Cover Lover – 6 New Titles

After more than a few lackluster cover lover posts over the last little while, I find myself quite liking most of the ones I dug up this go round. I have six, starting with one from Christine Feehan. Bound Together is the last book in the Sisters of the Heart series – and probably the beginning of the next cycle of books to be set in Sea Haven. This one comes out on March 21st.

bound-togetherThe Sea Haven series comes to a climactic end as the mysterious man from Blythe Daniels’ past re-enters her life in a dramatic way. Viktor Prakenskii had always intended to come for Blythe after his work undercover was at an end, but with a dangerous enemy heading towards Sea Haven, he knows he cannot wait any longer or he will jeopardize the woman he loves. His arrival sets off an explosive chain of events, and everyone in the small community of Sea Haven, including the Drake family, will never be the same.

Next up is the prequel/continuation of Kim Harrison‘s Hollows series, The Turn. This one has a release date of January 21st.

the-turnCan science save us when all else fails?

Trisk and her hated rival, Kalamack, have the same goal: save their species from extinction.

Death comes in the guise of hope when a genetically modified tomato created to feed the world combines with the government’s new tactical virus, giving it an unexpected host and a mode of transport. Plague takes the world, giving the paranormal species an uncomfortable choice to stay hidden and allow humanity to die, or to show themselves in a bid to save them.

Under accusations of scientific misconduct, Trisk and Kal flee across a plague torn United States to convince leaders of the major paranormal species to save their supposedly weaker kin, but not everyone thinks humanity should be saved.

Kal surreptitiously works against her as Trisk fights the prejudices of two societies to prove that not only does humanity have something to offer, but that long-accepted beliefs against women, dark magic, and humanity itself can turn to understanding; that when people are at their worst that the best show their true strength, and that love can hold the world together as a new balance is found.

These next two are both from Rebecca Zanetti and her Scorpius Syndrome series. Scorpius Rising is a prequel novella which is due out on November 29th.

scorpius-risingWith a deadly disease spreading like wildfire across the country, microbiologist Nora Medina needs to focus all her energy on stopping the pandemic. Playing with dynamite—in the form of her way-too-hot ex—is the last thing she should be doing. But forced to work with Deacan McDougall against unexpected enemies with the seconds ticking by, she knows the explosion is coming…

And Justice Ascending is the third full book in the series, and it will hit the shelves on January 31st.

justice-ascendingBefore surviving the Scorpius bacterium, Tace Justice was a good ole Texas cowboy who served his country and loved his mama. After Scorpius, the world became dark, dangerous, and deadly… and so did he. The Vanguard medic is stronger, faster, and smarter than before, but he’s lost the line between right and wrong. His passion is absolute, and when he focuses it on one woman, there’s no turning back for either of them.

Sami Steel has been fighting to survive right alongside Tace, convincing the Vanguard soldiers she’s one of them. In truth, Sami is a former hacker turned government agent who worked at The Bunker, where scientists stored both contaminants and cures. Only she knows the location, and she’s not telling. Yet when sexual fire explodes between her and Tace, she’ll face even that hell again to save him.

These last two are both young adult, starting with the third book in Caragh M. O’Brien‘s Vault of Dreamers series. The Keep of Ages has a release date of July 11th.

the-keep-of-ages

And wrapping things up for today is Seeker, the second book of the Riders duology from Veronica Rossi. It will be hitting the shelves on May 16th.

seeker

Well, the Sea Haven books from Christine Feehan are pretty much my favorites from all her series now, since they for me have been the only ones that haven’t seen a change in writing tone. Here’s hoping that doesn’t change. And is it weird that I totally thought The Turn was a young adult book by looking at the cover? I am going to have to go and take a peek at the other books in the series to see how this one stacks up.

Which of these are on your auto-buy list?

Cover Lover – 6 New Titles

Well, when I went through the covers I had gathered up for a cover lover post, I realized I had a few too many to do all at once. So maybe today I will do the adult covers, and the young adult tomorrow. Or something like that. Here goes…

This first one is from Nalini Singh‘s Rock Kiss series. Rock Wedding is the fourth book of the series, and it is due out on July 19th.

rock weddingAfter a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she’d finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn’t love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of their divorce.

Abe knows he’s to blame for the end of his marriage. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life – the sexy, smart woman he adores – breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe desperately wants that second chance at love…even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it.

But can he convince Sarah – now strong and independent without him – to risk her wounded heart one more time?

Sherrilyn Kenyon‘s Until Death Do We Part, a Dark-Hunter novella previously released in the Love at First Bite anthology, will be out in e-format on July 5th.

until death do we partThe only thing worse than being Dracula’s only daughter is falling in love with his bitterest enemy– a dark sorcerer warlord whose powers make a mockery of the legendary monster known for impalement and massacre. Forced to flee her father’s wrath over her secret marriage, Esperetta willing to sacrifice anything for Velkan Danesti, until she learns that he’s tied their immortal souls together without her permission– a lesson she doesn’t learn until after her father kills them and her husband sells both their souls to a Greek goddess and makes them eternal Dark-Hunters sworn to protect mankind from the demons who prey on them.

Now after living centuries apart, they must come together to fight an old enemy– that is if Retta doesn’t kill Velkan first.

This next one is also a re-do of a previously released Sherrilyn Kenyon story, but this time it is Sins of the Night, which will be re-released in hardcover on November 29th.

sons of the knightHarm no human. Drink no blood. Never fall in love.

But every now and again a Dark-Hunter thinks himself above the Code. That’s when I’m summoned. Who am I? I’m the one thing the fearless fear. Step over the line, and it’s my wrath you will face. Nothing can touch me. Nothing can sway me. I am relentless and unfeeling.

Or so I thought until I met a Dark-Hunter who goes by the name of Danger—it’s not just her name, it’s how she lives her life. She doesn’t trust me at all. And who could blame her? I’m here to be judge, jury, and the executioner of her friends. Yet she is my key to saving some of them. Without her, they will all die.

But as we try to save them, Dangereuse St. Richard is a deadly distraction. Something about her is reawakening feelings I’m not supposed to have. Especially compassion, which is a deadly emotion in a race against evil.

The only hope mankind has is that I do my duty. And yet how can I do my duty when it means that I will have to sacrifice the only woman I’ve ever loved?

I might only be on book 7, but I am hooked on J.D. Robb‘s In Death series. #44 will be called Echoes in Death, and it has a release date of February 2nd.

echoes in deathAfter a party in New York, Lieutenant Eve Dallas rides home with her billionaire husband, Roarke, happy to be done with cocktails and small talk.

After another party, not far away, a woman retires to her bedroom with her husband—and walks into a brutal nightmare.

Their paths are about to collide…

When the young woman—dazed, naked, and bloody—wanders in front of their car, Roarke slams on the brakes just in time, and Eve, still in glittering gown and heels, springs into action. It’s been a long night for the tired homicide cop, and it’s far from over.

Daphne Strazza is rushed to the ER, but it’s too late for Dr. Anthony Strazza. A brilliant orthopedic surgeon, he now lies dead amid the wreckage of his obsessively organized town house, his three safes opened and emptied. Daphne would be a valuable witness, but in her terror and shock the only description of the perp she can offer is repeatedly calling him “the devil” . . .

While it emerges that Dr. Strazza was cold, controlling, and widely disliked—and that he treated Daphne like a trophy wife—this is one case where the evidence doesn’t point to the spouse as the first suspect. So Eve and her team must get started on the legwork, interviewing everyone from dinner-party guests to professional colleagues to caterers, in a desperate race to answer some crucial questions:

What does the devil look like? And where will he show up next?

This next one is from author Sandra Hill. Good Vampires Go To Heaven is from her Deadly Angels series, and it will be out on November 29th.

good vampires go to heavenWHEN HE WAS BAD . . .

Two-thousand-year-old vampire demon Zeb is supposed to spend eternity turning mortal sinners into bad guy Lucipires like himself. That way, they can grow their numbers and fight the vampire angels known as Vangels. But Zeb is a bad boy in a good way—secretly working as a double agent for none other than St. Michael the Archangel in hopes of one day earning his wings. Problem is, Zeb’s betrayal is discovered.

Hello, demon dungeon.

HE WAS VERY BAD . . .

Until Regina, a foxy, flame-haired Vangel witch on a rescue mission, busts out Zeb, along with three oddball Lucipire witches. Hello, temptation!

BUT TOGETHER THEY WERE VERY GOOD . . . !

Their escape unleashes a war to defeat all Vangels forevermore. In an epic madcap battle between good and evil, a Demon just might earn his wings . . . and spend eternity with the Vangel of his wildest dreams.

And wrapping up this batch is Rebecca Zanetti‘s Deadly Silence, which is the first book of her new Blood Brothers series. Look for it on October 4th.

deadly silence

There you have it. Which of these are on your must-read lists? I will be picking up Rock Wedding for sure, even though the though of Abe’s story doesn’t really grab me. Who am I kidding? I was that way about Noah’s book, too, and ended up loving it. I am way behind on the In Death books, so this one won’t be on my radar for a while, and I haven’t even touched Kenyon yet. Sigh. So little time…

Cover Lover – 7 New Titles

This batch of cover is a bit of a mixed bag, ranging from decent to just plain awkward. Let’s start things off with a Nora Roberts release. Bay of Sighs is the second book of the Guardians Trilogy, and it will be out on June 14th.

Untitled-32.inddMermaid Annika is from the sea, and it is there she must return after her quest to find the stars. New to this world, her purity and beauty are nothing less than breathtaking, along with her graceful athleticism, as her five new friends discovered when they retrieved the fire star.

Now, through space and time, traveler Sawyer King has brought the guardians to the island of Capri, where the water star is hidden. And as he watches Annika in her element, he finds himself drawn to her joyful spirit. But Sawyer knows that if he allows her into his heart, no compass could ever guide him back to solid ground…

And in the darkness, their enemy broods. She lost one star to the guardians, but there is still time for blood to be spilled—the mermaid’s in the water and the traveler’s on the land. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon. Something deadly and unpredictable. Something human.

Like a River Glorious is the second book of the Gold Seer Trilogy from Rae Carson, and it has a release date of September 27th.

like a river gloriousAfter a harrowing journey across the country, Leah Westfall and her friends have finally arrived in California and are ready to make their fortunes in the Gold Rush. Lee has a special advantage over the other new arrivals in California—she has the ability to sense gold, a secret known only by her handsome best friend Jefferson and her murdering uncle Hiram.

Lee and her friends have the chance to be the most prosperous settlers in California, but Hiram hasn’t given up trying to control Lee and her power. Sabotage and kidnapping are the least of what he’ll do to make sure Lee is his own. His mine is the deepest and darkest in the territory, and there Lee learns the full extent of her magical gift, the worst of her uncle, and the true strength of her friendships. To save everyone, she vows to destroy her uncle and the empire he is building—even at the cost of her own freedom.

This next one is from Terry Spear. Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing is due out on July 5th.

billionaire in wolf's clothing

Shadow Falling is the next one from Rebecca Zanetti, and it has a release date of August 30th.

shadow fallingBefore the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne Kennedy was the FBI’s best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her skills as a hunter of men had gone from merely brilliant to full-on uncanny. Her mysterious rescuer wants her to put them to the test. But no matter how tempting he is, with his angel’s eyes and devil’s tongue, Vinnie knows she shouldn’t trust him.

If the FBI were still around they would rate Raze Shadow as one of the bad guys. His military training can’t wipe out his association with the Mercenaries, the most feared gang in a thousand miles. His loyalties are compromised. He won’t even tell Vinnie his real name. But there’s no FBI in the new America of fear and firepower, only instinct and risk. And the way his arms wrap around her tells its own story. Whatever else Raze is concealing, he can’t hide his desire.

Now we move into the young adult books. Metaltown is a new one from Kristen Simmons, and I do believe it is a stand-alone. It has a release date of Septmeber 20th.

metaltownThe rules of Metaltown are simple: Work hard, keep your head down, and watch your back. You look out for number one, and no one knows that better than Ty. She’s been surviving on the factory line as long as she can remember. But now Ty has Colin. She’s no longer alone; it’s the two of them against the world. That’s something even a town this brutal can’t take away from her. Until it does.

Lena’s future depends on her family’s factory, a beast that demands a ruthless master, and Lena is prepared to be as ruthless as it takes if it means finally proving herself to her father. But when a chance encounter with Colin, a dreamer despite his circumstances, exposes Lena to the consequences of her actions, she’ll risk everything to do what’s right.

In Lena, Ty sees an heiress with a chip on her shoulder. Colin sees something more. In a world of disease and war, tragedy and betrayal, allies and enemies, all three of them must learn that challenging what they thought was true can change all the rules.

A Million Worlds Without You is the next one from Claudia Gray, and it is the third book of her Firebird series. Look for it on November 1st.

a million worlds with youA million universes. A million dangers. One destiny.

The fate of the multiverse rests in Marguerite Caine’s hands. Marguerite has been at the center of a cross-dimensional feud since she first traveled to another universe using her parents’ invention, the Firebird. Only now has she learned the true plans of the evil Triad Corporation—and that those plans could spell doom for dozens or hundreds of universes, each facing total annihilation.

Paul Markov has always been at Marguerite’s side, but Triad’s last attack has left him a changed man—angry and shadowed by tragedy. He struggles to overcome the damage done to him, but despite Marguerite’s efforts to help, Paul may never be the same again.

So it’s up to Marguerite alone to stop the destruction of the multiverse. Billions of lives are at stake. The risks have never been higher. And Triad has unleashed its ultimate weapon: another dimension’s Marguerite—wicked, psychologically twisted, and always one step ahead.

Yep, this is the last one. Sea Spell is from author Jennifer Donnelly, and it is the 4th book in her Waterfire Saga. Look for it on June 14th.

sea spell

I have to say, I do really like the covers in the Claudia Gray series, and while Bay of Sighs is nothing like the cover of the first book in the series, I like it, too. Metaltown is eye-catching, I think. Any favorites out of this batch? Anything you plan on picking up?

New Series Alerts…

Just one new series to take a peek at this week, coming from author Rebecca Zanetti. Her new series is called The Scorpius Syndrome, and the first book is Mercury Striking.

mercury risingSynopsis…

With nothing but rumors to lead her, Lynn Harmony has trekked across a nightmare landscape to find one man—a mysterious, damaged legend who protects the weak and leads the strong. He’s more than muscle and firepower—and in post-plague L.A., he’s her only hope. As the one woman who could cure the disease, Lynn is the single most volatile—and vulnerable—creature in this new and ruthless world. But face to face with Jax Mercury…

Danger has never looked quite so delicious…

There is a prequel novella which was released in the On The Hunt anthology. The short story is called Scorpius Rising, and while it is not necessarily to read it first, apparently it does help to set up this new world. I actually have the anthology, so I just might have to check this one out.

Cover Lover – 8 New Titles

For the second time in a week, instead of making a new post, I have made a new page. Duh. Anyways, it is time for a quick little cover lover post, starting with one that will be released this November 15th. Christian is the 10th book in the Vampires in America series from D.B. Reynolds.

christianTexas . . . the heart of a territory that stretches from the golden deserts of New Mexico to the turquoise shores of the Florida Keys. It’s big, it’s rich, and it’s the next battleground for some of the most dangerous vampires in the world.

But with old enemies and new fighting to stop him, victory suddenly takes on a brutal, and far more treacherous, edge. Because what one of his enemies wants more than anything else already belongs to Christian . . . and her name is Natalie.

Natalie Vivant Gaudet . . . brilliant and lovely, a strong Southern woman who can unravel the most intricate financial schemes designed to swindle and steal. She loves her complex job and the simplicity of her life. And then she meets Christian. He’s beautiful, he’s complicated, and she’ll fight to keep him alive.

With allies trying to kill him, and enemies readying a horde of zombie vampires to roll over all of Texas, it will take every shred of Christian’s power and Natalie’s determination to win this war and give North America a brand new Lord of the South.

This next one is from Lilith Saintcrow. Roadside Magic is the second book of the Gallow and Ragged series, and it is due out on January 26th.

roadside magicThe Seelie and unSeelie Courts are both in plague-ravaged tatters. The Wild Hunt roams unchecked, taking who and what it will, and the walls between the human world and the world of the sidhe are thinning rapidly. Gallow is the only hope of human and sidhe both.

Wicked Burn is the third book of Rebecca Zanetti‘s Realm Enforcer’s series, and it is due out on June 7th.

wicked burnForevermore is the next book of Kristen Callihan‘s Darkest London series, and it is due out on June 28th.

So St. John resolves to keep his distance, until he is recruited by the Society for the Suppression of Supernaturals to guard Layla. That wraps up the adult books, and leads us to the young adult covers. Starting things off is The Vanishing Throne from Elizabeth May, which is the second book of the Falconer Trilogy. It is due out on June 7th.

Vanishing Throne_final front cover.pdfAileana Kameron, the Falconer, disappeared through the portal that she was trying to close forever. Now she wakes up in the fae world, trapped and tortured by the evil Lonnrach. With the help of an unexpected ally, Aileana re-enters the human world, only to find everything irrevocably changed. Edinburgh has been destroyed, and the few human survivors are living in an uneasy truce with the fae, while both worlds are in danger of disappearing altogether. Aileana holds the key to saving both worlds, but in order to do so she must awaken her latent Falconer powers. And the price of doing that might be her life.

Victoria Schwab starts a new series called Monsters of Verity next year. The first book is called This Savage Song, and it is due out on June 7th.

this savage songThe city of Verity has been overrun with monsters, born from the worst of human evil. In North Verity, the Corsai and the Malchai run free. Under the rule of Callum Harker, the monsters kill any human who has not paid for protection. In the South, Henry Flynn hunts the monsters who cross the border into his territory, aided by the most dangerous and darkest monsters of them all—the Sunai, dark creatures who use music to steal their victim’s souls.

As one of only three Sunai in existence, August Flynn has always wanted to play a bigger role in the war between the north and the south. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate Harker, daughter of the leader of North Verity, August jumps on it. When Kate discovers August’s secret, the pair find themselves running for their lives and battling monsters from both sides of the wall. As the city dissolves into chaos, it’s up to them to foster a peace between monsters and humans.

A unique, fast-paced adventure that looks at the monsters we face every day—including the monster within.

Heir to the Sky is a new book from Amanda Sun, and it has a release date of April 26th.

heir to the skyAs heir to a kingdom of floating continents, Kali has spent her life bound by limits—by her duties as a member of the royal family; by a forced betrothal to the son of a nobleman; and by the edge of the only world she’s ever known—a small island hovering above a monster-ridden earth, long since uninhabited by humans. She is the Eternal Flame of Hope for what’s left of mankind, the wick and the wax burning in service for her people, and for their revered Phoenix, whose magic keeps them aloft.

When Kali falls off the edge of her kingdom and miraculously survives, she is shocked to discover there are still humans on the earth. Determined to get home, Kali entrusts a rugged monster-hunter named Griffin to guide her across a world overrun by chimera, storm dragons, basilisks, and other terrifying beasts. But the more time she spends on earth, the more dark truths she begins to uncover about her home in the sky, and the more resolute she is to start burning for herself.

And the final one for today is from Mary E. Pearson. The Beauty of Darkness is part of the Remnant Chronicles, and it is due out next August 2nd.

the beauty of darknessSo, which of these will you be picking up? I have plans try the Darkest London books one day, and there are a couple of others that look interesting.

New Series Alerts…

As we head into the end of June, it is time to take a peek at the new series starting up this week. Things get started with Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow, which is the first book of the Gallow and Ragged series.

trailer park faeSynopsis…

Jeremy Gallow is just another construction worker, and that’s the way he likes it. He’s left his past behind, but some things cannot be erased. Like the tattoos on his arms that transform into a weapon, or that he was once closer to the Queen of Summer than any half-human should be. Now the half-sidhe all in Summer once feared is dragged back into the world of enchantment, danger, and fickle fae – by a woman who looks uncannily like his dead wife. Her name is Robin, and her secrets are more than enough to get them both killed. A plague has come, the fullborn-fae are dying, and the dark answer to Summer’s Court is breaking loose.

Be afraid, for Unwinter is riding…

And the second one is from Rebecca Zanetti. Wicked Ride is the first book of the Realm Enforcers series.

wicked rideSynopsis…

Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.

Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks…

Are you checking either of these out? Have you tried anything from either of these authors before?

Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning has some epic covers (except for that one cheesy misstep, Burned), and this one is no exception. Actually, it was the covers that drew me in in the first place, and this one is a beauty, too. It has a different vibe than the previous ones, but it is pretty. Feverborn is due out on January 19th.

feverbornJenna Black has a new young adult release coming out next April called Nightstruck. I have to admit, I am tempted by the pretty cover on this one.

New Series Alerts…

I imagine most of us are thinking more about the end of a couple of popular series, what with this being the release week of the final Night Huntress book from Jeaniene Frost and the final Blud book from Delilah S. Dawson, but there are a few new ones heading our way to make up for it. Anna Richland starts a new e-book series today called Immortal Vikings, and the first book is called First to Burn.

first to burnSynopsis…

A soldier with secrets

Immortal Viking Wulf Wardsen once battled alongside Beowulf, and now serves in Afghanistan. He’s trusted the mortal men on his elite special operations team to protect his secret, until an explosion lands Wulf in a place more dangerous to him than a battlefield: a medevac helicopter.

A doctor with questions

Army captain Theresa Chiesa follows the rules and expects the same from others, even special forces hotshots like Sergeant Wardsen. She’s determined to discover the secret behind his supernaturally fast healing, and she won’t allow his sexy smile to distract her.

An enemy with nothing to lose

Even as Theresa’s investigation threatens to expose him, Wulf is stirred by her passion. Dreaming of love and a normal life, he wants nothing more than to build a future with her. But the lost Viking relic needed to reverse his immortality is being hunted by another—an ancient enemy who won’t hesitate to hurt Theresa to strike back at Wulf.

The re-release of Keri Arthur‘s older series continues this week, and this time the restart is for her Damask Circle trilogy. The first book is Circle of Fire.

circle of fireSynopsis…

VISIONS OF TERROR

Sixteen teenagers taken from their homes. Eleven bodies recovered, each completely drained of blood. Some believe vampires are responsible. Jon Barnett knows that what’s happening is far worse. Sent by a group of paranormal investigators known as the Damask Circle, Jon quickly becomes enmeshed in a web of black magic and realizes he needs help. But fate gives him only one choice.

Madeline Smith has retreated to an isolated farmhouse, afraid of the abilities she cannot control—abilities that have killed. But when a “ghost” brings a warning of danger and her nephew goes missing, Maddie not only has to leave her haven, she has to place her trust in a man who is neither ghost nor human. As the noose of sorcery tightens, the search for the teenagers becomes a race against time. But the greatest danger to Maddie and Jon could be the intense feelings they refuse to acknowledge but cannot ignore.

Next up is Cynthia Eden‘s Burn for Me, which is the first book of the Phoenix Fire series.

burn for meSynopsis…

Eve Bradley was undercover looking for a story, not a cause. But something about the man they called Subject Thirteen got her involved. The scientists said he was a devil, and they had a decent case: Terrifying power. A bad attitude. And looks that could lead anyone to sin. . .

Cain O’Connor knows the minute he catches her candy scent that Eve could drive him wild. But she’s a threat–in a way no one has been for him in years. She’s safer away from him, too. But with a powerful conspiracy determined to shut Eve up for good, there’s no time to argue. All they can do is trust their instincts–and their hearts. . .

The under-rated Lynn Viehl‘s serialized steampunk story is now available in print format, and the first volume is called Disenchanted & Co.

disenchanted and coSynopsis…

In the Provincial Union of Victoriana, a steampunk America that lost the Revolutionary War, Charmian “Kit” Kittredge makes her living investigating crimes of magic. While Kit tries to avoid the nobs of high society, she follows mysteries wherever they lead.

Unlike most folks, Kit doesn’t believe in magic, but she can’t refuse to help Lady Diana Walsh, who claims a curse is viciously wounding her while she sleeps. As Kit investigates the Walsh family, she becomes convinced that the attacks are part of a more ominous plot—one that may involve the lady’s obnoxious husband.

Sleuthing in the city of Rumsen is difficult enough, but soon Kit must also skirt the unwanted attentions of a nefarious deathmage and the unwelcome scrutiny of the police chief inspector. Unwilling to surrender to either man’s passion for her, Kit struggles to remain independent as she draws closer to the heart of the mystery. For the truth promises to ruin her life—and turn Rumsen into a supernatural battleground from which no one will escape alive.

Previously released in e-format, this week is the print debut of Rebecca Zanetti‘s Sins Brothers series. Book one is called Forgotten Sins.

Josie and Shane’s marriage only lasted a few months before he disappeared on a mysterious military assignment, leaving her heart in shreds. Josie’s tough, though, and she picked up the pieces, building a new life around her high-powered number-crunching job.

When Shane turns up at the local hospital two years later with a concussion and amnesia, Josie agrees to take him home but only long enough for him to sign divorce papers. But they’re barely in the door when their old passion explodes.

Shane can’t remember why he left the beautiful blue-eyed angel glaring at him, but he knows it was to protect her. Every one of his strangely powerful senses tells him she is in danger. Shane knows he can’t be normal. Hearing the heartbeat of people in the next room isn’t normal. The only question is–is he the good guy or the bad?

The sole young adult entry of the bunch is from Sophie Jordan. Uninvited is the first book of the Uninvited series.

You can’t change your DNA…even when it says you’re a murderer.

When Davy tests positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome, aka “the kill gene,” she loses everything. Once the perfect high school senior, she is uninvited from her prep school and abandoned by her friends and boyfriend. Even her parents are now afraid of her—although she’s never hurt a fly. Davy doesn’t feel any differently, but genes don’t lie. One day she will kill someone.

Without any say in the matter, Davy is thrown into a special class for HTS carriers. She has no doubt the predictions are right about them, especially Sean, who already bears the “H” tattoo as proof of his violence. Yet when the world turns on the carriers, Sean is the only one she can trust. Maybe he’s not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

I am being good and only have the Cynthia Eden title on order, but of course that can change at any time. Are any of these on your must-buy list for the week?
