all-out arcane war.

And this last one is actually a redo. Karen Marie Moning‘s Burned is getting a re-design for its paperback release on November 24th. And since I thought the hardcover design for Burned was a total letdown, this does not disappoint me.

burnedIt’s easy to walk away from lies. Power is another thing.
MacKayla Lane would do anything to save the home she loves. A gifted sidhe-seer, she’s already fought and defeated the deadly Sinsar Dubh—an ancient book of terrible evil—yet its hold on her has never been stronger.

When the wall that protected humans from the seductive, insatiable Fae was destroyed on Halloween, long-imprisoned immortals ravaged the planet. Now Dublin is a war zone with factions battling for control. As the city heats up and the ice left by the Hoar Frost King melts, tempers flare, passions run red-hot, and dangerous lines get crossed. Seelie and Unseelie vie for power against nine ancient immortals who have governed Dublin for millennia; a rival band of sidhe-seers invades the city, determined to claim it for their own; Mac’s former protégé and best friend, Dani “Mega” O’Malley, is now her fierce enemy; and even more urgent, Highland druid Christian MacKeltar has been captured by the Crimson Hag and is being driven deeper into Unseelie madness with each passing day. The only one Mac can depend on is the powerful, dangerous immortal Jericho Barrons, but even their fiery bond is tested by betrayal.
It’s a world where staying alive is a constant struggle, the line between good and evil is blurred, and every alliance comes at a price. In an epic battle against dark forces, Mac must decide who she can trust, and what her survival is ultimately worth.

Just as a reminder, here is the original Burned cover…

burnedMeh. Didn’t match the story. Didn’t match the rest of the covers in the series. Didn’t stand out at all, and totally messed up a string of well done covers for the Fever series. Not amused.

Hi! I have never read the Fever series… but hear good things…. worth investing the time to have a go at them? Is it akin to any other series?

    • kaleigha says:

Hey Debs…the Fever series seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it thing. I loved it, but I marathoned them so I wasn’t forced to suffer the cliff-hanger endings with a year to wait for the next story. I can’t really think of any other series that it is like, but it is one I think is worth giving a try.

      • Debs Malcolm says:

Thanks! I’m going to give them a go…. will borrow from library to start with so no investment other than time! I’ve been forbidden from increasing my TBR pile by buying more books 🙂

        • kaleigha says:

That’s the smart way to go…if you are like me, once one book lands on the TBR pile, the rest of the series always follows.

    • kaleigha says:

I actually like pretty much all of the Shifters Unbound series covers…way, way better than the Lora Leigh animal/dude mash-ups.

  2. Pals20 says:

Oh lord, welcome to my world.. As a matter of fact, I did go late to work yesterday – almost 2 hours late – thanks to a certain husband-wife team’s new book…

    • kaleigha says:

Totally understandable and completely justified. Between her and Nalini, I am amazed I don’t have a couple of “sick days” a year.

  3. cheryl says:

I can’t wait for the new Faith Hunter book… this series is so good and the last book made me anxious for the next one. So White Tiger and Shadow Rites are on my must have list.
I know it is strange but haven’t read Ilona Andrews new one yet… waiting for library copy and then buy it at lower price later.

    • kaleigha says:

I haven’t read it yet, either…I was supposed to go away and get it on release day, but I had to push that back to this week because of work. And, I have totally managed to avoid spoilers and the like, so it is not making me too insane. Three days to go!
