Cover Lover – 5 New Titles

Well, I guess technically the last three of these would be considered “new version” titles, but I still thought they were interesting. Night’s End is from author Yasmine Galenorn, and it is the final book in her Indigo Court series. Look for it on July 1st

night's endCover number two is from the second book from Susan Krinard‘s Midgard series, Black Ice. It will be released on August 12th.

black iceThese next three are the “new version” ones I was talking about before. The first three titles in Maggie Stiefvater‘s Shiver series are being re-released in paperback format on August 29th (I guess to get everyone ready for Sinner on July 1st). First up is Shiver.

shiverBook two is Linger.

lingerAnd finally, there is book three, Forever.

foreverI really like that the new Shiver series covers manage to have the same feel as the originals, but with a twist. I just wish they came in hardcover to go with Sinner, but you can’t have everything, I guess.

New Release Dates…

I have been pretty steadily adding titles to the New Release pages lately, rather than making one monster update every month or so, but this week there were quite a few notable pre-order links that whoed up on Amazon.

  • Sparrow Hill Road, which is the first book of Seanan McGuire‘s upcoming Ghost Stories series, will be released on May 6th.
  • Charlaine Harris will start a new series next year that is a little less supernatural in flavor than Sookie Stackhouse, but still veers towards the paranormal. The new series will be called Midnight, Texas, and the first book will be called Midnight Crossroad. Look for it on May 6th.
  • The 4th book of M.J. Scott‘s Half Light City series, Fire Kin, will be released on May 6th.
  • The next rumored Meredith Gentry book from Laurell K. Hamilton, A Shiver of Light, now has a release date. It is due out on June 3rd.
  • It looks like Jess Haines will be releasing another H&W Investigations book. Enslaved by the Others is due out on July 1st.
  • Ilona Andrews revealed that the cover for Magic Breaks will be made public on October 31st, and now Amazon has the preorder up with the date listed as July 29th.
  • Kat Richardson‘s next Greywalker book, Revenant, will be released on August 5th.
  • Black Ice is the title of the second Mist book from Susan Krinard. It is due out on August 12th.
  • Shield of Winter from Nalini Singh, which will feature Vasic, will be released on June 3rd.
  • August 5th is the release date for Chloe Neill‘s next Chicagoland Vampires book, Blood Games.
  • Fans of Victoria Scott‘s Dante Walker series will be glad to know that book three is in the works. The Warrior is due out on May 6th.
  • The fifth and final book from Jennifer L. Armentrout‘s Lux series, Opposition, will be out on August 5th.
  • The Immortal Crown is the title of Richelle Mead‘s second Age of X book, and it will be released on May 29th.

Which of these are you most excited by? Shield of Winter is at the top of my list, along with Blood Games and Opposition (even though I hate to see the Lux series end). Magic Breaks in hardcover is a huge one for me, and I might even try out Charlaine Harris’ new one, too.

New Series Alerts…

Well, I did play around a bit with the design again today, even though I had thought I was done. I really like the text-based design, but the lack of some sort of image at the top made things look unfinished. A simple Google search turned up a couple of images that I whipped into a header. Hope you like. I also played around a bit with the drop down menu, trying to make things stand out more. The tinkering never ends, I guess.

Now, on to the new series coming our way this week. There are two to look forward to, one adult and one young adult. The adult release is called Mist, and it is the first book in the Mist series by Susan Krinard. For some reason, I thought this one was being released in hardcover, but it is actually paperback. Not sure where I got that idea from.

Centuries ago, all was lost in the Last Battle when the Norse gods and goddesses went to war. The elves, the giants, and the gods and goddesses themselves were all destroyed, leaving the Valkyrie Mist one of the only survivors.

Or so she thought.

When a snowy winter descends upon modern-day San Francisco in June, Mist’s quiet existence starts to feel all too familiar. In quick succession, Mist is attacked by a frost giant in a public park and runs into an elf disguised as a homeless person on the streets…and then the man Mist believed was her mortal boyfriend reveals himself to be the trickster god, Loki, alive and well after all these years.

Loki has big plans for the modern world, and he’s been hanging around Mist for access to a staff that once belonged to the great god Odin. Mist is certain of one thing: Loki must be stopped if there is to be any hope for Earth. But the fight is even bigger than she knows….

Because Loki wasn’t the only god to survive.

And the new young adult series is from the very popular Jenna Black. Replica is the first book of the series of the same name.

Sixteen-year-old Nadia Lake comes from a high-class Executive family in the Corporate States. Her marriage has been arranged with the most powerful family in her state, which means she lives a life of privilege but also of public scrutiny, followed everywhere by photographers, every detail of her private life tabloid fodder. But her future is assured, as long as she can maintain her flawless public image — no easy feat when your betrothed is a notorious playboy.

Nathan Hayes is the heir of Paxco — controller of the former state of New York, and creator of human replication technology, science that every state and every country in the world would kill to have. Though Nadia and Nate aren’t in love, they’ve grown up close, and they (and the world) are happy enough with their match.

Until Nate turns up dead, and as far as everyone knows, Nadia was the last person to see him alive.

When the new Nate wakes up in the replication tanks, he knows he must have died, but with a memory that only reaches to his last memory backup, he doesn’t know what killed him. Together, Nadia and Nate must discover what really happened without revealing the secrets that those who run their world would kill to protect.

I am eyeing Mist, but trying to control myself. I am going to be a good girl and check the reviews for this one, but it does sound very interesting. Do either of these sound like something you would be interested in this week.

Cover Lover – 12 New Titles

Many thanks to All Things Urban Fantasy, from where I nabbed many of these covers.

Well, the first one is from Rachel Vincent, called Blood Bound.  It is the first book in her new Unbound series, due out on August 23rd.

The second one is called Code of the Wolf, from author Susan Krinard.  It is from her 18th Century Werewolf series, and should be available on July 19th.

Hm, well.  The only author I follow in this anthology is Alexandra Ivy, and since her entry is a Guardians of Eternity short, I will be grabbing it for sure.  The Real Werewives of Vampire County also features Angie Fox, Jess Haines and Tami Dane, and should be out on October 25th.

The Hunter is the first book in Theresa Meyers‘ The Legend Chronicles.  Looks like a Cowboy Steampunk vibe going on.  Look for it on November 1st.

Next up is Devilishly Hot.  It is the new book from Kathy Love, due out on October 25th.  It doesn’t appear to be part of a series, but rather stand alone.

This one stands out with all of the vivid colors.  Siren’s Desire is the third book from the Dark Tides series from Devyn Quinn, and will be released on February 7th, 2012.

The cover for Barb Hendee‘s next one is out.  In Memories We Fear is the release from her Vampire Memories series, and should be available on October 4th.

Now, I know this one is YA, but I find the covers pretty.  The title and cover for the third book in Chloe Neill’s Dark Elite series have been released.  Charmfall is due early next year.

Jessica Sims will have a new series starting on October 25th with the release of Beauty Dates the Beast.  It is book 1 of her Midnight Liasons series.

Seems like there are a ton of new series starting up, and this one is no exception.  From Zoe Archer comes The Hellraisers.  Book one, Devil’s Kiss, is due out on December 6th.

Another new kid on the block is from Amanda Bonilla and her debut book, Shaedes of Gray.  It is part of her upcoming Shaede’s Assassin series, and will be on the shelves on December 6th.

The Bite Before Christmas is a duology featuring Jeaniene Frost and Lynsay Sands (I have my hopes up for a Bones fix), to be released in hardcover on October 25th.
