Cover Lover – 7 New Titles

I didn’t think I had this many covers built up to post – a nice surprise. Let’s start with one from Larissa Ione‘s Demonica series. She will release another novella through the 101 Dark Nights series, this one called Z. Look for it next April 26th.

zZhubaal, fallen angel assistant to the Grim Reaper, has spent decades searching for the angel he loved and lost nearly a century ago. Not even her death can keep him from trying to find her, not when he knows she’s been given a second chance at life in a new body. But as time passes, he’s losing hope, and he wonders how much longer he can hold to the oath he swore to her so long ago…

As an emim, the wingless offspring of two fallen angels, Vex has always felt like a second-class citizen. But if she manages to secure a deal with the Grim Reaper — by any means necessary — she will have earned her place in the world. The only obstacle in the way of her plan is a sexy hardass called Z, who seems determined to thwart her at every turn. Soon it becomes clear that they have a powerful connection rooted in the past…but can any vow stand the test of time?

Up next is the second book in the new Dragons of Eternity series from Alexandra Ivy. Scorched by Darkness will be released early next year.

scorched by darknessTo be honest, I haven’t heard much about this next one. Thinning the Herd from Adrian Phoenix is an e-format release due out on January 4th.

thinning the herdFrom the New York Times bestselling author of A Rush of Wings and The Maker’s Song series, a humorous, action-packed urban fantasy about a werewolf pack and an animal control officer in way over his head!

Someone is picking off fortune tellers and hippies in Oregon, snatching them out of their Birkenstocks mid-stride. And when the legend himself, Hal Rupert, Animal Control Officer, gets a whiff of the mystery, he knows he’s the man to solve it. In between proudly wrangling out-of-control cats and dogs, he’s noticed a peculiar uptick in another sort of animal…werewolves.

Hal infiltrates the country fair to investigate the disappearance of the flower children. But his real priority is protecting the love of his life, Desdemona Cohen, whose long purple tresses and black-glossed lips captured his heart the moment he first saw her standing behind the register at Hot Topic. Desdemona may have nicknamed Hal “Creep,” but he’s determined to win her heart. And, you know, save everyone else, too.

Alien in Chief is the 13th book in the Katherine “Kitty” Katt series from Gini Koch, and it is due out on December 1st.

alien in chiefThese last three are all young adult. Ann Aguirre‘s Infinite Risk, which is the third and final book of the Immortal Game trilogy, has a release date of August 2nd.

infinite riskI expected something darker and more edgy for this next one, maybe something black. Or with diamonds. Seven Black Diamonds is from what I understand a stand-alone release from Melissa Marr, and it will be out on March 1st.

seven black diamondsThis riveting fantasy marks Melissa Marr’s return to the world of faery courts that made her Wicked Lovely series an international phenomenon.

Lilywhite Abernathy is a criminal—she’s half human, half fae, and since the time before she was born, a war has been raging between humans and faeries. The Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of the fae courts, wants to avenge the tragic death of her heir due to the actions of reckless humans.

Lily’s father has always shielded her, but when she’s sent to the prestigious St. Columba’s school, she’s delivered straight into the arms of a fae sleeper cell—the Black Diamonds. The Diamonds are planted in the human world as the sons and daughters of the most influential families and tasked with destroying it from within. Against her will, Lilywhite’s been chosen to join them…and even the romantic attention of the fae rock singer Creed Morrison isn’t enough to keep Lily from wanting to run back to the familiar world she knows.

And this final one is from Rachel Caine and her Great Library series. Paper and Fire is due out on July 5th.

paper and fireWith an iron fist, The Great Library controls the knowledge of the world, ruthlessly stamping out all rebellion, forbidding the personal ownership of books in the name of the greater good.

Jess Brightwell has survived his introduction to the sinister, seductive world of the Library, but serving in its army is nothing like he envisioned. His life and the lives of those he cares for have been altered forever. His best friend is lost, and Morgan, the girl he loves, is locked away in the Iron Tower and doomed to a life apart.

Embarking on a mission to save one of their own, Jess and his band of allies make one wrong move and suddenly find themselves hunted by the Library’s deadly automata and forced to flee Alexandria, all the way to London.

But Jess’s home isn’t safe anymore. The Welsh army is coming, London is burning, and soon, Jess must choose between his friends, his family, or the Library willing to sacrifice anything and anyone in the search for ultimate control…

So, there you have it for this batch. Anything catch your eye?

WOO… called it on the Demonica plot… finally read Base Instincts the other day and there was no clue, and Goodreads was no help at the time either… need to sign up for her newsletter I guess… also… is Desdemona in Thinning the Herd a were-octopus?… between the cover and the blurb I might have to check that out

Yeah, the only info I had about the Demonica series you gave to me. I really should do the newsletter thing for authors, it would save much time hunting down info.

      • Iain says:

I actually thought newsletters might be where you got 1/2 your info… I hate trying to troll through facebook or twitter feeds when authors don’t maintain a blog and goodreads is behind on indie author info…

I only started signing up for newsletters a few months ago, and they’re a mixed bag… some like Penny Reid and Nalini Singh hand out exclusive excerpts/short stories and info… others like Ilona Andrews (I think) and Gail Carriger (I know) are like emailed RSS feeds of blog posts.

        • kaleigha says:

Nope, I might get two or three newsletters, the rest of the time it is hunting and luck. And a bit of stalking, in some cases.
