New Series Alerts

My plans to try and add more indie, last-minute releases is going pretty well. I am sure a few interesting titles are slipping by me, but I am finding a few new series to highlight, too. Let’s start with Demons Will Be Demons, the first book of The Realm series from AE Jones.

40791897Synopsis…

When missions go awry…

Misha Sokolov is one frustrated demon. While his professional life with the Bureau of Supernatural Relations is rewarding, his romantic prospects are the pits. His teammates Kyle and Jean Luc have found their mates (with his help, he might add). Is it too much to ask for his own happily-ever-after?

When Misha finally meets an amazing demon female who could be THE ONE, Fate conspires against him. With the escalating tensions between the earth and realm demons, and his newest case involving supernatural seven-year-old twin boys, he’s too busy for romance.

Callie, a human female, can’t seem to convince her half-demon sons that using their powers in front of humans is a bad thing. And the more time Misha spends with her, the more he realizes she’s keeping secrets. When those secrets jeopardize both her and her sons, Misha will stop at nothing to keep them safe. Because instead of conspiring against him, Fate may have put a spunky, green-eyed woman and her incorrigible sons in his path for a reason.

This second one is a novella from the upcoming Fire’s Edge series from Abigail Owen. This first story is called The Mate, and it will be followed by The Boss next week.

the mateSynopsis…

Maddie Thompson’s life just fell down a rabbit hole. Finding out she’s a dragon shifter was one thing — she never quite fit into the human world, and this new reality feels… strangely right. However, discovering the next step is to choose a mate, and if she chooses wrong she’ll die, is the other side of crazy. Especially when she already left a piece of her heart with someone who didn’t want it.

To say dragon enforcer Fallon Conleth was shocked when the Mating Council summoned him as a potential mate for a newly found dragon doesn’t quite cover it. A mate is rare and precious and many dragons never find theirs. Fallon isn’t sure he’s worthy of the honor, not when so many deserve it more. He’ll just go through the motions and return home alone… until he sees Maddie. The human woman he reluctantly let walk away.

Fallon already broke Maddie’s heart once, but if he can’t convince her that they’re meant to be, she’ll die… and he won’t be far behind.

This last one comes out on September 20th. Revenge of the Fae is the first book of the Forbidden Fae series from Carly Fall.

40873092Synopsis…

A Fae hell-bent on Revenge. A shifter prison guard searching for answers. And a dangerous path to cross.

When a family member is murdered, Avery Dubois is led to believe the murderer isn’t human. But her wildly dangerous journey for the truth ends when she is thrown into solitary confinement in a paranormal penitentiary.

With the help of a were-shifter guard—Gabe—she discovers a theft from his pack may very well be connected to the murder of her loved one. Gabe agrees to break her out of prison on one condition: she provides him with the information she discovered to hunt down the one responsible for both crimes.

But rivalry between Fae and Shifters goes back several generations, and neither knows if they can really trust the other. And as they work together to solve both cases, Avery quickly realizes that helping Gabe could put her in more danger. If she doesn’t, however, they could both end up dead.

I find the synopsis of Demons will be Demons very confusing: is Callie a demon or a human? She is being called both. Also, what’s with the name Sokolov (is that the Russian equivalent of Smith or Miller)? I have recently encountered 3 fictional characters named Sokolov… the first one being Anna Zaires’ Peter Sokolov from her Tormentor Mine series (Dark romance).

I actually wondered that myself about the human/demon thing. Then I wondered if they were talking about the same woman? Not sure, but it is a bit misleading. And then there was the Sokolov from Christine Feehan’s Sisters of the Heart series, too.
