Pick of the Week

For whatever reason, I completely spazzed out and forgot it was Tuesday. Weird, I know, but it happened. And, my pick of the week isn’t even one that is listed on this site because it doesn’t have any PNR or UF bent. My most anticipated read this week comes from Kelley Armstrong and her Rockton series, and it is called Watcher in the Woods.

The secret town of Rockton has seen some rocky times lately; understandable considering its mix of criminals and victims fleeing society for refuge within its Yukon borders. Casey Duncan, the town’s only detective on a police force of three, has already faced murder, arson and falling in love in less than the year that she’s lived there. Yet even she didn’t think it would be possible for an outsider to find and cause trouble in the town she’s come to call home.

When a US Marshal shows up in town demanding the release of one of the residents, Casey and her boyfriend, Sheriff Dalton, are skeptical. And yet only hours later, the marshal is shot dead and the only visible suspects are the townspeople and her estranged sister, in town for just the weekend. It’s up to Casey to figure out who murdered the marshal, and why they would kill to keep him quiet.

What non-PNR/UF have you been looking forward to? Any good series you follow?

I’m waaaaiting for the fourth book in the Gabriel’s inferno series by Sylvain Reynard. That series is a part of me!

And I’m dying for the continuation of one of the most taboo books I’ve read: Carnalli chronicles by Pas Shen. I don’t remember what the third one is called but it’s supposed to drop this year. If anyone is curious, it’s a book centered around incestuous relationships amongst five brothers.

I remember seeing something about a new book for Gabriel’s Inferno…somewhere. The joy of trying to find so much info is that you can never remember where you saw it. Let me hunt.
