Cover Lover – 14 New Titles

I can’t believe how long it has been since I have done up a cover lover post featuring more than just one book. I have been holding onto some of these for a while, so might as well take a quick peek. Let’s start with a new one from Eve Langlais. Jilted Prince is the second book of her Hell’s Son series, and it will be released on March 29th.

jilted princeShe left him at the altar, but the Devil is making him keep his promise.

Destiny is calling Chris, yet someone forgot to give him an instruction manual on conquering the world. Being the Antichrist is all well and good, but how is he supposed to know how to bring about Armageddon? He’s still waiting for his army of minions, the glory, the riches. And where is the respect?

You’d think any woman would be ecstatic at the thought of marrying the future ruler of the world.

Not Isobel.

She keeps spouting things like “forced to get married,” “love me for myself, not because Daddy made you.”

It doesn’t help that his psychotic mother with a penchant for playing with dead things has taken an interest. However, having her henchman of the apocalypse attempt to kidnap him isn’t the way to get in his good graces.

Things are starting to get complicated on Earth. Dark forces are rising, Chris’s powers are still developing—and he’s pretty sure his dad, Lucifer, wants him dead. What’s the destroyer of the world to do?

Point him to the nearest bar. This calls for more beer.

This second one is from Ashlyn Chase. Hooked on a Phoenix is due out next March 6th.

hooked on a phoenixMisty Carlisle works as a bank teller in Boston’s financial district. She’s had more rotten luck in her life than most, except when her childhood crush shows up to cash his paycheck. Then her heart races and her mouth goes dry.

Gabe Fierro is a firefighter―and a phoenix. Like his brothers, his biggest challenge is finding a woman open-minded enough to accept a shapeshifter into her life. When his boyhood friend asks him to watch over his little sister Misty, he reluctantly agrees. But when the bank where she works gets held up, Gabe does everything he can to protect her. The two of them end up locked in the bank’s vault…where things get steamier than either of them ever imagined.

Terry Spear keeps cranking them out. Flight of the White Wolf is the 24th book of the Heart of the Wolf series, and it will be released on March 6th.

flight of the white wolfGavin Summerfield―an arctic wolf shifter with a fear of flying―has to fly into the vast lakeland wilderness of northern Minnesota to track down his suspect―where his ability to shift will come in very handy. Imagine his chagrin when his pilot turns out to be the woman who tasered him last time they saw each other. Things are off to a rocky start…again.

Arctic wolf shifter Amelia White isn’t entirely displeased to see Gavin again, but priorities shift when their plane is sabotaged and goes down in the middle of nowhere. As their attraction grows, Amelia hopes Gavin doesn’t discover the secret she’s been keeping…she knows he could never forgive her…

Storm Crossed is up next. It is the 4th book of the Grim series from Dani Harper, and it will be released on January 9th.

storm crossedHeir to a noble fae house, Trahern is forced to watch helplessly as his twin brother is cruelly changed into a grim—a death dog—as punishment for falling in love with the wrong person. Trahern doesn’t believe love exists, but he will do anything to keep his brother alive—even join the Wild Hunt and ride the night skies of the human world.

Lissy Santiago-Callahan believes in love but has no time for it. She’s busy juggling her career as an academic and her home life as a single mom to a young son with Asperger’s. Her hectic life in sleepy Eastern Washington is made even more chaotic with the sudden arrival of a demanding fae and his unusual “dog.”

Mortal and immortal have nothing in common, and the attraction between Lissy and Trahern surprises them both. But when their desire places Lissy and her child in the path of a deadly faery feud, will the connection last, or will their separate worlds prove too great a divide?

I have always been a big Jennifer L. Armentrout fan, but for some reason I never did get into this series. Brave is the 3rd book of A Wicked Saga, and it will be out on December 11th.

braveIvy Morgan hasn’t been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.

It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine… and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart. If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies. Ivy knows she must be more than just brave to save those she loves–and, ultimately, to save herself.

Because behind every evil fae Prince, there’s a Queen…

Not long to wait for this next one. Fury of Denial from Coreene Callihan is the 7th book of the Dragonfury series, and it will be released on October 30th.

fury of denialHe’s an antisocial dragon shifter with a serious sweet tooth. She’s a pastry chef who won’t give him any sugar.

Blinded in an ambush, dragon warrior Wallaig has spent half a century in the dark with one thing on his mind—vengeance. When the rogue faction responsible returns to Scotland and targets a human female, he saves her life, determined to exact his revenge—even if it means using her as bait.

Smart-mouthed Amantha Leblanc is pastry chef with dreams of opening her own shop. The money is in the bank. Her mission is clear. The plan goes to hell the second Wallaig breaks into her apartment and she defends herself with a rolling pin. With a rogue pack of dragons circling, she is forced to rely on a man she doesn’t like—but isn’t able to resist.

Bec McMaster has a new one coming out on October 24th. Soulbound is the 3rd book of the Dark Arts series.

soulboundA dark force is rising in London…

Sebastian Montcalm knows freedom for the first time in his life, but it has come at the cost of his father’s soul. If he can learn to harness his uncontrollable sorcery then he might be able to save his father from a demon’s grip, but every move he makes leads to failure. The only thing that gives him hope is the innocent touch of Cleo Sinclair, the woman he was forced to marry. But will his darkness drown out her light?

He could be her destruction…

Cleo knew her father only ever loved her for the power of her visions, but when he bartered her away in marriage to a man she’d never met, she realized how little value she truly had. Her husband, Sebastian, was nothing more than a dark warmth in her bed, a stranger who refused to touch her. But together, the two tortured souls found friendship. And now, when he needs her the most, he won’t even look at her.

…Or she could be his salvation…

When Cleo receives a powerful vision of a darkness that threatens London, she knows she is the key to defeating it. Only by working together can she and Sebastian prevail. But is Sebastian the one who can end this prophetic doom, or the one bound to begin it?

The 20th Sisters of the Moon book from Yasmine Galenorn will be called Harvest Song, and it has a release date of May 8th.

harvest songWe’re the D’Artigo sisters: savvy half-human, half-Fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Camille is the Queen of Dusk & Twilight and married to three hunky men. Menolly is a vampire married to a gorgeous werepuma and a vampire prince. And me? I’m Delilah, a Death Maiden werecat, and I’m about to marry the love of my life. But in the midst of joy, we are facing the escalating war with Shadow Wing. About to attempt one of the most dangerous acts we’ve ever considered, can we keep the demon armies at bay while luring the demon lord into one final, coordinated attack?

My wedding day to Shade arrives, and somebody invited Murphy’s Law along to the ceremony. But the chaos only extends from there. Camille and her Keraastar Knights are finally united and ready. Menolly and Roman are aligning the vampires. And the dragons have pledged their help as the final battle with Shadow Wing draws near. But best laid plans go awry. As our plans fall apart, we must align ourselves with Trytian and the daemons. Will they be able to help us corner Shadow Wing when several of the portals fail and demons begin pouring into Seattle? Or are we too late and will Shadow Wing manage to break through, even without the help of the spirit seals?

This anthology seems like it could be interesting. Amid the Winter Snow will feature stories from Grace Draven, Thea Harrison, Elizabeth Hunter and Jeffe Kennedy, and it will available on December 12th.

amid the winter snow

December 5th is the release date for the 3rd Outcast book from Keri Arthur, The Black Tide.

the black tideThough Winter Halo – the pharmaceutical company behind the evil experimentation on both children and adults – has been destroyed, the danger is far from over. Not only do seven children remain unaccounted for, but some of the vampires are now able walk in light.

The key to stopping the unthinkable lies in finding Ciara Dream, the last member of the trio behind the plot to give full light immunity to both the vampires and the Others. But Ciara, like Tiger herself, is a shapeshifter, able to take on any human form she desires.

To find her, Tiger will need to use every skill in her formidable arsenal, and even that might not be enough to save the city and the people she has started to care about.

Because the vampires are coming, and this time, the lights won’t stop them.

Donna Grant has a new release coming, too. Torched is part of the Dark Kings series, and it will be out on May 29th.

torched.jpgThe King of Silvers. Cunning, perceptive, resourceful. Determined. Banished from Dreagan eons ago because of a betrayal that shattered his entire existence, his sole focus in life is to exact revenge against the Dragon Kings. He has been alone, trusting no one for thousands of years. Until she walks into his life. He should not yearn for her, but there is no stopping the fiercely burning attraction. When he’s with her, he isn’t thinking of war or revenge. He only thinks of her, craves her. Burns for her. But soon he will be forced to choose: Will he continue on his course of destruction or will he be able to set aside his vengeance to save the woman who risked everything for him.

This next one is an anthology that will feature Eve Langlais, Milly Taiden and Kate Baxter. The Big Alpha in Town will be released on May 15th.

Almost done. Shadow Hunt is the 3rd book from Melissa F. Olson‘s Disrupted Magic series, and it will be out next February 13th.

shadow huntFor years now, Scarlett Bernard has counted on two things: her ability to nullify magic, and Shadow, the bargest who guards Scarlett with her life. But after a sudden revelation turns Scarlett’s world upside down, she panics and leaves town without warning, leaving Shadow with her partner, Jesse. In the chaos that follows, the bargest is stolen—and Jesse nearly dies from a brutal psychic assault.

It seems that an old enemy has returned for revenge…and the attack on Shadow was only the beginning. As Scarlett races home to find the bargest and rescue her friends, she is dragged deeper into a terrifying legend that has somehow found its way to present-day Los Angeles.

Now she will have to recruit every possible ally for a battle that will test her null ability to the limit. Scarlett has been in over her head before, but now she risks losing everything—and she’s never had more to lose.

And this final one is the one I am most looking forward to. Caught in Time is the 3rd book of the time-travel/police procedural/mystery Kendra Donovan series from Julie McElwain, and it will be out on July 3rd.

caught in timeOctober 1815: There is only one place Kendra Donovan wants to travel—back to her own time period in the twenty-first century. But since that’s not happening, she agrees instead to travel with her new guardian, the Duke of Aldridge, to one of his smaller estates in Lancashire. Their journey takes them through Yorkshire, a region whose breathtaking beauty masks a simmering violence brought on by the Industrial Revolution, which pits mill owner against worker.

When Kendra and the Duke encounter a band of Luddites on a lonely, fog-shrouded road, the Duke informs the authorities in the nearby village of East Dingleford that mischief may have been done at the local mill. However, it isn’t just mischief but murder that is discovered, when the body of the mill manager, Mr. Stone, is found brutally bludgeoned to death in his office.

The Constable is certain the radical-minded Luddites committed the murder. One look at the crime scene and Kendra knows they did not, prompting the Duke to shock the locals by volunteering their services to catch the real killer. Joined by lover Alec and Bow Street Runner Sam Kelly, Kendra must sort through the puzzle of Stone’s rather unsavory life, picking apart alibies and dissecting carefully created deceptions from a growing list of suspects.

As a special agent for the FBI, Kendra thought she’d encountered every kind of evil. But when another, even more vicious murder rocks East Dingleford, Kendra realizes that they’re dealing with a stone-cold killer—one who has a shocking secret that he will do anything to protect.

Ok, that was way longer than I thought it was going to be. Anything catch your eye? There are a couple I will be picking up for sure, and a couple more that I might get to one day, if I am lucky.

Last Minute and Late Additions

This would usually be the point where I would whine about trying to keep track of last-minute new releases, but I am going to let that one go for now. My latest run-through of Amazon and Goodreads did lead to a few titles that I had let slip through the cracks (and a few new-to-me ones, too)…

  • Alexandra Ivy – Dragons of Eternity Collection (Dragons of Eternity #1-3) – October 3rd
  • Thea Harrison – A Dragon’s Family Album II – October 6th
  • Elizabeth Cole – Keep Me Close (The Brothers Salem #1) – October 24th
  • Bec McMaster – Soulbound (Dark Arts #3) – October 24th
  • Coreene Callahan – Fury of Denial (Dragonfury #7) – October 30th
  • D.B. Reynolds – Relentless (Vampires in America #11.5) – October 30th
  • Elizabeth Hunter – Midnight Labyrinth (Elemental Legacy #4) – November 7th
  • Lisa Shearin – The Myth Manifestation (SPI Files #5) – November 7th
  • Izzy Shows – Blood Exile (Ruled by Blood #3) – November 14th
  • Devon Monk – Paper Stars (Ordinary Magic #3.6) – November 27th

Last Minute Additions

I did a quick little scan through Amazon today to see if there have been any “last minute” additions to the new release schedules (or any that I just plain missed), and I came up with a few I thought I would mention.

There was a moment when I got excited and thought that Alyssa Day‘s oft-delayed third Tiger’s Eye Mystery, Evil Eye, was out this month too, but that was proven false. I believe it has had maybe 4 pushbacks so far, and if I am not mistaken it went from July 2016 to September 2016 to January 2017 to…end of this summer, maybe? Hopefully.

Cover Lover – 9 New Titles

I can’t believe it has been well over a month since my last cover lover post. Honestly, though, there just wasn’t that much going on. There were a few uploaded here and there, but nothing that grabbed my attention. So, here is a bit of a sampling of what I have found for the last few weeks.

Deborah Hunter recently started up a new series called Nava Katz, and the second book will be released on June 26th. It is called The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Sting.

the unlikeable demon hunter sting50% boobs. 50% sarcasm. 100% new breed of hunter.

After a bumpy start as the only female demon hunter in the top secret Brotherhood of David, Nava Katz heads to Prague for her first undercover mission: unmasking a demon movie star. She’d be all kinds of thrilled if it weren’t for the fact that her fellow hunter-with-benefits, Rohan Mitra, has reclaimed his rock star status and assigned Nava the role of groupie.

Rejecting her “be a good girl and follow orders” directive, Nava unleashes an alter ego guaranteed to hook their celebrity target and drive Rohan crazy. No downside–until she finds herself up against Rohan’s past, the Brotherhood’s antiquated thinking, and her own identity issues, turning her personal life into the bomb that could blow up the entire operation.

Sparkly and deadly; it’s a plan.

Did you know that there is an Innkeeper Chronicles collection coming from Ilona Andrews? I didn’t. It is a limited hardcover edition featuring all three of the first Innkeeper stories, and it will be released on May 31st.

inkeeper chronicles volume 1Meet Dina Demille, a nice Texas gal who runs a seemingly ordinary, quaint B&B.  But Dina’s inn is a magic, thinking entity; her fluffy Shih-tzu, Beast really is a beast; and her guests are the kind that no one on earth is supposed to know about:  guests like a dethroned galactic tyrant with a massive bounty on her head, the Lord Marshal of a powerful vampire clan, and a displaced—and superhot—alpha-strain werewolf.

So don’t expect a normal stay…and don’t stand too close, or you may be collateral damage….

In Clean Sweep, Dina—with the unwanted assistance of newcomer (and alpha werewolf) Sean Evans and Arland, a cosmic vampire soldier—takes on an extraterrestrial killing machine that could destroy her Inn, her neighbors, and everything she holds dear.

Sweep in Peace, finds Dina hosting an anything-but peace summit between three warring intergalactic species; Space Vampires, the Hope-Crushing Horde, and the devious Merchants of Baha-char.

One Fell Sweep sends Dina to the galaxy’s worst penal colony to rescue her sister; and back home to fend off a clan of assassins in pursuit, all while saving a guest’s civilization from annihilation…and searching for her missing parents.

September 5th is the release date for White Trash Zombie Unchained, the 6th White Trash Zombie book from Diana Rowland.

white trash zombie unchained.jpgAngel Crawford has finally pulled herself together (literally!) after her disastrous dismemberment on Mardi Gras. She’s putting the pieces of her life back in order and is ready to tackle whatever the future holds.

Too bad the future is a nasty bitch. There’s a new kind of zombie in town: mindless shamblers, infectious and ravenous.

With the threat of a full-blown shambler pandemic looming, and a loved one stricken, Angel and the “real” zombies scramble to find a cure. Yet when Angel uncovers the true reason the plague is spreading so quickly, she adds “no-holds-barred revenge” to her to-do list.

Angel is busting her ass dealing with shambling hordes, zombie gators, government jerks, and way too many mosquitos, but this white trash chick ain’t giving up.

Good thing, since the fate of the world is resting on her undead shoulders.

Holly Black will start a new young adult fantasy series next year called The Folk of the Air. The first book is called The Cruel Prince, and it will be released on January 2nd.

the cruel prince.jpgOf course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

Another young adult fantasy book heading our way is Ever the Brave from Erin Summerill. It is the second book of her Clash of Kingdoms series, and it is due out on December 5th.

ever the braveAfter saving King Aodren with her newfound Channeler powers, Britta only wants to live a peaceful life in her childhood home. Unfortunately, saving the King has created a tether between them she cannot sever, no matter how much she’d like to, and now he’s insisting on making her a noble lady. And there are those who want to use Britta’s power for evil designs. If Britta cannot find a way to harness her new magical ability, her life—as well as her country—may be lost.

The stakes are higher than ever in the sequel to Ever the Hunted, as Britta struggles to protect her kingdom and her heart.

And guess what? This is another young adult fantasy cover, this time from author Morgan Rhodes. Immortal Reign is the 6th book in her Falling Kingdoms series, and it has a release date of December 12th.

immortal reignJonas continues to willfully defy his destiny, but the consequences of plotting his own course are drastic. As the fight for Mytica rages on, he must decide just how much more he’s willing to sacrifice.

Lucia knows there’s something special about her daughter and she’ll do anything to protect her, even if that means facing Kyan alone.

Amara is called back home to Kraeshia. Grandma Cortas has her own plans for Mytica’s future. She promises Amara power, revenge, and dominance if she agrees to be part of her scheme.

Magnus and Cleo‘s love will be put to the ultimate test. Dark magic is causing widespread destruction throughout the kingdom. Enemies across the sea are advancing. And unrest is stirring throughout the land. Is their love strong enough to withstand the outside forces tearing them apart?

This next one is from Bec McMaster. The Mech Who Loved Me is the second book of the London Steampunk: The Blue Blood Conspiracy series, and it will be released on June 27th.

the mech who loved meAva McLaren is tired of being both a virgin, and a mere laboratory assistant for the Company of Rogues. When a baffling mystery rears its head, it presents her with the opportunity to work a real case… and perhaps get a taste of the passion that eludes her.

Blue bloods are dying from a mysterious disease, which should be impossible. Ava suspects there’s more to the case than meets the eye and wants a chance to prove herself. There’s just one catch—she’s ordered to partner with the sexy mech, Kincaid, who’s a constant thorn in her side. Kincaid thinks the only good blue blood is a dead one. He’s also the very last man she would ever give her heart to… which makes him the perfect candidate for an affair.

The only rule? It ends when the case does.

But when an attempt on her life proves that Ava might be onto something, the only one who can protect her is Kincaid. Suddenly the greatest risk is not to their hearts, but whether they can survive a diabolical plot that threatens to destroy every blue blood in London—including Ava.

I had honestly figured this series was dead, but then Coreene Callahan released the cover art for her 6th Dragonfury series, Fury of Surrender. This one has a release date of July 11th.

fury of surrenderDragon-warrior Forge has been sentenced to death by the Dragonkind elite. Recalling the memories of his family’s murders could drive him to the edge of insanity, but it’s the only way to remove the target on his back. Fiercely determined to protect his pack and his newborn son, Forge agrees to undergo harrowing treatments to help him remember the trauma buried deep inside his heart and mind. When nothing works, a woman of unprecedented power is brought in to help.

Young, bright, and haunted by her own demons, hypnotherapist Hope Cunningham helps patients recover from their darkest memories. But each time she liberates a wayward soul, Hope’s personal pain digs deeper—until one patient ignites an unforgettable passion.

Forge’s healing journey is not without risk. Unwittingly, he has put Hope in the middle of a dangerous war, one that could shatter their eternal bond. Will the curative power of love be enough to save them?

The third and final book of Kristin Casts‘ young adult The Escaped series will be called Cerulean Sea, and it will be out on October 17th.

cerulean sea

I know there were probably a ton of covers that I didn’t catch, and I find I have been letting things slide around here the last couple of months while I try and get other things in order. Nothing major, but just life stuff that seems to suck up all the free time. Hopefully I have things back on track now and I won’t get behind again. Hopefully.

Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

It feels like it has been a while since I have done a cover lover post, and there still isn’t a lot to post but here goes anyways. For a change, let’s start with the young adult books. This first one is from Kate Elliott. Buried Heart is the third book of her Court of Fives series, and it is due out on July 25th.

Next up is One Blood Ruby, the next book in the Seven Black Diamonds series from Melissa Marr. This one will be out on February 28th.

one-blood-rubyNow that Lilywhite Abernathy is the heir to the Hidden Lands, everything is about to change.

After decades of waging war on the humans, who cost the queen her firstborn daughter, the fae are struggling to accept Lily, a half-human monarch. And the humans, while no match against faery affinities, will hardly agree to the queen’s détente without resistance.

Lily wants to be a fair ruler but fears having to abandon the life she’s known to do so. Now that she and Creed are more than just fellow Black Diamonds—operatives for the queen—her priorities have shifted. But her worries about assuming the throne are derailed when it becomes clear that someone—or some fae—is masterminding violent attacks to discourage peace.

Author Wen Spencer is starting up a new series early next year, and the first book is called The Black Wolves of Boston. It has a release date of February 7th.

the black wolves of boston.jpgSilas Decker had his world destroyed when he was attacked by vampires outside of New Amsterdam. He rebuilt his life a dozen times in the last three hundred years—each time less and less successfully. Now he lives alone, buried under a hoarding habit, struggling to find some reason to wake up with the setting of the sun.

Seth is the sixteen-year old Prince of Boston, ward of the Wolf King.  Now he is left in a city that desperately needs his protection with enemies gathering all around.

Joshua believes he is a normal, college-bound high school senior.  His life is shattered when he wakes up in a field, covered with blood, and the prom committee scattered in pieces about him like broken dolls.

These four must now come together to unravel a plot by Wickers, witches who gain power from human sacrifices and have the power to turn any human into their puppet. Four people who lost everything struggle to save Boston by saving each other.

The second book from Bec McMaster‘s Dark Arts series will be called Hexbound, and it will be released this October 18th.

hexboundVerity Hastings has a little trick; she can find anything, no matter where it’s hidden. It’s a skill that’s kept her safe and fed all the way from the orphanages and workhouses of her youth. But when she steals a mysterious item for a masked man, she knows the con is on her this time.

In order to protect herself from his associates, she can turn to only one person: Adrian Bishop, the sorcerer she stole the relic from.

Scarred recluse, Adrian Bishop, is rarely surprised anymore. But when a rather enticing little handful turns up on his doorstep claiming to be his mysterious thief, he doesn’t know what to think. He needs the relic back, no matter the cost, and he’s not above using Verity to find it. But as Verity begins to sneak under his guard, for the first time in years there’s a ray of light in his dark world. He will do anything to protect her–anything–but can Verity ever love him once she learns the truth of his darkest secret?

And the final one for today comes from Gini Koch. Alien Nation is the 14th book of her Katherine “Kitty” Katt series, and it will be out on December 6th.

alien nation.jpgIt’s a typical day of bureaucracy and stress for President and First Lady Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, made more stressful when alien spacecraft are spotted making a beeline for Earth, none of them from the Alpha Centauri system…or, what Kitty calls Wednesday.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much here for me to get excited about, either in terms of how they look or how much I want to read them. Will you be picking any of these up?

Cover Lover – 7 New Titles

It seems like so long since I have put together a cover lover post…I think I was just waiting on a “big” one…and having Nalini Singh and Ilona Andrews in the same book definitely constitutes as big. They both are contributing stories to the Night Shift anthology, along with Lisa Shearin and Milla Vane (aka Meljean Brooks). Look for it on November 25th.

night shiftI picked up the first two books from Suzanne Johnson‘s Sentinels of New Orleans series dirt cheap from the Book Outlet a couple of weeks ago, and so I will be keeping an eye out for Pirate’s Alley when it is released next April.

pirates alleyUp next is Of Silk and Steam from Bec McMaster. It is part of her London Steampunk series, and it is due out on March 1st.

of silk and steamNancy Holzner continues her Deadtown series with the release of Firestorm, which is due out on March 31st.

firestormMarch 31st is also the release date for Sherrilyn Kenyon‘s next Chronicles of Nick book, Instinct.

instinctNext up is Aimee Carter‘s Captive, the second book from her Blackcoat Rebellion series. It is due out on November 25th.

captiveAnd the last one for today comes from Alexandra Bracken. In the Afterlight is the third and final book from her Darkest Minds trilogy, and it is due out on October 28th.

in the afterlightNot a bad bunch, at all. Of course, I am most excited to get my hands on a Psy/Changeling novella (featuring Bastien Smith) and a Kate Daniels novella (Jim and Dali), especially in the same book, but the rest aren’t bad, either.

New Release Dates…

For some reason (er, laziness? old age?) I had missed a few new releases for May. None of them were “biggies”, but there were some e-books that I added yesterday that might interest you. As for the other months…

  • the preorder links are up now for Jeaniene Frost‘s third Night Prince book, Bound by Flames. Look for it on January 27th.
  • March 1st is the release date for Bec McMaster‘s Of Silk and Steam.
  • March 1st is also the date for Vampires Never Cry Wolf from Sarah Humphreys. It is part of her Dead in the City series.
  • There will be an as-yet unnamed Lynsay Sands book coming our way on February 24th.
  • Originally, the next Chronicles of Nick from Sherrilyn Kenyon was listed as having the title Defiant, which totally broke with the “I” precedent. The new listing shows it as being called Instinct, still for release on March 31st.
  • Kristen Simmons‘ next book, The Glass Arrow, will be out on February 10th.
  • The third and final book from Jessica Brody‘s Unremembered series, Unchanged, is due out on February 24th.
  • Rosamund Hodge will follow-up her recent Cruel Beauty with another fairy tale retelling, this time focusing on Little Red Riding Hood. Crimson Bound is due out next year.

Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

Hard to believe how quiet things are around right now, must be all of the Christmas and end of the year stuff taking precedence right now. I just have three new covers for this post, the first one for the next Meljean Brook Iron Seas book, The Kraken King. It will be released in serial format over the course of next year, and then come out in print format towards the end of 2014.

This Week’s E-Reading Spotlight…

After a quiet weekend, it looks like I came up with a few e-books and novellas being released this week. I have a couple of them listed in the New Release pages, but the others I just came across today so I didn’t add them. Coming from Bec McMaster this week is a novella from her London Steampunk series, Tarnished Knight.

tarnished knightSynopsis…

After a vicious vampire attack left him struggling to leash the dark urges of the craving virus, John “Rip” Doolan thinks he’s finally starting to master the darkness within. The only thing that threatens to shatter his hard-won control is Esme, his closest friend and the only woman he’s ever wanted. If the stubborn beauty ever realized precisely what was going through his mind, their friendship would be ruined.

For six months, Esme has waited for Rip to recover and take her as his thrall, not daring to hope for more. Too afraid to put her heart on the line, she is devastated when Rip reveals that he never had any intentions of making her his.

But when a savage gang of Slashers start causing havoc in Whitechapel, Rip and Esme have no choice. They must face up to the depth of the passion that burns between them and forge a new relationship…or risk losing each other forever.

And from Virna DePaul comes A Vampire’s Salvation. From what I can tell this one falls on the more erotic side of things.

a vampire's salvationSynopsis…

Francesca Marie Stewart has never wanted any man as much as she wants Jake Rios. His chiseled body and dark, intensely masculine energy draw her like a moth to a flame. But Frankie has been burned before, and now a mysterious figure from her troubled past has resurfaced with a terrifying new threat. Can she trust Jake not only with her heart but with her very life?

Jake’s hunger to possess this beautiful redhead goes beyond searing desire. He’s a vampire, and his very existence depends on bonding with a mate. He aches to ravish Frankie, but he must take it slow—for what he will ask of her will require profound sacrifice even as it gives her unimaginable pleasure. And once he has claimed her—body and soul—Jake will go to any lengths to protect her.

Also new this week is Tempest from Kelly Meding. It is part of her MetaWars series.

tempestSynopsis…

The public doesn’t trust them. The government wants to control them. Being a superhero has never been this hard, especially for Tempest.

Two months after the discovery of the powerful, non-Meta Recombinants, the former Rangers—Meta-powered humans dedicated to preserving the peace—have made no progress in uncovering the newcomers’ origins, or convincing the public to trust them. Newly powered Metas are popping up and causing trouble, while the former Banes—Metas who harm humans and create chaos—show no inclination that they even want to leave the island prison of Manhattan. With a presidential election looming, the hot political debate is all about Meta rights—and whether they deserve to have any.

Still haunted by the murder of so many in the Meta War fifteen years earlier, Ethan “Tempest” Swift accepts an assignment in Manhattan, working with a team that’s interviewing Banes to determine which are still threats and which have reformed. But Ethan has a personal reason for going to the island as well. Armed with questions for the Bane who just might be his father, Ethan’s quest for answers is interrupted by an unexpected assault on the island. Forced to side with old enemies to uncover who’s responsible for the devastating attack, Ethan begins to question more than just his past—he questions his place in defending a world that sees him as its enemy.

Lindsey Piper starts her new Dragon Kings this week with the release of the prequel novella, Silent Warrior.

silent warriorSynopsis…

An exciting, emotionally charged prequel to “The Dragon Kings” trilogy, featuring warriors fighting for their lives in violent Cage matches to guarantee their clans’ survival.

A silent woman ashamed of her criminal background becomes a Cage warrior to seek redemption. An unrepentant fortune hunter chooses combat over death to appease a mafia family. Although rivals in battle, they find common ground when seeking their clan’s stolen idol, but for vastly different reasons. Neither one suspects that love will begin when he becomes the first man in five years to hear her speak.

I didn’t know that Entangled Publishing had created a new paranormal e-book line, but  it seems that the Covet Imprint gets its start this week. The first one comes from Kendra Leigh Castle, and it is called The Demon’s Song.

the demon's songSynopsis…

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. At least, that’s how it seems to Sofia Rivera when her attempt to help a friend ends in a blood-soaked confrontation with creatures that aren’t even supposed to exist. With a group of rogue vampires determined not to leave a single witness to their violence hot on her heels, Sofia finds herself saddled with an immortal bodyguard—Phenex, the fallen Angel of Song.

While the vampire king roots out the corruption threatening to take down his underworld kingdom, Sofia will have to deal with a fallen angel whose dark beauty is often at odds with his ornery nature. Slowly, Sofia and Phenex give in to the strange attraction neither can deny. And as the darkness closes in around them, Phenex begins to wonder whether even the wickedest Fallen might find his own happy ending…and his heart.

And the second book of Entangled: Covet’s new line is The Awakening: Aidan by Abby Niles.

the awakening aidanSynopsis…

Is the gift of eternal love a blessing or a curse?

After years of counseling grieving shifters, psychiatrist and half-shifter, Dr. Jaylin Avgar has become jaded on shifter mating. She wants to marry a human and forget about the love for eternity crap. Then she meets Aidan O’Connell, an infuriatingly laid back shifter who represents everything she doesn’t want. Yet, the more he pursues her, the more she craves a future with him. Only one thing stands in her way: death. Can she overcome her fear of losing Aidan to the one guarantee in life?

Millionaire consultant, Aidan O’Connell knows he’ll one day meet a woman who’ll awaken an unrelenting mating instinct. Unfortunately, that woman is Jaylin, who has no qualms about telling him that he and his so-called eternity can shove it. When she pushes him away, he takes a drastic step so she can no longer escape. The close proximity throws the instinct into overdrive. Can he control the need engrained in him until he’s certain she will reciprocate the bond, or will a moment of weakness doom him to hell on earth?

So, are any of these on your wish-list for this week? I was surprised to see the new Entangled line, especially since they seem to have so much trouble getting their print titles released on time, but maybe it is a step in the right direction.

Cover Lover – Mega Edition

Wow, there has been a ton of book covers released in the last few days, most of which I got from either Goodreads or Amazon.  This first one is Black City from Christina Henry, the fifth book in the Madeline Black series, which is due out on February 26th.

I forgot to up this one last cover lover post.  Demon Hunting in a Dive Bar is the third book in Lexi George‘s Demon series, due out next February.

This first young adult cover is from the popular Morganville Vampires series.  Rachel Caine will release Fall of Night on May 7th.

Devon Monk may be wrapping up her Allie Beckstrom series, but the Age of Steam series is still going strong.  Cold Copper will be out on July 2nd.

The third book of Lynn Viehl‘s Lords of the Darkyn series, Nightbound, will be released on May 7th.

M.J. Scott‘s Half Light City series continues on April 2nd with the release of the third book, Iron Kin.

Emerald Green is the title of the third and final book in Kerstin Gier‘s Edelstein Trilogy, which is due out sometime next year.

The next Arcadia Bell novel from Jenn Bennett is called Binding the Shadows, and it will be available on May 28th.

It looks like the upcoming anthology, Enthralled, will feature a story from Lora Leigh‘s Breeds series.  There are also stories from Alyssa Day, Meljean Brook, and Lucy Monroe.  Look for it on July 2nd.

The first book from Ann Aguirre‘s (writing as A.A. Aguirre) upcoming Apparatus Infernum series, Bronze Gods, now has a cover.  It will be released on April 30th.

It looks like there was a novella from the Sharie Kohler Moon Chasers series that I totally missed.  Darkest Temptation was released on October 30th.

Still going…Darkness Bred is the second book from Stella Cameron‘s Chimney Rock series, which should be available on May 28th.

Robin D. Owens will release the next book in her Celta Heartmates series, Heart Fortune, on August 6th.

This one is…pink.  Very pink.  Hearts of Shadow is the second book from Kira Brady‘s Deadglass series, which is due out on May 7th.

And finally, the cover has been released for the second book in Bec McMaster‘s London Steampunk series.  Heart of Iron will be out on May 7th.

There were a few more, but they haven’t really been put “out there” yet, so I am holding back a bit.  Which one or ones did you like from this batch?  Any that you can’t wait to get your hands on?
