Cover Lover – 9 New Titles

So, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of doing a recommendation section. It might take a while to work out, but it could be fun. I am going to get started on it maybe tonight, and then I will open it up for your favorites. I am thinking maybe a cover pic, a brief write up about what it is that makes the book great, and then a list of the rest of the books in the series. Or something like that.

On the cover front, there are a few new ones starting to make their way around. This first one is a Dark-Hunter short story collection from Sherrilyn Kenyon called Dark Bites. It is due out on January 21st.

dark bitesI had thought that the Shadowfae Chronicles series from Erica Hayes was complete, but it looks like there will be at least one more story. Demon Chained will be released in e-format on September 18th.

demon chainedAnd another series that seems to be getting a second life is the Gregori Legacy from Linda Poitevin. Sins of the Lost is due out on October 15th, also in e-format.

sins of the lostLabyrinth of Stars from Marjorie M. Liu was due out last year, but this latest Hunter Kiss book is now due out on February 25th.

labyrinth of starsJacquelyn Frank also writes under the name Jax, and it is under that name that she will re-release Hunter (previously an e-book release) on February 4th.

hunterI was starting wonder on the state of Shannon K. Butcher‘s Sentinel Wars series, since there hasn’t been much news for the last few months. But it looks like the next title will be Willing Sacrifice, and it will be released on March 4th. By the title, it really should be Torh and Grace. Hopefully.

willing sacrifice

There is another Argeneau Rogue Hunter book by Lynsay Sands coming out on February 28th, and it is called Vampire Most Wanted.

vampire most wantedAlmost there. I love the pinky-purple colors on Cole’s Redemption, which is the next book in J.D. Tyler‘s Alpha Pack series. It is due out on March 4th.

dark loverWhat is your take on these? I like the Dark Lover cover – it would’ve been great if this had been the hardcover design. I am most excited for Willing Sacrifice, and even though I am a couple of books behind in this series it is one that I always enjoy.

Cover Lover – 7 New Titles

I have been a good girl and doing the updating, and on my quest I have found a couple of new covers over at Goodreads and Amazon.  J.A. London‘s third Darkness Before Dawn book, After Daybreak, will be released on June 25th.

Another one from the young adult isle is Shutdown from Heather Anastasiu.  This is the third book of the Glitch series, due out on July 2nd.

The hardcover re-releasing of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series from J.R. Ward continues on.  This time around it is book four, Lover Revealed.  Look for it on July 2nd.  I like the fact that they kept the same feel for the re-releases, the same art and colors.  I would not have been impressed if there had been a redo, since I do love everything to line up.

The Chicagoland Vampires series from Chloe Neill have great covers, and this next one is no exception.  Biting Bad, book number eight in the series, is due out on August 6th.

Alexandra Ivy, Nina Bangs, Dianne Duvall, and Hannah Jayne will release an anthology, Predatory, next May 7th.  I do know that in this one Alexandra starts her new Sentinels series, and Dianne continues her Immortal Guardians stories.  Sounds good.

Now, I was not kind about the cover of the first book in the Seven Signs series from Erica Hayes.  Dude had some sort of belly shirt…chain mail…thing…going on, and it was not a good look.  I can handle the Redemption cover a bit better, even though I can’t quite tell what he is wearing.  Except that it looks like it is made of human skin.  Aaand it is still better than the first book.  Look for Redemption on March 5th.

And the final one for today is from Kat Richardson‘s Greywalker series.  Possession is due out on August 6th.

New Series Alert…

That time again.  This is a big week for some much anticipated new series…and it looks like one of those weeks where you get too many books in to know where to start reading.  Terry Spear starts a new Jaguar shifter series this week with the release of Savage Hunger.  It is nice to see her branching out from her wolf shifter series.

In the heat of the jungle, jaguars are clawed, dangerous, and hungry for love. With hopes of overcoming night terrors and thanking the man who saved her life, Kathleen McKnight returns to the Amazon. A jaguar at heart, Connor Anderson doesn’t just protect her, but wants to claim her for his own.

The Jaguar Series reading list is HERE.

This second one comes from Jacqueline Carey and is called Dark Currents.  It is book one of the Agent of Hel series.

Dark Currents is set in a small Midwestern resort town where paranormal tourism is a booming business. Daisy Johanssen, an incubus’ daughter raised by a loving single mom, is the liaison between the eldritch community and mundane authorities.

Most of the time that doesn’t entail anything more challenging than retrieving stolen goods from a puckish pickpocket or tracking down a tourist led astray by a will-o’-the-wisp, but when a young man drowns in an apparent accident that’s not what it seems, Daisy’s job turns deadly earnest.

Agent of Hel reading list is HERE.

This one takes the award for most disturbing cover-model outfit on a male.  Lord, I still keep staring at that shirt…thing.  Anyways, Revelation is the first book of The Seven Signs series from Erica Hayes.

Blind faith is for fools. That’s what Dr. Morgan Sterling believes. And she’s going to prove it by curing the zombie plague ravaging her city’s slums. She’s certain it’s not a sign of the End of Days, but a nasty disease — until an angel appears in her morgue in a flash of glory.

Luniel is not just a fallen angel. He’s a powerful warrior sworn to fight evil in hopes of a chance at redemption. He’s after the demon princes who are stealing the seven vials of holy wrath which, when perverted, will unleash eternal hell on earth.

To stop the plague, Luniel needs Morgan’s help, and her faith. But Morgan believes science is their salvation. If the zombie plague is a demonic curse — and if Luniel is true — he’ll have to prove it. Even if he loses his heart to true love or his soul to Hell…

The Seven Signs reading list is HERE.

Oddly enough, both books one and two of the Sunwalker Saga are being released this week.  Previously released in e-format, Shia MacLeod‘s Kissed by Darkness and Kissed by Fire make their print debuts tomorrow.

Danger is always on the menu for Morgan Bailey, a sexy and street-smart bounty hunter, who prowls the dark underworld of Portland, Oregon hunting creatures of the night. Morgan’s never met a vampire she couldn’t dust or a demon she couldn’t kill until she’s hired to destroy a new kind of mystical threat: the Sunwalker.

A powerful immortal once believed myth, the Sunwalker carries with him an ancient secret which, if left unchecked, will destroy Morgan’s world. Pursued by a passionate Templar Knight and the target of the local vampire clans, an ancient power is awakened within her, unlike anything she’s ever known. Morgan must uncover the truth behind her mission and about herself, before the Darkness lurking inside swallows her whole.

The Sunwalker Saga reading list is HERE.

There are a couple of new Young Adults hitting the shelves, as well.  First off is the much anticipated (by me, anyways) Poison Princess, the first book of the Arcana Chronicles series by Kresley Cole.

Poison Princess centers on 16-year-old Evangeline “Evie” Greene, a privileged teenager from Louisiana. When an apocalyptic event decimates her hometown, killing everyone she loves, Evie realizes the hallucinations she’d been having for the past year were actually visions of the future — and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux. As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophecy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of teens have been chosen to re-enact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side.

The Arcana Chronicles page is HERE.

I loved the cover for this one right from the start.  Sarah Crossan‘s Breathe, the first book of the Breathe series, will be released tomorrow.

Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe . . .

The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen-rich air.

has been stealing for a long time. She’s a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she’s never been caught before. If she’s careful, it’ll be easy. If she’s careful.

should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it’s also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn’t every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.

wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they’d planned a trip together, the two of them, and she’d hoped he’d discover her out here, not another girl.

And as they walk into the Outlands with two days’ worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to?

The Breathe reading list is HERE.

And finally, this last one comes from Darynda Jones.  The popular author of the Charley Davidson series is branching out to young adult with the release of Death and the Girl Next Door.  It is the first book of the Darklight series.

Things get turned upside down for sophomore Lorelei MacAlister when the Angel of Death starts high school in her small town. What she doesn’t know is that she has been slated to die. It’s simply her time. And Death has been sent to do the deed. But when he touches her, when he peers into her eyes and reaches into her heart, he realizes she is more than what he was led to believe, and he disobeys his orders. He brings her back from the brink of death when he was supposed to push her into it. Because of this, he gets trapped on this plane. And that’s when all hell breaks loose. Literally.

The Darklight reading list can be found HERE.

Ok.  Is everyone going to be as busy as me trying to cram in all of the new books this week?  I just got last week’s load, so I am in book horder heaven.  Or hell, depending on how you look at it.

This and That

There were no new series starting up this week, so there went yesterday’s usual post, and there is nothing that I must have coming out today so there goes the pick of the week post (although the mass market paperback release of Kresley Cole‘s Lothaire almost made it, since it has the first three chapters of Shadow’s Claim).  So, still updating the author pages, and working on getting everything up to date by tomorrow.  A few more little bits of info have come my way, so here goes…

  • Next week’s Jeaniene Frost Night Prince story, Once Burned, will be getting its sequel next March 19th.  I expected a new Cat and Bones book, but it looks like Twice Tempted will be Vlad and Leila’s story.
  • Gena Showalter is just starting to write her second Angels of the Dark book.  This one will be called Beauty Awakened, and it should be released next Spring.
  • Looks like Divergent #3 from Veronica Roth now has a name.  I was trying to guess this one, and Convergent was one of the ones I came up with.  This will be released sometime next year.
  • Eileen Rendahl‘s third Messenger book, Dead Letter Day, will be coming out on February 26th.
  • Mind Games (the first book of the series of the same name) from Keirsten White, will be released on February 19th.  I will be upping the cover in the next post.
  • March 5th is the new release date for Redemption, the second book of Erica Hayes‘ The Seven Signs series.  I do so hope they do a better job on the second cover than they did on the first…the dude’s belly shirt was over the top.
  • and Jessica Brody‘s Unremembered, about a gifted girl with no memory of her past, will be released on March 5th.

Cover Lover – 11 New Titles

As I said in my last post, there were a couple of covers I came across on my latest updating spree, both for young adult and adult titles.  Some are new, some are just new to me.  The first one is from Sandra Hill and her Deadly Angels series.  Book two, Kiss of Surrender, will be released on September 25th.

Melissa de la Cruz continues her Witches of East End series on June 12th with the release of book two, Serpent’s Kiss.

Starling, the first book of the upcoming Starling series from Lesley Livingston, will be released in hardcover on August 28th.

Next up is Sweet Shadows, the second book in Tera Lynn Childs‘ Medusa Girls series.  This one is due out on September 4th.

The Shadow Shifters series from A.C. Arthur continues with the release of Seduction’s Shift on September 25th.

Amanda Ashley upped the cover for her upcoming release, Desire the Night.  This one is due out on September 1st.

This is one I haven’t heard of before, but author Karen Mahoney will be releasing Falling to Ash, from the Moth series, on August 30th.

I like this one…very eye catching.  Black City is the first book from the Black City Chronicles from Elizabeth Richards, due out on November 13th.

Kept is the next one from Shawntelle Madison, a sequel to Coveted.  This one is due out on November 27th.

Almost done.  This one is from Heather Burch and her Halflings series.  Guardian is due out this October.

The last one from this batch is one I have seen before.  Man, not sure on the dude’s outfit – at all.  Revelation is the first book in a new series from Erica Hayes, due out on October 2nd.

New Release Dates

  • and the next Jane Yellowrock novel, from author Faith Hunter, will be called Death’s Rival.  Look for it on October 2nd.

Only a couple of little changes to the site this go round.

  • First off, the Elder Races Character Guide has been updated to include the recently released e-book, True Colors, from author Thea Harrison.
  • Since we have officially rung in 2012, I deleted all of the monthly new release pages for 2011.  However, I did leave the yearly summary alone, just in case anyone needs a reference.  We probably don’t need that one, either, but I figure it won’t hurt.  The 2013 monthly release pages will be done up over the coming months.
  • The Author and Series reading lists are being worked on a bit at a time.  I believe I am now done through the I – J page.

And I have been updating the new release pages, as well.  These are some that I have added…

  • 2013 will see the release of the fourth Dark Angels book from Keri Arthur, this one called Darkness Hunts.
  • Yasmine Galenorn is going to be busy.  There are no official release dates, as yet, but books 4 and5 of the Indigo Court series will be called Night Vision and Night’s End, respectively.  On the Otherworld side of things, number 13 will be called Haunted Moon, and it will be followed by Autumn Whispers and Crimson Veil.
  • A new series from Kami Garcia will also be getting a start in 2013.  Unbreakable is the first book of the Legion series – and the movie rights have already been sold.  It will be followed by Unbound in 2014.
  • Erica Hayes will also start up a new series at the end of 2012.  Revelation is the first book of the Seven Signs series, and it will be followed by Redemption in 2013.
  • The second book of Meg Cabot‘s Abandon series, Underworld, will be released on May 8th.
  • The second book of Kimberly Frost‘s Etherlin series, All that Falls, is due out on June 5th.
  • I was so excited to add this one, even though word came out a while ago.  September will see the release of the fifth Guild Hunter book from Nalini SinghArchangel’s Storm will feature spymaster Jason.
  • March 6th will see the release of another Geared for Pleasure, the first book in the new Elemental Steam Steampunk series from Rachel Grace.
  • and Melissa de la Cruz‘s second Beauchamp Family book, Serpent’s Kiss, is going to be released on June 12th.

Odds and Ends

Been a bit of a busy week heading into Christmas, with lots of new covers coming out, along with a bit of info…

  • There will be not one, but two sequels for Stephenie Meyer‘s The Host.  Both The Soul and The Seeker are scheduled for release sometime in 2012.
  • From Barb Hendee will be Ghosts of Memories, book number five in her Vampire Memories series.  It is a late 2011 release.
  • The Corinne Solomon series from Ann Aguirre will continue in 2012 with Devil’s Punch, book number4.  It will be followed by Bloody Maria in April 2013.

  • Rachel Caine also starts a new series next August.  Her book Working Stiff will be the first in her Revivalist series.  And it looks like the fourth book in her Outcast Season series, Unbroken, will have a release date in February 2012.
  • Blood Cursed is the fourth book in Erica Hayes Shadowfae Chronicles, now scheduled for next August 2nd.
  • There is a bit of a change in the fifth book of Seanan McGuire‘s October Daye series.  The title has been changed from The Brightest Fell to One Salt Sea.  Following that will be the September 2012 release of Ashes of Honor, and The Chimes at Midnight a year after that.

Cover Lover – Poison Kissed

The third book of Erica Hayes‘ The Shadowfae Chronicles will be coming out on September 28th, 2010.  Called Poison Kissed, it follows Shadowfae and Shadowglass.  I did think the cover was quite eye-catching, even if there isn’t the word “Shadow” in the title like I expected (and a total change in the cover art theme)…

The cover blurb sounds interesting…

Beyond the veil of magic, a fairy otherworld pulses with glamour and dark beauty… It’s a place where passions run deep and dark — and death is just one kiss away…

Mina is a banshee whose greatest power lies in her siren song. She’s beholden to her boss Joey, a snake-shifter who once saved her life and now employs her as a gang enforcer. She refuses to upset the fragile balance between them by admitting that she longs for him, that his embrace is the only thing she craves more than revenge for her mother’s death…

When Mina learns that Joey may have been involved in her mother’s murder, fury threatens to spill out of her, note by vicious note. She and Joey have always trusted each other to stay alive, but now she’s not sure what to believe. The evidence stacked against him — or the one man who haunts her dreams and burns in her blood…
