There are a few new series starting up this week, starting with one from Kristen Painter. The Trouble With Witches is the first book of her new Shadowvale series.
Shadowvale isn’t typical small town America. The sun never shines, the gates decide who enters, magic abounds, and every resident bears some kind of curse.
No one knows this as well as raven shifter Deacon Evermore, who, like everyone in his family, has a curse. While his position as Shadowvale’s peacekeeper lets him use that curse for good, he’d rather live anywhere else. He stays for his family, but doubts he can last much longer.
Fledgling witch Emeranth Greer is determined to escape her past and make a fresh start in Shadowvale with the aunt she’s never met. Her aunt and the town prove to be far better than she imagined. There’s no way Em is leaving this magical place. Especially when staying means more time with the handsome Deacon.
But when Em’s troubled past catches up with her and nearly destroys the romance budding between her and Deacon, her instinct is to run again. Except there’s magic in the mix now and the town won’t let her leave. Only Deacon can save her, but can a cursed man clear her name…or will her history destroy them both?
Author Stephanie Rowe, writing under the name S.A. Bayne, has a bunch of new books coming out in the near future. One of them is called The Demon You Trust, and it is the first story in the new Magical Elite series.
If Ellie Locke dies, so does her sister, so when Ellie is murdered by a water god, it’s a no-brainer to cheat death by accepting a deal from a stranger with the power to freeze time…until she discovers he has just set her up as a target for sociopathic serial killer with excellent magical skills.
Her only chance to survive her new job as an agent in a magical crime-fighting organization is her partner, a deliciously sexy half-demon who needs to stay alive as badly as she does. Neither of them has the magical ability to defeat a sociopath who has already killed seventy-six of their predecessors, but who needs skills when you have incentive?
Smoke, shadows, a hostile demon dad from the beyond, and highly paid assassins sent by her loving parents make things a little complicated for Ellie and her new partner, but what’s a pair of breasts and an intimate moment for, if not to save themselves and the world?
And this is just the start.
The final one for today comes from author Mac Flynn. Dragon Spell is the first book of her new Fated Touch series.
Jane is a normal orphan with unusual grandparents. She doesn’t realize how unusual until she returns on holiday from college to discover that her grandmother has been kidnapped. Her grandfather reveals that her kidnappers are a new foe from an old world, and her grandmother’s only hope is for them to travel to the other side after her.
The Shifting World, however, isn’t as easy as ours. Every monster, witch, demon, and other mystical fable that haunts the fairytale books of our world resides among those lands. Jane finds herself stumbling through one adventure after another as she tries to learn the ropes, and the magic, of the new world in order to save her grandmother, and herself.
Even a place as strange as the Shifting World, however, has its familiar handsome men. One of them is Caius, a dragon shifter with a sly smile and a glint in his eyes. He joins their search for her missing grandmother, but Jane isn’t so sure it isn’t another member of her family that he’s interested in.
There you have it for this week. Will you be picking up any of these new series?
