New Series Alert

This post might be a day late, but I guess it falls under the “better than never” category, maybe? There is one new series starting up today, and it comes from author Sarah Fine. The Serpent is the first book of her Immortal Dealers series, and it will be followed by The Guardian on October 23rd.

Ernestine “Ernie” Terwilliger has put her dreams aside to look after her eccentric mother. Case in point: saving her from a mysterious stranger who’s just stormed the terrified woman’s antique store wearing a rattlesnake tattoo, leveling threats, and brandishing the weirdest deck of cards Ernie’s ever seen.

When Ernie grabs some of the cards and runs, she’s launched into a world she never knew existed—one her mother may know more about than she’s revealing. With a handful of stolen cards, Ernie has just been made an unwilling player in a game of good versus evil. But she’s not even playing with a full deck, and its original owner is more than happy to kill to get his cards back.

Suddenly Ernie’s matching wits and plays with the supernatural Immortal Dealers, who can raise empires, damn souls, and shape the world’s destiny. It’s up to Ernie to defeat the most brutal member of their order. And if her roguish new ally isn’t bluffing, he can help. The mystery is all in the cards, and to save her life—and humanity—Ernie had better learn how to deal.

I am always on the lookout for something different, and this could fit the bill. I like that it isn’t vamp/were/witch, but still sounds like it has some action. Will you be checking out The Serpent?

New Series Alert

Yep, I am pretty sure that this is the most useless new series alert post I have ever done – like nobody knows that The Iron Covenant is starting up this week. Anyways, Ilona Andrews‘ newest book is Iron and Magic, and it is a spin-off of the Kate Daniels series that will feature bad-boy Hugh d’Ambray.

iron and magicSynopsis…

Hugh d’Ambray, Preceptor of the Iron Dogs, Warlord of the Builder of Towers, served only one man. Now his immortal, nearly omnipotent master has cast him aside. Hugh is a shadow of the warrior he was, but when he learns that the Iron Dogs, soldiers who would follow him anywhere, are being hunted down and murdered, he must make a choice: to fade away or to be the leader he was born to be. Hugh knows he must carve a new place for himself and his people, but they have no money, no shelter, and no food, and the necromancers are coming. Fast.

Elara Harper is a creature who should not exist. Her enemies call her Abomination; her people call her White Lady. Tasked with their protection, she’s trapped between the magical heavyweights about to collide and plunge the state of Kentucky into a war that humans have no power to stop. Desperate to shield her people and their simple way of life, she would accept help from the devil himself—and Hugh d’Ambray might qualify.

Hugh needs a base, Elara needs soldiers. Both are infamous for betraying their allies, so how can they create a believable alliance to meet the challenge of their enemies?

As the prophet says: “It is better to marry than to burn.”

Hugh and Elara may do both.

I probably should stop being such a fan-girl…when you get to my age, it’s just plain weird. Eh, whatever. I am going to be so very, very strong and not even take a peek at this until my day off on Saturday, which I plan to completely devote to reading Iron and Magic and doing absolutely nothing else. My idea of heaven.

Usually, this is where I would ask who is planning on picking this one up. Instead, maybe I should ask who isn’t? And who else wants to snatch the wig off of the model dude? No? Just me then?

New Series Alert

Since another Monday has rolled around, it is time to take a look at what new series are starting up this week. There is only one, and it comes from author Kelly Meding. Stray Magic is the first book of the Strays series.

stray magicSynopsis…

Shiloh Harrison was hoping for a few days off to recover from a particularly nasty assignment, preferably with the help of the talented hands (and, well, the rest of his body too) of her sexy boyfriend, Vincent. But when a group of vampires takes an entire trailer park hostage, there’s nothing to do but make her apologies and get to the scene.

Such is the life of a Federal Marshal in the Paranormal Investigators Unit.

Yet this isn’t like her typical track-and-nab case: something is going on that has vampires scared, and it takes all her strength not to imagine what could frighten such powerful creatures. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have that option. Her boss is MIA, someone is snatching vampires, and there’s a ticking clock that can only end one way: a bloodbath.

Unless she can stop it.

I am on a bit of a new-to-me author kick, and this sounds like something that I could get into. Just might have to break down and pick this one up, too. Will you be checking this new one out from Kelly Meding?

New Series Alert

Happy June, everyone, which is the weirdest thing to type. I can’t believe how fast this year is chugging along so far. We have one new series starting up this week, and it comes from Alexis Morgan. In Darkness Transformed is the first book of the Paladin Strike Team series.

in darkness transformedSynopsis…

The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Paladin series returns with this sexy, original title featuring a man discovering the paranormal world of the paladins.

Dying hurts…but not as much as living.

Eli is lucky to survive the helicopter crash that killed the rest of the passengers. But when he notices his wounds healing before his eyes, it seems like his survival may have come from more than luck.

Safara knows what Eli does not—Eli is a paladin, a mortal enemy of someone like Safara, someone from Kalithia.

Still, after Eli saves Safara’s life, and Safara introduces Eli to a whole new world, they just can’t seem to treat each as enemies.

It is nice to see Alexis Morgan return to paranormal romance, since her last release was way back in 2015. Are you a fan of her Paladins series? Are you glad to see this spin-off

New Series Alert

Well, happy Monday. Let’s take a look at a new series starting up this week – Jenn Stark‘s Demon Enforcers. The first book is called Demon Unbound, and it will be released tomorrow.

demon unboundSynopsis…

None of us is without Sin…

After serving untold millennia as the leader of a demon special ops team with a brutal reputation for efficiency, Warrick of the Syx has seen it all, done it all, killed it all. Penance for his own damnation? Sure. But with the world running black with blood and magic, his skills are definitely in high demand.

This time, though…there’s a catch. And her name is Maria Santos. Beautiful, badass, and out for blood, Maria’s wrestling with her own dark secrets. The kind of secrets that call to Warrick’s twisted soul. A call he knows better than to answer.

Unfortunately, the dangerously tempting undercover cop is Warrick’s only ticket into the lockdown hellhole where a particularly vicious demon faction is boiling over, ready to unleash a new Armageddon on earth. If he wants to get at them, he’s going to have to take Maria with him.

But the second she gets caught in the crossfire between Warrick and the scum of eternity, well…

Hell hath no fury like a Demon Unbound.

I hunted around a while back to see if there were any early reviews floating around for this one, but I never did find any. I did check out the author’s website, though, and found that there are at least five more books due in the series…three of which will be coming by this fall.

Will you be checking out the Demon Enforcers? Did anyone try her Immortal Vegas series, and if you did, what did you think?

New Series Alerts

Howdy, all. Seems like my posting has been pretty scarce lately, but there are a few new covers and whatnot to highlight, a few blurbs to look at, and some new release dates to discuss, but that will all have to wait until after we look at the new series starting up this week.

The first one comes from Lara Adrian, and it from her Midnight Breed spin-off series, Hunter Legacy. Book one is called Born of Darkness.

born of darknessSynopsis…

As a former assassin in the Hunter program, Asher is one of a small group of Gen One Breed vampires who survived the horrors of a madman’s laboratory and the cruelty of the training that made him one of the most lethal beings in existence.

Now, twenty years after his escape from those hellish origins, Ash is a loner whose heart is as cold as his skills are lethal. But when a beautiful, secretive young woman on the run from dangerous enemies crosses his path in the middle of a dark night in the desert outside Las Vegas, Ash is drawn into a deadly game where trust can be an illusion and love may be the sharpest weapon of all.

And the second one comes from Shelly Laurenston. Hot and Badgered is the first book of her new Honey Badgers series, and I for one can’t wait. I loved the badgers in their few previous appearances in The Pride series, so this should be good. It is also my pick of the week, just because.

It’s not every day that a beautiful naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn’s hotel balcony. Definitely they don’t usually hop up and demand his best gun. Berg gives the lady a grizzly-sized t-shirt and his cell phone, too, just on style points. And then she’s gone, taking his XXXL heart with her. By the time he figures out she’s a honey badger shifter, it’s too late.

Honey badgers are survivors. Brutal, vicious, ill-tempered survivors. Or maybe Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan is just pissed that her useless father is trying to get them all killed again, and won’t even tell her how. Protecting her little sisters has always been her job, and she’s not about to let some pesky giant grizzly protection specialist with a network of every shifter in Manhattan get in her way. Wait. He’s trying to help? Why would he want to do that? He’s cute enough that she just might let him tag along—that is, if he can keep up.

New Series Alert

After a pretty epic book hangover from last week, this week is a little easier to manage (still finishing up the last of my “big three” from last week, and they were all awesome). But debuting tomorrow is the first book of a new series from Rhenna Morgan, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on Guardian’s Bond as an ARC. This one caught my eye when I first saw the listing for it a few months back, and I am happy to say that I quite enjoyed it. I will definitely be picking up the next one (whenever that might be released).

guardian's bondSynopsis…

For decades, he’s been alone.
Now, she’s here. His fated mate.
His to win. To protect.
To provide for and pleasure.

Priest Rahandras has lived with the darkness trapped inside himself for years. Betrayed by his own brother and forced to watch his clan’s brutal annihilation, the only thing Priest wants more than to escape the curse that haunts him—as both man and beast—is to rebuild.

Until the mate he’s longed for walks into his life with an elder from his past. She’s everything he’s wished for, and the key to the clan’s very survival.

Kateri Falsen is a woman of logic and facts. While Priest’s cat can sense her arousal, telling her they’re fated won’t be enough. He’ll have to show her his love: with his words, with his actions, and with his body.

Protecting Kateri from the evil trapped inside him is paramount. But when lost clan members are systematically murdered, he’ll have to choose between exposing his mate to his black magic, or risking her as the next victim.

Will you be giving this new series a shot? Have you read any of Rhenna Morgan’s other works, and if so, what did you think?

New Series Alert

Well, if any of you are like me, you are half excited for and half dreading tomorrow. Also known as my yearly “too many great books day”. I mean, really? Must three of my top series all have their once-a-year (or two) releases on the same day? Really? Anyways, there is more than just the big three coming out tomorrow, and one of them is from Ashlyn Chase. Hooked on a Phoenix is the first book of her new Phoenix Brothers series.

hooked on a phoenixSynopsis…

Misty Carlisle works as a bank teller in Boston’s financial district. She’s had more rotten luck in her life than most, except when her childhood crush shows up to cash his paycheck. Then her heart races and her mouth goes dry.

Gabe Fierro is a firefighter―and a phoenix. Like his brothers, his biggest challenge is finding a woman open-minded enough to accept a shapeshifter into her life. When his boyhood friend asks him to watch over his little sister Misty, he reluctantly agrees. But when the bank where she works gets held up, Gabe does everything he can to protect her. The two of them end up locked in the bank’s vault…where things get steamier than either of them ever imagined.

This one sounds like it could be fun. You know, after the “big three”. Ugh.

New Series Alerts

My days are all mixed up for some reason, and I almost forgot to make a new series alert post. Must be getting old. There are two to take a look at this week, and the first one comes from Shannon Mayer. Witch’s Reign is the first book of the Desert Cursed series.

witch's reignSynopsis…

I am cursed by the desert I was born in, and now I wander the space between the Walls meant to hold my kind-the supernatural kind- in.

If I can find a way out, if I can find a way to escape, perhaps I can outrun this curse. But that means passing through the Ice Witch’s realm-something no one has returned from.

But life has a funny way of changing directions on you. A freak accident. A child in danger. And a damn Warlock named Merlin who thinks he can manipulate me.

It looks like I’m about to start a journey I never planned on, to face a Witch who has never been challenged, in an attempt to survive a storm of magic, danger, and trickery.

And the second newbie is one I have mentioned before. Maria Vale starts her new Legend of All Wolves series tomorrow with the release of The Last Wolf.

the last wolfSynopsis…

For three days out of thirty, when the moon is full and her law is iron, the Great North Pack must be wild. Silver Nilsdottir is a lone runt with a crippled leg, facing a life of endless submission in the Pack.

Then Tiberius Leveraux stumbles wounded into their territory with a plea for protection. If Silver is to make a real place for herself, she must fight for Tiberius—her only chance at ever having a mate. And in the end, she is forced to shield all of them—the Pack, the land, and the man she loves—from ancient enemies.

Will you be picking up either of these? I have The Last Wolf on preorder, but Shannon Mayer is still on my “one day” list. The long, long one day list.

New Series Alerts

Well, I have been looking forward to this one for a while now. Of all of Christine Feehan‘s series, the books set in Sea Haven have become my favorites over the years (even though they have been getting progressively more tortured hero/heroine as they have gone on). That makes Judgment Road my pick of the week.

As the enforcer of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club, Reaper lives for riding and fighting. He’s a stone-cold killer who turns his wrath on those who deserve it. Feelings are a weakness he can’t afford–until a gorgeous bartender gets under his skin…

Near Sea Haven, the small town of Caspar has given Anya Rafferty a new lease on life. And she’s desperate to hold on to her job at the biker bar, even if the scariest member of the club seems to have it out for her. But Reaper’s imposing presence and smoldering looks just ratchet up the heat.

Anya’s touch is everything Reaper doesn’t want–and it brands him to the bone. But when her secrets catch up to her, Reaper will have to choose between Anya and his club–his heart and his soul.

I haven’t really read much in the way of motorcycle series, so this will be new for me. Now I just have to try and remember who is who in the monster cast, which could be fun.
