Weird Kindle Question

Like the title says, this is a weird question. I think. Anyways, I got my pre-ordered copy of Shadow Keeper this week, and it was delivered automatically to both my Kindle and my Kindle for ipad. The weird part is that everything is fine on the regular Kindle end, but the book showed up with the old place-holder cover on the ipad. When you open the book and look up the cover, the official cover art is there, but the image that shows up on the home page is a plain gray rectangle with Christine Feehan’s name and the book title, like this…

That is weird, right? I have removed it from the app and redownloaded and all that crap, but the image above stays. Any ideas?

I’ve been so bothered by this too! Same thing happened for my recent Sierra Simone and Meghan March Books. I don’t know why it’s acting this way because the cover art is definitely available. I recommend calling Amazon support. That’s what I was going to do.

I’ve had this happen with my Nook as well. I think I pre-ordered a book before the cover art was available and when the book was delivered it still had the place holder cover; I never have been able to get the cover art on that book.

That happens a lot when you order early, it also happens when books are in your library that are now out of print, gray cover show us when you open it for a description.
I think that when we order before the cover is released, sometimes Amazon just drops the ball in moving the cover art , because most of them are transferred when the new book is sent.

I ended up doing the chat thing with Amazon, and the fella did try and help. He had me re-sync, then update the app, then uninstall and reinstall the Kindle app itself, and nothing worked. I guess I will have to edit the book in Calibre and send it to myself as a Doc. The fella did give me a $10.00 credit towards my next purchase, though, which I thought was nice of him.

I use Calibre and I sometimes can’t get the cover to load and I even use the cover app to hunt up the best ones … and I still can’t fix it. So good luck and that is where I am spoiled by my kindle fire color covers and it drives me bonkers when I can’t get a decent cover. The old keyboard kindle I had didn’t have covers just titles but I figured out I am a visual memory type person and if I see the cover I can usually remember if I read it or not.
The quirks I get in my “old age”.

It’s happened to me, too, but actually I am not bothered by it. What really bothered me a lot, though, was that I purchased a trilogy for which I liked the covers. And then the author had the covers revamped and somehow they got changed on my Kindle, too, even though I opted out of the bloody “automatic update” option…

That is so annoying. I don’t like the covers on the Canadian In Death covers, so as I get them I swap them out for the UK versions. I have done that for a couple of other books, too.
