New Series Alerts

Welcome to May, everyone. Surprising pretty much nobody, I’m sure, is the fact that the current book of the month is White Hot from Ilona Andrews. It might not be a first book of a series, but it was definitely long-awaited. But while you are counting down the days until its release, there are a couple of new series to check out.

This first one is from author Juliet Lyons. Dating the Undead is the first book of her new V-Date.Com series.

It’s Bridget Jones with vampires in this fresh and funny paranormal romance from debut author Juliet Lyons

When Silver Harris kisses sexy Irish vampire Logan Byrne on New Year’s Eve, she knows other humans just won’t suffice. Convinced she’ll never see him again, she joins the uber-popular vampire dating site, V-Date.com.

What Silver doesn’t know is that the site is more dangerous than she could ever imagined, and soon she’s in over her head. When Logan returns, sparks fly and attraction sizzles, but they’ll have to escape some very real demons if they have any chance of lasting forever.

And this second one is a young adult release from Laurie Forest. The Black Witch is the first book of The Black Witch Chronicles.

the-black-witchSynopsis…

A new Black Witch will rise…her powers vast beyond imagining.

Elloren Gardner is the granddaughter of the last prophesied Black Witch, Carnissa Gardner, who drove back the enemy forces and saved the Gardnerian people during the Realm War. But while she is the absolute spitting image of her famous grandmother, Elloren is utterly devoid of power in a society that prizes magical ability above all else.

When she is granted the opportunity to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an apothecary, Elloren joins her brothers at the prestigious Verpax University to embrace a destiny of her own, free from the shadow of her grandmother’s legacy. But she soon realizes that the university, which admits all manner of people—including the fire-wielding, winged Icarals, the sworn enemies of all Gardnerians—is a treacherous place for the granddaughter of the Black Witch.

As evil looms on the horizon and the pressure to live up to her heritage builds, everything Elloren thought she knew will be challenged and torn away. Her best hope of survival may be among the most unlikely band of misfits…if only she can find the courage to trust those she’s been taught to hate and fear.

I have to admit, Dating the Undead does look like fun, but I will be strong. STRONG! No new series until I am caught up on the ones I already have planned. Maybe.

As much as I love your novel pick I was wondering if you could do a post about must reads that are extremely similar to the throne of glass series.I loved the books and am trying to find more like them

Even though I have bought the first book a few times (long story), I still haven’t read the Throne of Glass books as yet. I can do a post up that asks the other readers here for recommendations, though, if that might help?

I just finished Juliet Lyon’s Dating the Undead. It was OK; an easy read very heavy on the romance. I liked that it was set in London. I thought it might have been funnier, like a Kerrelyn Sparks novel, but it was a bit more subdued.
