Magic Triumphs News

May 8th is the date to remember – it is the day that we will get our hands on the final Kate Daniels book from Ilona Andrews. Not sure if that is one to celebrate or mourn, honestly, but either way it is one that can’t be missed. And just to get you a bit more excited, upped the official blurb for Magic Triumphs

Mercenary Kate Daniels must risk all to protect everything she holds dear in this epic, can’t-miss entry in the thrilling #1 New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series.

Kate has come a long way from her origins as a loner taking care of paranormal problems in post-Shift Atlanta. She’s made friends and enemies. She’s found love and started a family with Curran Lennart, the former Beast Lord. But her magic is too strong for the power players of the world to let her be.

Kate and her father, Roland, currently have an uneasy truce, but when he starts testing her defenses again, she knows that sooner or later, a confrontation is inevitable. The Witch Oracle has begun seeing visions of blood, fire, and human bones. And when a mysterious box is delivered to Kate’s doorstep, a threat of war from the ancient enemy who nearly destroyed her family, she knows their time is up.

Kate Daniels sees no other choice but to combine forces with the unlikeliest of allies. She knows betrayal is inevitable. She knows she may not survive the coming battle. But she has to try.

For her child.

For Atlanta.

For the world.

Yep, that is going to be a monster. I am not a complete wreck because I know we have more stories set in this world coming our way, but it will still be bittersweet. I am just grateful that it is coming out in May rather than the already over-crowded March.

As soon as this one is released, I’ll start the series. I’ve fallen in love with their writing and have just finished Wildfire (I read the whole series in less than a week LOL)

It’s definitely sad to see the end of Kate’s story. But I’m glad Ilona Andrews will have more time to write Hidden Legacy books! The Kate Daniels world is awesome, but for me Hidden Legacy is a little better. Of course, if Ilona Andrews writes a spinoff with Derek, I’d read it.

There are so few urban fantasy couples as great as Kate/Curran and Nevada/Rogan. Jeaniene Frost writes great couples and so does Kresley Cole, but their books are more PNR.

Some UF heroes are boring or kinda weak (The Hollows, Kitty Norville, Chicagoland Vampires) and aren’t as strong as their heroine. Or the author writes them less strong to make a stumbling heroine seem more badass in comparison.

Would you consider making a list of best UF couples? Like a top ten. Maybe even a top ten of best PNR couples also? Unfortunately, a lot of the listopias on goodreads are really just lists of the most read books of the genre. If this is something you’ve already done please let me know, but I’d like to see your top ten for UF heroes.

Very sad to see this series end. Kate Daniels is my all time favourite UF series. But it’s time. I’m glad they are going to continue to write in this world. I also love the Hidden Legacy series. It’s a close second for me.

I so appreciate that they know when to end a series. It is going to be epic and I am looking forward to reading about the battles to come. I have read several authors that seemed to just follow the money and the books and series are no longer enjoyable for me.
