Updating Part 1 – Cover Blurbs

blurbsI spent last evening updating the new release pages, and in my internet travels I came across both a few more covers and a few new blurbs. So, I thought I would break them up into two posts, starting with blurbs. I so look forward to getting the official book-cover blurb – you find out what is going on, but have less chance of being spoiled for the previous book than if you check around online. Or, in some cases, the unofficial ones are just scary (yes, I am pointing at Lora Leigh’s. I still can’t understand them). So, here goes…

I am not sure how many Eileen Wilks fans there are, since I don’t hear much about the World of the Lupi books (a good one for the next Yes? No? Maybe? post), but her 12th Lupi book will be called Mind Magic, and it will be released on November 30th.

Thanks to the mindspeech lessons she’s receiving from the black dragon, Lily is temporarily benched from Unit Twelve—until her brain acclimates and the risk of total burnout passes. At least she has her new husband, lupi Rule Turner, to keep her occupied.

But when her mentor calls in a favor and sends Lily to a murder scene, she’s suddenly back on active status—despite the hallucinations she can’t keep at bay.  With one touch, Lily knows the man was killed by magic, but her senses don’t warn her how far the conspiracy goes…

A shadowy force within the government wants to take Unit Twelve down, and they don’t mind killing to achieve their goal. With none of her usual resources, Lily is up against impossible odds–because with her mind in disarray, she can’t trust anything she sees.

Also in the works is a new Robin D. Owens Celta’s Heartmates book, Heart Legacy. This one is also due out on November 3rd.

After the death of GrandLord Yew years ago, the Yews withdrew to their self-sustaining estate and disappeared from Celtan society. The current head of the household is believed to be eighteen-year-old Loridana. To find out, Draeg Blackthorn has been sent to the estate to spy, undercover as a stableman for the stridebeasts—beautiful creatures that hold a place in Lori’s heart no member of her family ever could.

Bullied by her family, Lori has decided to abandon her bloodline and live on her own with her true family—her animals. When Draeg discovers she’s rejecting her heritage, he’s appalled. He’s come to love the land as much as the woman, even spinning small fantasies of marrying Lori and becoming Lord and Lady of the manor. Draeg wants her to stay and fight her elders. For Lori, it’s an alternative that could render her absolutely powerless to pursue her own destiny, and drive her further away from her perfect dreams and the man she loves, Draeg.

Oh, and just recently the info has started to come out about the Faith Hunter Jane Yellowrock spin off book, Blood of the Earth. It is due out on October 6th.

Set in the same world as the New York Times bestselling Jane Yellowrock novels, an all-new series starring Nell Ingram, who wields powers as old as the earth.

When Nell Ingram met skinwalker Jane Yellowrock, she was almost alone in the world, exiled by both choice and fear from the cult she was raised in, defending herself with the magic she drew from her deep connection to the forest that surrounds her.

Now, Jane has referred Nell to PsyLED, a Homeland Security agency policing paranormals, and agent Rick LaFleur has shown up at Nell’s doorstep. His appearance forces her out of her isolated life into an investigation that leads to the vampire Blood Master of Nashville.

Nell has a team—and a mission. But to find the Master’s kidnapped vassal, Nell and the PsyLED team will be forced to go deep into the heart of the very cult Nell fears, infiltrating the cult and a humans-only terrorist group before time runs out…

There was a synopsis for Dark Ghost over on Christine Feehan‘s website, but it didn’t do much for me. I like this one better. Dark Ghost is due out on September 8th.

He wasn’t civilized or tame. He had his own code and he lived by it.

Monk. Bounty hunter. Vampire slayer. Andre Boroi has spent centuries battling the undead, holding out against the dark with honor. But now, gravely wounded by master vampire Costin Popescu, Andre will be easy to track—his spilled blood marking the killing trail for Popescu and his hungry band of underlings. Andre’s only chance is to disappear into the gray mist of the Carpathians. To wait. To hope.

She had a healing touch and a scent that was his lifeblood.

In the mountains in search of a precious crystal, geologist Teagan Joanes suddenly finds herself hunted by those she once trusted. Then she comes across the warrior—wounded, wanting and irresistible. Andre has been craving her for an eternity: his lifemate. Her warmth envelops him. Her scent pulsates. And with every beat of her heart, Teagan surrenders to a passion she can’t possibly comprehend.

Now they are bound by destiny, but is it enough to keep them safe from a stalking, relentless darkness that threatens to swallow them alive?

There. I got quite a few more, but then it is just too dark long a post. I have been hunting for some Dark Ghost info for a while, so I was happy with that, and Blood of the Earth is really sounding good, too. With last week’s Archangel’s Enigma reveal, things are shaping up well for 2015.

Cover Lover – Fangirl Edition

Finding a cover from a favorite author or a much anticipated book makes my day…finding a few on the same day is even better. So, to find  covers for Christine Feehan, Patricia Briggs and Lora Leigh on the same day was a total bonus. Sometimes, when it is a much-anticipated book, I don’t even care if I like the cover – I am still excited.

Let’s start with Patricia Briggs‘ next Alpha and Omega book, Dead Heat. I have to say, Charles might frighten me a bit on this one. It is due out on March 3rd.

I next stumbled on the covers for the next two Lora Leigh Breeds books. This first one is called Overcome, and it is a compilation of 3 previously released novellas which is due out on February 3rd.

Cover Lover – 2 New Titles

Just a quick check-in post, since I have been MIA for the last couple of days – there just hasn’t been that much going on to post. Easing back into things, there are two new covers making the rounds. First up is the next Celta’s Heartmates book from Robin D. Owens, Heart Fire. It is due out on November 4th.

TBR Plans and Schemes…

question markOk, I really, really thought I was making headway on getting through Mount TBR. I really did. The last time I had actually sat down and counted, I had around 190 books. I was a bit ashamed, so I put more of a concerted effort into getting things into a reasonable range. Fast forward to today, when I did another count to see how I was doing…and my TBR now totals 270. 270?!? How…when…WHAT?

A book buying ban is the fastest way to turn me into a raging bitch, so that will never happen. Instead, I have decided on a rethink of how I order, what I order, and when I order it. Instead of grabbing everything that catches my eye, I am going to try buying new releases from my existing series (that I have already read from and decided that I like). I will pick up the first book from a new series only when I have completed a series from Mount TBR. For example, I finished the third and final book in the Divergent series, Allegiant, so I decided to try out Robin D. Owens‘ new Ghost Seer book. Also, I will make myself buy only the first book of a series to see if I actually like it before I pick up the whole set – that is, except for the Dark-Hunter stuff, which makes me snicker every time I see the shelves of them that I have never read.

I have also come up with a way to organize the TBR monster. I have six full bookcases of six shelves each, and I rotate between cases. That way, I alternate between paperback, hardcover, young adult and trade paperback. And I have given myself challenges, too…like this go round, I must read one book from each bookcase that either finishes up a series, or gets me caught up to the most current release. The next round might be something like each book from the six must have a blue cover, or something like that. It actually makes me read something that I might otherwise have passed over yet again.

How does your TBR shape up? Do you have a technique for organizing it, or do you just wing it? Have any of you come up with a way to keep the numbers down while still having plenty to chose from, or are you overrun, too? Are you loud and proud, or slightly ashamed of the number of books demanding your attention?

New Series Alerts…

That time again…and it looks like there is a trio of new series starting up this week to look at. This first one is from Virna DePaul. Turned is the title of the first book in the Belladonna Agency series.

turnedSynopsis…

Turning mortals into vampires is forbidden.

But there are creatures who refuse to play by the rules.

Ever since he was turned, FBI special agent Ty Duncan has had one mission: bring rogue vampires to justice. As a recruiter for Belladonna, a shadow agency formed to keep vampires in check, Ty must tap Ana Martin, a troubled ex–gang member and one of the few mortals who can infiltrate places that his kind and the law cannot. From their first encounter, Ty fights a hunger to make Ana his own.

When Ty claims to have information about Ana’s missing sister, Ana has no choice but to trust this captivating stranger who awakens her deepest desires. But as she and Ty climb the heights of pleasure and passion, an enemy is conspiring to destroy them both.

Can Ana help Ty find his humanity in a love that could heal them both, or will their passion lead them into a darkness impossible to escape?

This second one is from Cynthia Garner. Vampire’s Hunger is the first book in her new Awakening series.

vampire's hungerSynopsis…

Kimberly Treat is one of the best necromancers Akron, Ohio has ever seen. Normally her necromancy sessions go off without a hitch. She raises the dead, takes up to half an hour to get questions answered, and then lets the dead go back to their eternal rest. Except…the last dead person she raised refuses to rest and bites the medical examiner. Two days later the ME becomes ill with fever. Soon, there’s a worldwide pandemic and civilization has spiraled out of control.

Everyone blames Kimber. Hell, Kimber blames Kimber. And she’s still trying to figure out what went wrong. The only thing she knows is that the power she normally taps into in order to raise the dead-something called the Unseen-feels dark. And now it reaches for her instead of allowing her to draw its energy as needed.

It doesn’t help that sexy vampire Duncan MacDonnough appoints himself her protector. Not that she doesn’t need one-anyone who hears her name instantly hates her, and there are plenty of folks out there who are more than willing, even eager, to act on that hatred. But she doesn’t need a vampire protecting her, especially since he won’t tell her why he’s protecting her. She has to wonder what his hidden agenda is.

Besides, who’s going to protect her when hunger flares in his eyes?

–Awakening reading list is HERE

And finally, we have Ghost Seer from Robin D. Owens. It is the first book of the Ghost Seer series.

the ghost seerSynopsis…

There’s just something about Clare. Apart from the ghosts…

When her eccentric aunt passes away, no-nonsense accountant Clare Cermac inherits more than just a small fortune. She receives the gift of communicating with ghosts. While Clare may not believe in spirits, it’s hard to overlook the shadowy talking dog appearing on her bed or spectral cowboys tipping their hats to her in the streets of Denver. And when she locks eyes with sexy—and living—Zach Slade, there’s certainly no ignoring him either.

A former deputy sheriff, Zach is leaving a painful past behind in Montana for a new life in Denver as a private investigator, a job that has him crossing paths with beautiful Clare. Not that she minds. After the restless ghost of a Wild West gunman demands her assistance, Clare finds herself needing Zach more and more—and not just for help.

–Ghost Seer reading list is HERE

I think I am going to check out Ghost Seer. I haven’t gotten into the ghost thing much, and it would be a nice change. Also, it would be a good introduction to Robin D. Owens, since I haven’t tried anything else by her as yet. Are any of these on your weekly wish list?

This and That…

Just some random info and new release dates from out and about…

  • Robin D. Owens will release her 13th Celta’s Heartmates book, Heart Fire, on November 4th.
  • It looks like the Queen Betsy series from MaryJanice Davidson just keeps chugging along. Undead & Unwary will be out on October 7th.

  • Alexandra Adornetto starts up her new Ghost House Saga on August 26th with the release of Ghost House.

  • Fans of Kresley Cole‘s Arcana Chronicles series will have a little extra wait for the third book, Dead of Winter. It has been pushed back to January 6th.
  • October 7th is the release date for the next Jane Yellowrock book from Faith Hunter, and it will be called Broken Soul.
  • It is a bit of a wait for Suzanne Johnson‘s next Sentinels of New Orleans book, Pirates Alley. It is due out next April.

  • Jennifer Estep‘s Black Widow will be released November 25th. Hard to believe the Elemental Assassin series is already up to book #12. The blurb is out already…

There’s nothing worse than a cruel, cunning enemy with time to kill—and my murder to plan.

With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit.

The thing is, I’m not the only target. I can see through the tangled threads enough to know that every bit of bad luck my friends have been having lately is no accident—and that each unfortunate “coincidence” is just one more arrow drawing ever closer to hitting the real bulls-eye. Though new to Ashland, this M. M. Monroe is no stranger to irony, trying to get me, an assassin, framed for murder. Yet, as my enemy’s master plan is slowly revealed, I have a sinking feeling that it will take more than my powerful Ice and Stone magic to stop my whole life from going up in flames.

  • Sometimes my best guesses just don’t work out. I had assumed that the hero from the Ilona Andrews‘ upcoming Burn for Me would be the fire Prime, Adam Pierce. The blurb proved me wrong, though…

#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews launches a brand new Hidden Legacy series, in which one woman must place her trust in a seductive, dangerous man who sets off an even more
dangerous desire…

Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.

Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.

Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

So, that is about that for this week. Any gossip or juicy news to share?

Cover Lover – 3 New Titles

I have gotten all of the new release pages updated to include the most recent cover art and blurbs, but of course in the process I noticed that yes – there seems to have been a bunch of release date shifts and push backs. Again. Sooo, looks like it is time to do a double check, and hopefully that will be done in the next couple of days. I mean, really, what is the point of setting a release date and then shifting it around by a week or two? That is just annoying.

Rant over. There are three covers for today’s post, and this first one is from the second book in the new Robin D. Owens series, Ghost Seer. Ghost Layer is due out on the popular September 2nd.

ghost layerThis second one is from Dianne Duvall and her Immortal Guardians series. Night Unbound is due out on…yep, September 2nd.

This and That…

After a great few days for finding new cover art, I thought I would do just a random post about some info I also came across. This is a bit of a mixed bag, but hopefully you will find something interesting…

  • many thanks to Darchelle M., who let me know that Christine Feehan has announced that there is another Ghostwalker book on the horizon. Viper Game, from all indication, will be Wyatt Fontenot’s book (Raoul’s brother and member of the mysterious team four). If the schedule holds, then we could have our hands on this in her usual December/January release spot.
  • I am not sure how many of you followed the recently wrapped up e-serial Bane Chronicles from Cassandra Clare, but the pre-order links are now up for the hardcover release as well. It will be out on November 11th.
  • I had seen a couple of references around to Gena Showalter‘s next Lords of the Underworld book (The Darkest Touch, due out November 25th), and someone called “the Red Queen”. I had no clue what that was about until I found the cover blurb earlier today…

From New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter comes the long-awaited story of Torin, the most dangerous Lord of the Underworld yet….

Fierce immortal warrior. Host to the demon of Disease. Torin’s every touch causes sickness and death—and a worldwide plague. Carnal pleasure is utterly forbidden, and though he has always overcome temptation with an iron will, his control is about to shatter.

She is Keeley Cael. The Red Queen. When the powerful beauty with shocking vulnerabilities escapes from a centuries-long imprisonment, the desire that simmers between her and Torin is scorching. His touch could mean the end for her, but resisting her is the hardest battle he’s ever fought—and the only battle he fears he can’t win.

  • also from blurb-landia comes the one for Night’s Honor, which is the next Elder Races book from Thea Harrison that is due out on September 2nd…

In USA Today bestselling author Thea Harrison’s latest Novel of the Elder Races, a woman finds herself in need of protection—and seduced by honor…

On the run from her former employer, Tess knows that she’s vulnerable on her own amongst the Elder Races. That’s why she decides to audition to become the human attendant of a powerful Vampyre of the Nightkind demesne. But while her position affords her the safety she seeks, her protector turns out to be more than she bargained for.

The right-hand man of the Nightkind King, Xavier del Torro is both terrifying and alluring. While his true nature frightens Tess, she can’t ignore the appeal of his innate sense of integrity and self-restraint. Thrown into Xavier’s world, Tess must quickly learn to navigate the dangers—both to her life and to her heart. But the biggest threat comes from her own past…

  • fans of Robin D. Owens will be glad to know that the second book of her new Ghost Seer series, Ghost Layer, will be out on September 2nd. But, really? Ghost Layer?

That is about it. What about you, have you heard or seen anything interesting about upcoming releases?

Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

Man, today seemed like a long, long day. I was feeling too lazy to do much, but a quick browse of Goodreads and Amazon dug up 5 new covers, so…

This first one is the much anticipated next book in Kim Harrison‘s Rachel Morgan series, The Undead Pool. It is due out on February 25th.

the undead poolThe next one is from Ashlyn Chase. Kissing With Fangs is the third book of her Flirting with Fangs trilogy, and it is due out on March 4th.
